Metro New Orleans DISers - check in!!! - 03/2009

I think I saw a gator in the bayou today on the way home! :yay:

:scared1: Here come the dreams....

I think I'm going to get the tickets for Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween. It looks like it would be a lot of fun, and ya'll are right--why not???:goodvibes

Mary - I apologize if I've already asked this, forgive me I'm old, what dining plans do y'all have? I'm sure it's been discussed but I forgot.:upsidedow I'm so excited for you!!!!!!!:yay:

Mary - we'll be at the party on Tues. We're going to MK Friday morning and hopping over to HS for Fanstismic that night.

We went last year and had lots of fun. The parade and fireworks are a do-not-miss.

Wow, your trip is so close too! I hope you have a great time!

Quick mini-poll to the local area natives:

Are you offended if someone says they live in New Orleans if they really live in say, Gretna or Terrytown or Chalmette or some other close suburb?

Absolutely not, especially if I'm asked when I'm out of state. No one knows the suburban areas, I always say NOLA!:thumbsup2

Yay! on the tickets. I didn't comment earlier because I haven't been to it. The only special event I've been to is the Pirate & Princess Party.

I doubt I will. I've been looking in that bayou every day when I drive past because I've been wanting to see one! :lmao:

Can I just say I can't believe the drama coming from some people? Some of this has been going on (not with this group) since last year around the time of Gustav! Unfreakingbelievable. :furious:

If it keeps raining like this, you won'r have a hard time seeing a gator. Several years ago it rained a lot. Right before we veered left from Hwy 90 to take the Huey Long Bridge, we saw a group of gators in the road!

Not at all; like Kathy said, most people outside of the state wouldn't know what you were talking about. I still say I'm from N.O. and I moved away 4 years ago. And I live all the way across the lake ;)

No. When people ask we we live, I always say, " 60 miles southwest of New Orleans." Lots of times people then ask if we live on a boat!:rotfl:

On our first trip to WDW in 1985, I was wearing a shirt that asked "Where in the heck is Metairie?" I was standing in line for a ride and actually met someone who KNEW where Metarie was. :goodvibes

Hey y'all!

Thanks for the kind words regarding the mom visit. I'm feeling better today!

We went to the mall to buy some fall clothes for Erik- that was fun! We also stopped at the Disney Store and bought Winnie the Pooh jammies for DD, which she LOVED! I love going to the Disney Store! :goodvibes

Kristina- I hope Miss G feels better soon!

Mary- Only two days left! I'm so excited for you! :cool1:

Sheryl- I'm also sorry to hear that there isn't much improvement post-surgery. Hopefully the physical therapy will help things...

Lori- I tuned into your trip report and I'm loving it! Can't wait to read more! popcorn::

No, as long as said person doesn't routinely put down people who DO live in New Orleans, such as "Eww, I would never subject myself or my children to living in that filthy slum called New Orleans" and then turn around and say they live in New Orleans to someone not from the area, as if it were cool or something. THAT bugs me.

Hi ladies...just stopping to do a quick check in before bed.

Alexis is doing great! She is going in for her pre-op appt. this afternoon. She's had a couple of incidents of vomiting since she's been out of the hospital. Chris is going to ask about that today. Otherwise she's back to her normal sweet bubbly self! :cutie:

Me, I feel like I've recovered from the surgery, but I don't have much if any improvement. A little bit less numbness in my arm, hand still hurts but that's improving. I never did set up the therapy he wants me to do on my hand, I guess I need to calll about that. Thanks for asking!

How'd A's dr. visit turn out? Yes mam you should call the physical therapist asap tomorrow. :goodvibes

Aly and I have done all three parties, Halloween Christmas and Princess and Pirate party. We had a blast at the 1st two. :thumbsup2

Ugh no....:sad2: wth is going on.

Glad you are feeling yourself again...shopping for Erik was fun I'm sure. He is so cute and growing so fast. :)

Quick late checkin for me. DH bought me a new tiny little PINK notebook computer. I'm laying in bed with it, only problem I realized I'm staying awake way later than usual.

Lorie, I'm glad you were able to do a little shopping!

Ms Terry, I'll make that call tomorrow!

Jamie, You're going so soon too!:cool1:

Bethany, No I do think that most of us in the suburbs would say we're from Nola. For me, I think it's because it's really who we are. NOLA isn't just a place, it's the way we think, eat, live! It's in our soul!:goodvibes

What I don't like is people who think where they live in the metro area is better than somewhere else lives. Like Lorie said, I don't want to here someone say with a snooty attitude "Ooohh you live on the Westbank."

A's visit was good! The dr said that it's normal for her to have tummy issues. That it takes a while for everything to start functioning again. He was very pleased with her recovery!

Night y'all!

Where the heck have you been?????? Missed you, stick around!!!!!

Sheryl - Glad to hear Alexis is recovering on schedule.

Mornin'!

Sheryl, it's great that Alexis is healing on schedule!

Kat, I finished your planner!

Good morning. I am getting last minute stuff done today. There's so much planning with a trip, I get stressed out--but it will be worth it tomorrow;)

I do say I'm from New Orleans, although I actually live in Kenner. Its just easier that way, because people will wonder where in the world Kenner is. I've lived in Kenner since I was 10 years old, and when we got married we bought a house in Kenner and just stayed here. I do consider myself a New Orleanian though. I don't know why that would offend people:confused3

It always happens no one seems to know...If I say Metairie, they look at me funny, then I say NOLA and they are like "oh". If I say NOLA, then say Metairie, they will know where it is from.....

if they start dogging NOLA proper, I say "hey, I am from Jefferson Parish/Metairie, right next door!"

great to see you! missed you! I need that shirt :lmao:
:yay: Now if we can get some peeps together for lunch one day before I go, we'll be all set! What is your availability? I'm available on Fridays for sure. Anyone else?????????

Grayce is off on 10/16 - what day do you leave? OOOH I will be on the WB on 10/3 for a class in Marrero...right by barataria and that road that goes to Lafitte....maybe someone can meet me over there - I usually go to that Ryan;s for lunch...

Kristina - I leave on 10/17 but I want my planner before that. Unfortunately Kyle is scheduled to come in on 10/3, but that may change.:rolleyes1
