Metro New Orleans DISers - check in!!! - 03/2009

Hey y'all!

Sorry I haven't checked in- I spent most of yesterday laying around and napping. The emotional strain of this visit really took a toll on my body...I was just sore and so tired I felt like I could have slept a week.

Unfortunately the visit was not one of those Lifetime Movie reunions. There were no blowups, but it was very tense and awkward, as I thought it might be. She (they actually, my stepdad came with her) was three hours late, having been out late at the casino the night before and was hungover, so, uh yeah, some things haven't changed. I was royally ticked at her tardiness because my niece and I were just sitting there waiting as the minutes ticked by getting more and more upset. When she did show up it was clear she was there to see my kids and didn't seem too interested in seeing me or my niece, whom I felt really bad for. Maybe she was just nervous... I don't know. She did bring gifts for my kids and left Christmas money for them. They stayed for about four hours; when she left she said goodbye and that was it. When she said goodbye to Todd she thanked him for taking care of me. She said she was going to come on Sunday to visit some more because the visit was cut short. Sunday came and went- no call, no show. She called late last night and talked to Todd (I was asleep) and said they decided to leave a day early. And so that was it.

I thought about this all day yesterday and thought all of this time that I had moved on without her; I guess she has moved on without me too.

Sorry to be a downer, but it is what it is. I am sad about it, I won't lie...but I have to keep moving on. I really need that Disney trip now!

I'm sorry. Don't you hate feeling like you're a tight rope walker? It's great that you've been able to get past her and even though she opened wounds, remember you have gotten past her. That doesn't mean that it won't still hurt but it probably won't hurt as long or as much. It would give her the power that you've earned for yourself and she doesn't get that- she'll have to go through you and Todd first and us next!:grouphug:

Mary - I can't believe your trip is so close! I hope you have a great time!

Lorie - I'm sorry your weekend was so difficult.

Kathy -

Sheryl - How are you doing with your recovery? And how's Alexis doing?

Kristina - Glad to see you posting again. I hope you get your refi money soon. I myself am waiting to hear about some money that NYC owes me. :headache: I'd REALLY like to be done dealing with them!

Sinderelli - Are you still lurking? Come back! That goes for any other lurkers out there too! :magnify: We are going to have to send out a search party or something!

So this morning...I go out to my car and *surprise* find the windshield all wet like usual. But today, for some reason, instead of thinking "water, wipe off with wipers" I'm thinking "drat, I REALLY need to get an ice scraper. I don't know how I'm going to get this off" :confused3 as I'm turning on the wipers. Then it hits me DUH it's still WARM out and this is NOT ICE!! :lmao: Looking back on the situation, I think what I REALLY needed was some coffee! :rotfl2:

Well Parent Teacher conference was good...I really like Ursuline and Aly is doing excellent. I think she is fitting in nicely. :yay:

So glad that to hear this. :thumbsup2

I feel so blessed to have gone to Disney last week so I am NOT complaining- but boy do we have post Mickey blues!

It's like so much planning goes into it then wham! it's done. Nothing to look forward to but normal life. Which is a GREAT thing in this house-but lately , well blechhhhhhh!

Just spoiled rotten.

I missed this last night.......:rotfl2:

I hate that feeling.

My house smells so good right now, I have bread baking in the oven.:cloud9:
YUM! I'm soooo ready for the temps to cool off so I can start cooking to satisfy my cravings for chili & soup.

I'm sorry the anxiety from the visit exhausted you, and I'm glad you got through it. It's never easy, especially when you're trying to protect those beautiful kids.

:rotfl: Seriously, though, you might want to get some type of scraper for your windshield if your car is parked outside. If the cold fronts ever decide to push through, there will be some mornings where the frost is heavy enough to require scraping. Now I'm not talking plug the engine block in / frozen locks kind of cold, but with all that lovely humidity we have, frost can be a PITA when you're trying to get going in the morning, especially before you've had that cup of coffee!

Flora - Just a little while left! Hope y'all have a great time!

GM Ladies. Man traffic was a nightmare getting from the WB to Ursuline this morning...UGH! :headache:

Lori - I totally feel you on the disney trip planning then the return home let down. :sad1:

Hope everyone enjoys their day.

I hear ya. I'm trying not to do too much planning just yet on our trip next year. I've printed out some menus because we're trying to decide which dining plan we want (I have the regular booked at the moment), and I've printed out a list of the tours that are offered. But that's about it.

Hey Y'all

darn all my multi-quotes aren't showing up! Hope I remember everyone.

Terry, I'm glad Ursuline is working out so well for Aly! :goodvibes but I'm sorry the drive is so hard on Mom!

Mary, Is it only 2 more days?!!!!

Kristina, How are you doing?

You must need coffee! :rotfl2: Girl you crack me up! If you still have your scraper you might need it once a year... maybe.

Alexis is doing great! She is going in for her pre-op appt. this afternoon. She's had a couple of incidents of vomiting since she's been out of the hospital. Chris is going to ask about that today. Otherwise she's back to her normal sweet bubbly self! :cutie:

Me, I feel like I've recovered from the surgery, but I don't have much if any improvement. A little bit less numbness in my arm, hand still hurts but that's improving. I never did set up the therapy he wants me to do on my hand, I guess I need to calll about that. Thanks for asking!

Well yes I guess we are all spoiled rotten! I hate that awful blechdom that comes after Disney. Don't feel bad for being down, we can all sympathize!

YUM! I'm soooo ready for the temps to cool off so I can start cooking to satisfy my cravings for chili & soup.

I've been cooking up a storm this past week or so! :confused3 The heat hasn't stopped me from cooking or EATING! :scared1:

Awww, I'm sorry your girl is sick! I hope it's not something lasting.

It is pouring over here, hope that means cooler weather will follow!

Crap! My long post disappeared again:/

Hope everyone is doing well!!!

Kristina, G's headaches could be allergy related. We have sinuses at the base of our skulls. I hope she feels better soon! It's great that you're feeling better!!

Lori, I identify with the letdown.

Sheryl, sounds like Alexis is almost 100% better! Once you start physical therapy, it should help.

Serena, glad Ursuline is the right school for Aly!

Bethany, the windshield thing cracked me up! Teachers, pllease pay no attention to the preposition at the end of my previous sentence!

Lauri, I love the planning almost as much as the trip!

Thanks Julie, I loved the character fireworks. Made me smile:)

Kristina, I had what G had last week. I hope she feels better soon.

I am trying to make a decision about our trip. There will be a Mickey's Not so Scary Halloween this Friday. Has anyone ever been to this? I am trying to decide whether or not to do this. There will be 4 adults (me, DH, and another couple who are also celebrating their 20th anniversary). It looks like fun, do ya'll have any opinions?

You're welcome!

Heck, you're celebrating your anniversary, I say go for the MNSSHP. We haven't been to that party but we have been to MVMCP and the P&P parties. We enjoyed those.

Sheryl - I hope Alexis’ post-op appt goes well today. I’m really sad to read that you don’t see much improvement from your surgery, that’s a shame.:sad2:

Kristina – Glad to hear you’re doing better but Miss G is now sick, hugs and prayers for you both.

Mary – I wish I could help but we’ve never been to the Halloween or Christmas parties. I’m thinking….why not?????:thumbsup2

Hopefully I didn’t forget anyone, the DIS is so freaking S L O W I hate to stay on it for any length of time!:headache:

Bob and I did the party on our last trip in 2007 and had a good time. I really enjoyed the parade and fireworks, and just looking at all the costumes. Lots of people really dress up for this (we just had halloween t-shirts). It's not too crowded, lines for the rides are short, another plus.

I have heard to get one of the little ones for later. Can you imagine if I went to the store to buy one now? It was 91 degrees a few hours ago! :lmao:

You must need coffee! :rotfl2: Girl you crack me up! If you still have your scraper you might need it once a year... maybe.

No, I don't still have the one I had in Denver. It was about 3 feet long and had a big brush on it. The brush was to move aside all the ice you'd already scraped off, and/or the snow that was on top of the ice. :headache:

People who had cars in NYC that had to park them on the streets (parallel) would often keep a shovel in their trunk in winter. After the plow went by, it'd leave a little pile of snow between the street and the car and they'd have to SHOVEL out, along with scrape all the ice off! Literally people could spend an hour or more digging out in the morning. :scared: NO THANK YOU!

I think I saw a gator in the bayou today on the way home! :yay:

I think I'm going to get the tickets for Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween. It looks like it would be a lot of fun, and ya'll are right--why not???:goodvibes

Bethany, I hope you don't have dreams about the gator tonight:goodvibes

Yay! on the tickets. I didn't comment earlier because I haven't been to it. The only special event I've been to is the Pirate & Princess Party.

I doubt I will. I've been looking in that bayou every day when I drive past because I've been wanting to see one! :lmao:

Can I just say I can't believe the drama coming from some people? Some of this has been going on (not with this group) since last year around the time of Gustav! Unfreakingbelievable. :furious:
