Metro New Orleans DISers - check in!!! - 03/2009

Iron supplements are boring ;)....I figured there has to be a more exciting way to get you feeling better!

:yay::cheer2: Keep up the good work!

:scared: Those summer deluges are never fun. It's the other idiots who forget how to drive in the rain that scare me. Hope she made it home safely.

Just a thought - those of you who are familiar with her neighborhood & general driving territory might want to give her a head's up on the intersections & underpasses that flood when a bird passes over, so she's not tempted to brave them in her new car! Lessons on parking on the neutral ground might come in handy as well!

Iron supplements ARE boring.. but I take them too cause I don't really care much for meat either. When I was pregnant with my youngest I would not touch it for a full three months...

Good Idea on giving our newcomer tips of where not to go in a new car while in the mist of a deluge...

Bethany... I will come up with a list for you... I am not gonna put it on the Dis cause I don't want to give up your location.... evidently there are some kidnappers on the Dis, who knew? :rolleyes1

Doing a drive by.. checking on Shovan. See she was feeling funky , but glad to know she is being taken care of .

Love you girl!!!

Just caught a bit of the iron supplement talk.. YUK.. no fun!
But I dont love steak, so it is the way to go sometimes!

Hey y'all!

Also just a drive by! I think Erik has colic and has been screaming for the last hour. Todd took him for a drive in the car to hopefully quiet him down. :headache:

I don't think I can make the pottery class but I'm thinking I can do the painting one! It is a Friday night, right?

Sheryl- I'm so impressed that you're posting already! Hopefully you'll be feeling better each day.

Hey y'all,

I'm here just not feeling as good. Throat hurts more, neck is stiffer. But Im being well taken care of, so don't y'all worry.

I worry anyways. I'm sorry you are not feeling well, but I'm glad you are getting taken care of. Real mashed potatoes....:goodvibes

Ladies guess what, I have lost 5 lbs. I am finally feeling that my change in eating habits and excercising are paying off. :yay:

That is great! Congratulations!

It is so much easier to put on 5 pounds than lose them. I should know. ;)

Poor Bethany is stuck in NO East in a bad storm, she had to pull off the road along with others because it was so bad. I told her to wait it out until it slacked off enough for her to get back on the interstate. She's going to call me and let me know she got home OK.

That was just....:scared1: Good thing that happened NOW, AFTER I'm stuck here for at least year or I'd still be up in NYC. :rotfl: When I drive I kinda watch the other drivers like you watch the flight attendants on a plane. When the flight attendants sit down and buckle up mid-flight....:scared: So when EVERYBODY came to a DEAD STOP in the MIDDLE of I-10 I was like OMG is this NORMAL?!? :scared: You couldn't see ANYTHING, even with the wipers on full blast and stuff was flying around and the car was shaking from the thunder and wind.

Great idea! I'm going grocery shopping with her (should be a trip:laughing:) in the morning, I'll be sure & talk to her about that.

I need to make a list. Don't laugh. :rotfl2:

Bethany made it home fine.:goodvibes

:goodvibes Thanks for looking out for me.

And yes, I need THE LIST. Can I assume under those train tracks out by Metairie on I-10 is a low spot since they have a RULER on the WALL? :confused3

So today I got up at 5:30, took care of the dog, finished organizing stuff that really belongs at work in a closet (all that's left now is the clothes....still have out cold weather stuff and the summer stuff is largely MIA :confused3), swept the whole house, washed the dishes, did a load of laundry, wiped down all the counters, took the dog on a walk, then went on errands. I got my brake tag, lunch at Burger King :upsidedow, my driver's license (right when I got my turn, the power surged and all the computers went down and we had to sit and wait like 10 minutes for them to work right again...:headache:), got a box that had come at the post office (which, incidentally, is NOT the nearest PO to me :confused3), and went to get the license plate....then sat on the side of I-10 for a bit on the way home with some other people. :scared: I'm ready for a NAP!

Bethany -I never go to the grocery store without a list, keeps me from over spending.;)

We hadn't heard anymore from the guy that wanted to buy M&D's house so Johnny gave him a call and the reason why he hadn't done anything is that his sister was killed in an auto accident yesterday. We feel so badly for him. He did ask us to give him until Monday to get it done and of course we were fine with that. Just a few minutes ago our realtor called and said an elderly couple had put in an offer for a little less than what Ronnie has offered. Can you believe two now?????

Thanks Bethany. Whew you were a busy little bee today. :thumbsup2

Yes indeed....I have my fingers crossed for you that one of these will turn into a sale for you. :)

I meant don't laugh at what's ON the list. :rotfl2: box box box box ...just add water...box box..

TWO offers?!? That is GREAT! :goodvibes Do you know what you're going to do?

I promise not to laugh.....:rotfl:

The difference in the two offers is minimal but at this stage we have to go with our friend who was the higher offer and like I said before, this guy will make the house come alive again that means so much to me.

I am so glad to hear from you so soon and twice! I hope that when you are completely recovered that it will be worth every bit of the soreness...

Kat: Congratulations to Kyle and Mariah! You must be so proud:cloud9:
That rain was something else!

Lori: Keep having fun with keeping your surprise, it will be the only time you can do it just right.

My uncle surprised my cousin once when he was going on a business trip to New York City, he told her she looked so sad and he was sorry she didn't want to go with him... of course she said "but I do want to go with you, I told you that" and he said "I was just making sure, cause here is your ticket" that was followed by the joy and screams that you would be expecting

Mary: Glad that you are getting back to normal and all is healing fine

Bethany: You are too much, they are not going to land on your roof... it jsut sounds that way

Sorry to anyone I missed

Yesterday I called my husband because I got lost on the way to the UNO Lakefront Arena. We were going to see Thomas Live. Well.. I forgot to get the address for my GPS and thought I knew the way.
The phone call went like this

DH "hello"
ME "hi, how do you get to the Lakefront Arena from here? (where we are) I left in such a hurry I forgot to get the address for the GPS and I am lost!"
DH "well, you turn here, go there, and you should see it"
ME "OMG, I am such a dummy... thank you so much... thank goodness you answered you dang phone" He hadn't been, it was my 5th attempt
DH "did you find it?"
ME "Oh yes, well have a safe trip today and I love you" (he was going out of town for the rest of the week)
DH "Who IS this?"

ummmmmm, only your wife, whose voice you should know by now..lol
Poor thing couldn't figure out who was bothering him with needing directions... at least he was polite enough to give them to me without telling me off that it isn't in his job discription! Husbands!

OMG-you got a cell phone???(LOL)

That is too funny about your hubby!

Kathy- a promise ring- too cute. I know parents worry over that stuff. I know I will cringe if my kids meet someone like that at a young age. I guess i have been really lucky with my own relationship with Paul, but we have been surrounded by friends and sibs who started dating at something obnoxious like 15, and still are going strong 20 years later. My DB and SIL have been together since they were 15 or 16, like us. The ones who live in Ascension. My 2 closest friends have been married to thier hubbies since they were 18-now they are 38 and 39. They probably met at 15 or 16. I am truly surrounded by it and I just feel that if is IT it is IT. I am happy for him. I hope and pray it works out for them-forever.

We ate at Houston's last night:lovestruc. I LOVE that place although it has gotten pretty pricey. I had a BAD day yesterday and needed a drink. I didn't want wine or beer, so I got vodka with cranberry and OJ-VERY happy by end of meal. We brought the kids to MIL's for me to work today-God bless her! My BIL brought them to a movie and dinner-he spoils them rotten.

Got a call from a person interested in my home for investment purposes-whatever:headache:. I am sure I will get an offer for $50,000 less that we are asking. I am thinking the next phone call we get about it I will have a "line" for them requiring fair offers. They called at 6:30 am! NOT happy:mad:. I had 30 more minutes on the alarm.

I changed some ressies and need advice.

Instead of adding another park day, and to take advantage of the "more" part of "Water Parks and more"- we are going to go to Disney Quest the day we get there and eat at Capn Jacks. Now I have eaten there, but forever ago-any bad reviews?? The menu is right up our alley.
I cancelled Tutto Italia as we are going to Tony's the next day and replaced it with Teppan Edo-b/c I think we will love it. Also, at OHana-breakfast or dinner??? The girl I work with that used to be a CM (college program) said dinner was better-but she is not all that much a Disney person- worked there but doesn't know the movies, characters, music, etc. She worked at the hat place and the barber shop on Main St.

So , not to make this MUCH longer, here is MY WDW plans, since NO ONE else has any say, or doesn't care where we go, as long as we are there:

Saturday:fly in, check in, lunch,DD, Disney Quest, Capn Jacks
Sunday: b/fast????,Blizzard Beach, 1900 Park Faire for dinner(lunch will be light)
Monday-EPCOT, Boulangerie Patisserie for kids(ham and cheese croissants), Fish n Chips(DH's ONLY request besides RRC a few times)for us, Tppan Edo for dinner
Tuesday- MK, Columbia Harbor House for lunch, Tony's for dinner
Wednesday-Ohana for breakfast, Typhoon Lagoon, ???dinner
Thursday-DHS, Backlot Express or Pizza planet(for kids, who really want to go there)
Friday-AK, Tusker House for breakfast, Flame Tree or something else(picnic in the park??) for a LATE lunch
Saturday- sleep in, swim???, Magical Express to airport.

OH, another question if you fly, how early do you have to use ME to get to airport??-our flight is at 4:30 or something like that. It said NOON on my Disney reservation-that seems early! I guess we need to get there for at least 3pm.

Lori

Lori - Didn't have time to read your entire dining plan but to answer your ME question, yes ME requires you get to MCO an absurd 3 hours before your flight, which is one of many reasons we aren't using ME again.

Kathy is correct abt ME...we always have to leave 3 hours before flight. This is why we leave as late as we can in the day so we can enjoy a full day or at least till 2 or 3 then head home.

I can't give you advice on any of that...haven't eaten at ANY of those except that French bakery! :confused3

DME is usually 3 hours before your flight time. That's because they pick up something like 3 or 4 resorts, then go the long drive to the airport, then drop off at every airline, MCO security is a beast, ... :headache: I don't know why yours would be 4.5 hours early. New Orleans is NOT international from Orlando...although some days to me it feels a bit foreign. :confused3

Yes, I did break down and get a cell phone... it is a pay as you go phone, and is rarely on, but I figured it would be handy at WDW and in case of emergencies.

I picked Ohana for dinner. My aunt really likes the food there and to be honest, I don't like to get up that early I prefer to eat in the room.

They look good though...

Ii am so sorry I missed all the posts about bethanys day and kathys awesome second offer!!
Bethany-so sorry you were stuck in all that rain! The DMV is always fun too. Glad you are official now!

Kathy- that is horrible about your friend. I am so sorry.it's cool he will spruce it up and you are happy about it. Does he want a northshore home?LOL. Joking.

Thanks for the advice. Sorry my post was a short novel.

Kara-kidding you about the cell. I admmire anyone who can get along without one as long as you have.

Lori

ugh, another post. I am starting to feel some anxiety moments. I haven't had them in years. I am wondering if Lexapro is in order again. Seriously thinking about it.
Just everything-the move, KEEPING the house clean, continuing to weed it out, garage sale, getting the garage "pretty". We have so much work to do. I feel as if I never kept it up like I should have. Paul and I are pretty laid back- we like a clean/neat house, we are packrats no more(although i am questioning that)- but freaking gold doorknobs not matching the stainless faucets never crossed our minds. Don't really care what color the doorknob is-as long as there is one. Course, we never chose that, but it is pointed out to me now that this is not normal. I am sorry, but I think I refuse to change every doorknob in the house. Or the blinds. They are pretty, clean, and they are functional-but not all are working correctly(we use our hands on a couple)-do I replace the blinds now too? By the time we are done pretty-ing it up, we won't wanna leave. I guess I'd rather spend the money on window treatments on the future home. My toilets have permanent hard water rings(we have well water)- do i get new toilets? I mean this is all ridiculous. I have spent hours of my life trying to scrub out the ring in the past-we bleach them every week(which is bad for the treatment system)- they are just there. And every person/site tells you it's those little things that sell a home. My home is clean(90% of the time) and neat(75% of the time).

Grrrrrrr..............:headache:

School, work and the laptop are my escape-I think I'll park it here a while!

L

Lori - I think you're obsessing way too much over the little things. I don't think anyone will decide your house is not for them if the door knobs don't match the faucets and because there are hard water rings in the toilets. Those sites/people have nothing better to do than put together idiotic lists like those. The house will sell itself to the right people.

Lori - it amazing all the little details that jump out when selling or buying a house. Honestly when we were looking, I didn't notice half of that stuff. But our realtor picked up on every tiny thing. I was more concerned in the overall condition of the house, not the color of the walls or door knobs. Personally I'd rather let the new buyer replace that because they can pick whatever they wanted.

And yes, I need THE LIST. Can I assume under those train tracks out by Metairie on I-10 is a low spot since they have a RULER on the WALL? :confused3

:lmao::rotfl2:
Uh, yeah, that's why there's a ruler on the wall. Actually, there's now a pumping station right there that's supposed to "handle" the water at that one location. So hopefully, it will flood no longer. I think it works for the most part.

That's terrible, so tragic. I figured there might be a reason you hadn't heard forom him but not anything like that. As for the second offer, thats great. Hopefully one of them will work out for you.

Hey y'all,

Feeling a little bit better today. The aide situation seems to be working out too. Bob will have to go in a little later to work, but at least we will have someone coming out.

Kat, I'm sorry about the "buyer" loss!

Lori, Try not to stress to much.

My hand is hurting, so I'll be lurking more than typing. But I'm around, so don't talk bad about me! ;)

Sheryl- you are doing great, it seems -so thankful for that!

I agree, those lists are crazy. I LOVE my "cozy' home, it will be perfect for someone, hopefully pretty soon.

I was having an anxiety attack last night, I believe.

Happy saturday!

Hope Mary is feeling better and anyone else I didn't include-I send out well wishes to all of you needing some.

L
