Metro New Orleans DISers - check in!!! - 03/2009

Thanks Lori! I hope you are feeling less anxious today.

I'm doing pretty well. Made it through today with just tylenol & muscle relaxers, no pain pills. I will take one to go to sleep in a little bit. The aide is getting Bob in bed now.

It sure was quiet here today! I hope everyone is well!

Good Night!

ugh, another post. I am starting to feel some anxiety moments. I haven't had them in years.

By the time we are done pretty-ing it up, we won't wanna leave.

School, work and the laptop are my escape-I think I'll park it here a while!

Okay....deep breaths! You have 5 months to sell your house, and from the photos, it's cute! And as far as I know, it's in a nice area, so it has a lot going for it. :thumbsup2 There's so much to do with a move...

And what do you mean "won't wanna leave"....you already don't wanna leave!

Park it here...

Good Night!

I'm glad to hear things are working out and that you sound like you're feeling better. :goodvibes

Serena, Kathy, and I went to Starbucks and Rouses today. :thumbsup2

Well, Bethany, like you, I had to get my butt in gear and face the move-it won't be so bad. My friends and family and I ahve mead e adeal- we were upset when we 1st heard the news, we let a couple weeks of boohooing happen, but now we have to move on. We just do. For sanity. B/c it is gonna happen anyway. We will allow ourselves more boohoo time JUST before we leave. I cannot believe you have been here 19 days!

There are TEN homes for sale on my street-WTH!!! Most within the past week or 2-wierd. My street is about 4.5 blocks long.

Hey I was just going through Ashton's MAW stuff- I am trying to catalog it on my digital since it was all film back then. It is poor quality, but paying for scanning is pretty out of the question as it is a TON of pics, plus I also wanted to get some of the parafanalia in pictures too. I came across a bright colored note by Disney saying they had a new thing going on-they stopped EMH and added characters to the hotels. This was in March of 2002. They said their surverys showed that people wanted characters, and not so much extra time in the parks. :) Kinda interesting.

I also came across the Universal tickets we never used and tried to give back. GKTW told us they were good for 30 years and to hang on to them. I will hold on to them till HPland opens there. We'll see! But I can bet this is our last BIG vacation for a WHILE. I am sure we will be spending our vacation money on trips home and weekends to a few places I have read about in the San Antonio/Austin areas. I am also sure the 1st year will be spent getting the house into a home.

Going to sleep-see ya tomorrow

Good morning ladies.

Lori - I feel you on this....that's how I am still feeling...with the continued delay of the move my nerves are past fried.

Hey y'all,

Feeling a little bit better today. The aide situation seems to be working out too. Bob will have to go in a little later to work, but at least we will have someone coming out.

Kat, I'm sorry about the "buyer" loss!

Lori, Try not to stress to much.

My hand is hurting, so I'll be lurking more than typing. But I'm around, so don't talk bad about me! ;)

Lori & Serena......:hug::hug:

Hope everyone is enjoying this lazy Sunday! I made all my ADRs online this morning and subbed Brown Derby for Mama Melrose. I LOVE the online ressies, I've been playing with them all day...:goodvibes

Lori: Don't worry yourself too much... you house will be fine. I know that you want to get this over with, it will happen in due time. When looking at a home, I don't care that much about the doorknobs either, as long as one exsists.

Kat: Tell me more about this online ressie system... what time did you wake up to start playing with it?

Okay.. so I TRIED to call Bethany... but dialed the wrong number:headache: All those stories Bethany has been entertaining us with are true. :scared: So I dial the phone and a girl answers that truthfully sounds a bit like Bethany, only a sad Bethany. Now I was calling cause of the weather she was driving in... so I asked the girl if Bethany was there... she said no so I told her I must have dialed the wrong number and I was sorry for bothering her... that is what you are supposed to do, right:confused3 The girl asked me why am I sorry for bothering her! :upsidedow So I replied that I didn't mean to take up her time... And she asked AGAIN... why are you sorry for bother me... OH NO.. I got hold of a crazy person!:guilty: I couldn't think of anything witty to say on the spot... so I just said "I am from the South, that is what you are supposed to do".. Finally... that got somewhere... she said okay, well Bye I guess. Maybe she was lonely... maybe she was bored, maybe she was crazy... but Bethany, you can call me from now on.. can we change that to a local number yet PLLLLEEEAASSSEEE!!!!:flower3:

ugh, another post. I am starting to feel some anxiety moments.
We have so much work to do. but freaking gold doorknobs not matching the stainless faucets never crossed our minds.
My toilets have permanent hard water rings(we have well water)-
OK - BIG deep breath & STOP! Here are a couple of suggestions.....

Regarding the matching hardware - if you need some backup on that NOT being necessary, go to Gardenweb's That Home Site forums. There's a section on remodeling & one on kitchens. Warning, this may inspire serious kitchen envy, but DON'T go there! ;) Instead, do a little searching around for the posters who've inquired about multiple hardware finishes. Believe me, matchy-matchy is a personal preference. You might also get some good tips on updating without spending $$$$.

On the toilets, have you tried a pumice stone? We have similar trouble here, and bleach won't touch the deposits. Bleach only sanitizes, it doesn't address the mineral deposits. I use a wet Pumie Scouring Stick (red/white/blue box) & the deposits scrub right off. IIRC I found it either @ WM or Lowe's. Check you local hardware stores in the plumbing department also.

THANK YOU!!!!!! I was at Lowes, looking for something industrial and good for that. I ran into a boss of mine from 1990(Magnolia Plantation). She just moved here and had the same problem and told me to look for 'The Works' for hard water stains. Couldn't find it. Pumice on a stick sounds better as it doesn't entail me sticking my hand in there-with or without a glove!

Like I said, I am having moments of anxiety, I am not like this 24/7.

I had a headache yesterday, took an aleve, but was waiting for the migraine to hit, felle asleep at about 7:30, DH let me sleep and I got up at 7am-so I am WELL rested today. I woke up a a bit , like12-2 and was restless, but fell back.

This is a cleaning day-what day isn't lately-and a getting back in the attic day. I have about 25% weeded through. It was mostly baby stuff- and the 4 boxes of crafts/gifts/stuff the 2.5 years Ash was at Childrens-I cannot part with it-just can't. She'll take it with her one day.

Have a wonderful day- I am hoping to get me and the kids to the pool today!

Lucky for me, we have large groups meeting for our dinners so I didn't have to get any of those, which are harder to get. If I had I would have gotten online at 6AM. Here's a link you can get familiar with it before you actually make the ressies:

Bethany had us cracking up in Starbucks Saturday telling us that phone call story.:rotfl2:

Happy Monday Ladies. Have a good week.

Same to you!

Have a wonderful day- I am hoping to get me and the kids to the pool today!

I hope you get to relax and hang out by the pool!

Have any of you eaten at Landry's Seafood out by the lake?

I've heard good things about The Works too, but have never tried it. The Pumie is just pumice shaped into a rectangular block (about 1.5" x 1.5" x 6"). Think of it like a giant grey eraser! Oh, sorry, but it does require you to make some contact with the bowl. What I normally do is go through my usual cleaning routine, flush to get rid of the chemicals, and then use the Pumie on the inside of the bowl along the water line. It needs some water to work. I only have to use it about once every 3mos or so to keep the deposit buildup away.

Happy Monday everyone! Lovin' the lower humidity this morning!

In my efforts to make my house prettier-I am having a time of it with hard water stains-toilet, master shower. Ok, so got the toilet thing taken care of, but when looking for shower stuff I came a cross this and the Fume free oven cleaner is on the shower right now. Then I will wax it. If this works, where ever we move, this is the FIRST thing I am doing! Wanted to share for those of you with clear showers!

Lori

Let us know if the FFOven Cleaner works! That would be awesome!

MIL used to wax her shower enclosures as well. Swore it helped (of course, this is a woman who ironed her sheets, and LOVED to clean house). I'm not all that interested, so I've settled for training DH & the kids to use a squeegee on the shower walls.

I need some help deciding which cellular carrier to switch to. We have big issues with T-Mobile in Baton Rouge - 99% of the time Kyle has no signal on campus or at his apartment. We had none as well when we went for orientation so we know it's not the phones. T-Mobile verified that a new tower needs to be built in the BR area and released me from my contract. Any recommendations????

Good morning:goodvibes

Lori, you deserve a break. Enjoy your time at the pool with your girls:thumbsup2

We had a busy weekend here. Saturday, my husband, son and his friend were tidying up the yard getting ready for a surprise party for my son's girlfriend. A bunch of bees came from under one of the tables and stung the three of them plus my little dog, Jackson. Stupid bee stung him right on the nose. My poor baby, he kept batting at his nose with his paw. He was fine though, after I gave him some benadryl.

Yesterday was the surprise party and it went great! It was a sweet sixteen for my son's girlfriend and also for his best friend's girlfriend. The two girls were speechless. I posted some pics on facebook, if ya'll get chance to see them.

Have a good day:)

Hey y'all,

Mary, That's a shame about the bees! I'm glad the party went off well.

Kat, We like our AT&T service. I think service inside also depends on the phone itself. My iphone worked fine in the hospital but Bob's old motorola razor couldn't get a signal.

the iPhone must have been a Godsend in the hospital. If this stuff were out when Ashton was in treatment...........wow! Of course, we had many fun times there-so bored one day we painted each others arms and legs and face.

The easy off worked really well-but didn't get rid of it. I do like that i am not scrubbing though-just wiping down. I am re-doing it and leaving it on for a couple hours and see what happens.

Does anyone have a steamer? We are definitely gonna steam clean our carpets here, and in the new house, when we get one-so I was thinking of purchasing a good one instead of paying for it both places. My friend swears by her Hoover steamer, but Bissell looks good too. I am leaning to Hoover though just b/c of my friends recommendations. But not sure-about to look them up to compare.

It was one of those weekends, Kyle got stung too and is at the Dr right now. Poor Jackson, hope he's better today.

The pics of the party are great, love that cake!!!:goodvibes

I think hospitals are notoriously weak for most older phones. I just need to be able to communicate with Kyle once he moves and we got no signal at all on any of our phones, inside or out. And y'all know how mommas are about keeping in touch with the kids.:goodvibes

i found a house I like.ha! keep in mind that all the houston homes we have seen are ugly on the outside.............

Lori - That's a beautiful house!:thumbsup2
