Metro New Orleans DISers - check in!!! - 03/2009

Thanks again for the birthday wishes yesterday. Last night's dinner at Stella! was wonderful. I took a few pictures. I'll try to post them later.

Tricia, I loved seeing your pictures. I can totallly identify with girls not eating in front of the boys. Been there with my DD and her friends. Its funny and cute how girls are:rotfl:

Kat, that is too cool that Kyle has a friend competing the Derby today. I will definitely be pulling for him.

Lori, mint juleps and hats--sounds like a good time:cloud9:

Can't wait to see the pics Mary!

I'd so love to "Do the Derby" one year, big hat and mint julep.....:goodvibes

Have a great Saturday all!

My kids have auditions for thier drama camp in an hour.
Ashton will be in Alice in Wonderland and Haley will be in Sleeping Beauty.
Ashton would LOVE to be Alice, of course, but we will see...she is painfully shy at times, and Haley really wants to be the green fairy-Fauna- the thoughtful fairy!

Wish them luck!

Lori

Ahhhh... I just typed a good post and in one slip of my hand, I deleted the whole thing:confused: It is this silly laptop cause I don't have to push a button to have it happen, just run my hand over the mouse thingy

Sheryl: Thanks for the translation... I have heard those words before but never knew what they meant... and no, I don't think they were directed at me at the time.. but one never knows:laughing:

TigerKat: Good luck to Kyle's friend today.

Lori: Yummy, mint julips and hats... how fun. Glad you liked Disney on Ice. My boys asked to go... but I told them that we are going to do Thomas Live for my Engine loving 4 year old instead. The older ones can choose whether or not they want to attend...

Lorie: Sienna is hilarious. Didn't you know that his lunch looked so much better to her, just because it wasn't hers... and even if it was something that she woud not eat usually. My dad used to eat sardines on crackers (yuck) but as long as it was his... I would eat them and beg for more... the minute they were on my plate... I would turn up my nose at them... (and no, I don't eat them now either)

Mary: Glad you had a great birthday! You are so right about the crime...

Tricia: Those pictures are awesome... and those fruit kabobs... yummy.

Kristina: I hope the refi goes through... You sound like me with the phone. when I finally am able to get something I want... I realize I don't want what I want or don't know what I really want and end up getting something not too different from what I had in the first place...

Bethany: Good luck on getting through your scrapbooking stuff and your cocacola withdrawls...

I can't remember if I told you all this, but last week my mother decided that she wanted to celebrate her birthday (tomorrow) at Disney and wanted to take me up on my offer to pay for her hotel room for the Saturday night (I offered in January)... all that was available last Sunday was the Wilderness Lodge, thank goodness I have three siblings who offered to help... so she is on her way there right now as I type... and I so want to go too:guilty: Today, she is going to visit POR and take some pictures for me and give me a food court review...then take the boat into Downtown Disney for a little bit and enjoy the resort pool.. tomorrow she is going to Animal Kingdom... I hope that she likes it, and I hope that just sending a card for Mother's Day will be enough...

another year, another wasted mint julep stuff-bourbon was $15 and i just couldn't justify it if we hated the stuff. DD's donned hats.
My next thought was to go to a Rite Aid for a small bottle of it, but we no longer have one of those. No drug stores that I know of sell liquor other than them.

We enjoyed watching the race and were happy to see a Louisiana boy win, even if it wasn't who we were rooting for.

We are going to the air show tomorrow-anyone going??
We'll be ready for heat and sun!

I am almost packed for Destin, but so much is going on till then I can hardly get it all together.

Any Kentucky Derby fans here? Kyle is good friends with the jockey riding I Want Revenge. His name is Joe Talamo and he dropped out of high school to pursue his passion and has done very well for himself.

We may have a mutual friend- a teacher I work with was telling me about this jockey and how her family is good friends with him. How did he place? I don't recall seeing the results- beyond the $15 I won off my mom, dad and brother :lmao:

They got scratched, the horse sprained his ankle.:sad1:

Kim! :goodvibes I was JUST thinking about you! I was thinking that I hadn't seen you on in a LONG TIME and I was wondering how you were doing. I know you said you were having electrical/computer/internet issues. Did you get them fixed?

Lorie, before the next meet, remind me to give you some bourbon... I got a huge bottle for Christmas since it is my favorite... but at the rate I drink, it will take 20 years to get through so plenty enough to share so you can have your mint julips next year

What a quiet Sunday! I am just taking it easy before the contractor comes at 3:30. Who knows what Sienna will say to that poor man today...:confused3:rotfl2:

I wish I were at Jazz Fest :guilty:, but that was just not in the cards for me this year. And it has gotten SO expensive to go now- there are so many other things I could use that money on...(::MickeyMo ;)). Still though, I am craving a strawberry lemonade and crawfish cakes sooo bad right now! We really just go and eat our way through Jazz Fest, stopping at various music stages along the way.

I am having Disney cravings too, of course, and was looking at the crowd calendar at touring plans to refresh my memory about the crowd levels in May since that is when we want to go next year. Holy Toledo- they are predicting huge crowds this May! I've never seen it like that before- usually May has low to moderate crowds. I guess all of these deals they've released are having an impact on the crowds... You'd never know the economy is in a funk based on those predicted levels!

Terry- Are you still going on your spontaneous trip this month?

Lori- I love mint juleps, but I can't justify spending the money on bourbon either- I just get them if am out somewhere and the opportunity arises. There is nothing like sipping a mint julep on the verandah of Oak Alley Plantation, for example. :cloud9:

Cara- What a nice gift for your mom! :goodvibes I hope Sienna is as generous when she gets older!

Hey friends!

Well,we didn't go to the air show b/c some really bad thunderstorm bands are coming our way and Belle Chase is at the bottom of it.... but you know with OUR luck, it will dissipate and be gorgeous! But driving 1.5 hours with a chance of rain didn't thrill my DH, esp with all the walking we'd be doing. My hubby is usually one to take the safest route, which I am thankful for during hurricane season.

Let me know, WB gals!

It really is probably good though-I am catching up on uploading pics from some SD cards and still haven't printed out my pics from our Celebrate Life trip in Feb 2008:scared1:. I started to and our photo printer died, but I am going to order them online-I have never done that before!! I have got to get that album done!! All my other WDW trips have completed albums by about a week from the the end of the trip!

Lori

Don't even get me started about photos!

I am SO FAR behind with mine. I had intentions to scrapbook over summer, when I'm not as busy with work, but then I'd take vacations and also go to college classes, so even summer was busy. Now, I am so far behind. I have all the materials now I just need the time. So now what's happening is all the materials are in boxes (YES, got that part mostly done...I had grand intentions to SORT them first but gave up and just started shoving it into boxes. :lmao:)

So that is my BIG PROJECT that I'm hoping I can work on some over the next year since I won't be going to college classes in the evening, working 12 hour days, etc....

OH! And my DH PINKY PROMISED that we can get a little dog in July!! :yay:

And I think it's going to get cold here again. I know only because I put away the down comforter. :lmao:

Happy Sunday.

We are 60% done with the Science Anthropod project. Man how many days do we have left of school? Jeesh.

!

Terry- Are you still going on your spontaneous trip this month?

YES and I can not wait! I have not had an opportunity to think or prepare for it though. :rolleyes1 Been too darn busy!

OH! And my DH PINKY PROMISED that we can get a little dog in July!! :yay:

NICE! What kind are you looking at? Do you have any thoughts?

Not a drop of rain all day!:flower3:

Ditto...I have been hearing the fighter jets off and on as they pass over our house.

Photo's I have been so behind on this as well. I need a weekend just to do this.

windy and pouring here now in Metairie...

It has been like a monsoon here in Little Rock. I had to go out in the worst of it yesterday morning - or so I thought when I think it was even worse coming home a few hours later.

It was New Orleans-like rain - where even my driveway on top of a a hill was flooded because it was raining too hard to drain off. I only had to go about 3-4 miles - most of the other people there had to come in from about 3 hours away.

I think I mentioned the daughter-in-law of a friend who had the tragic accident. She was visiting here from California, tripped in the backyard, hit her head on a brick wall, and was on life support for 2 weeks. She finally let go on Friday. My friend's son (late husband of the woman who just died) was electrocuted in a freak backyard accident 6 years ago. It is just heartbreaking for the 3 children who have lost their parents to such horrible backyard accidents. The youngest is 13 and the oldest is 20.

My dad is doing well - as evidenced by his constant cooking. He is in the kitchen now doing the dishes. He doesn't do that great of a job with the cleaning - so I run everything thru the dishwasher after he's gone to bed, but he likes to help.

I missed Jazz Fest this year too. It just didn't work for me to get away this year.

Don't get me started on the how many days left of school bit! As far as I care, right now there are FIVE...till the next day off! :lmao:

I've wanted a dachshund for about the last 10 years. Short hair with that reddish fur. I'll look on petfinder once we move. I saw some ADORABLE ones up this way when I was putzing around on that site last week (BAD IDEA.) It's got to be a dog smaller than 20 pounds. That's the limit at the apartments.

A weekend? Shoot I need like an uninterrupted MONTH or more. Hmmm...maybe I shouldn't hook up INTERNET until August...might actually ACCOMPLISH something in July! :rotfl2:

It's been raining ALL DAY here - but pretty lightly. I saw your radar. :scared: I have not yet seen New Orleans rain. Every time they said it was gonna rain when I was there, it went somewhere else or dissipated. :confused3 My DH was joking about our rain today saying "wow all the rain...it's like New Orleans!" (he knows its not) and I said "well I hear it rains MUCH HARDER than this, but I really have NO IDEA because it's always 70 and sunny when I'm there!" :confused3

What freak accidents.

I'm glad to hear your dad is feeling well. It's funny how you can gauge his health by how much he cooks. That method would not work with me. ;)
