Metro New Orleans DISers - check in!!! - 03/2009

Lorie, I tried to get a hold of DH to find out what company we used for windshields, but he must be in a meeting. But if you Google windshield repair a bunch of names comes up.

Kathy, I'm glad it wasn't anyone hacking into your acct. !
Kyle"s first checking account! Oh  for Mom!

Mary, Enjoy your dinner at Stella! Can't wait to hear all about it.

cajunmommy, Poo-yi-yi sha! What a coo-yon dat man is! You poor girl, I'd go with the hard stuff... Rosa & Chocolate! ;)

Cajunmommy, what a rat. I can't stand people like that.
Congratulations to your son on his first communion. At least you have that bright spot to think about tonight.:)

Sheryl I tried to get ahold of a foodie friend but will try again.

It's almost 5 here, so it's coming! I am on the bus. Blah.

So I move next month...

Hey guys - thanks for the listen. I'm thinking foo-foo umbrella drinks & hanging out by the neighbors pool might do the trick! Of course, I can't indulge too much, or the 1st communion retreat tomorrow might be a little painful. :upsidedow

Flora - Enjoy your evening @ Stella! Although we'd love to see some food porn, we'll give you a pass as long as you share a review. ;)

Piglet - If you really crave a s'mores, you can do what I do for a quick fix. Nuke one in the microwave! Just watch the marshmallow so you don't get the sticky stuff everywhere! It might be heresy to our camping Girl Scouts in the bunch, but it works for me!

I'm just picturing Bethany trying to figure this out.....:lmao:

Cajunmommy - I think umbrella drinks should work fine!;) What a jerk!!

Hi ladies ----i've had a very long, hard and emotional week. I plan to rest this weekend though. that is when im not helping dd with her anthropod project thats due monday!

Hugs to you lorie....issues seem to come in multiples.

smores......yummy

kathy glad to hear you're feeling better and your money was found.

Kathy- I'm glad the money was found and there wasn't any scamming involved!

cajunmommy and Terry- Sounds like you both could use some drinks! :drinking1

The contractor is gone and the walls are up, but boy do I have a mess to clean up! Drywall dust is the worst. :headache: He comes back again tomorrow to hang the doors, do the baseboards and molding. Testure guy is coming on Sunday evening...weird, but no complaints- the sooner it is done, the better!

Sienna haha of the day...She walked over to the contractor when he took a little break and was eating his sandwich and asked if she could have some because she was hungry. (Mind you, she just told me ten minutes earlier that she didn't want to eat lunch yet.) This child is so bold and not shy that it is just scary!

Bethany, Don't worry about the rest. stuff. She got some tips from our hairdresser! Yes he goes back & forth between NYC & Nola. He is actually going to take them to lunch in NYC tomorrow!

That was cajun slang poo-yi means it stinks, coo-yon means he's stupid!

cajunmommy, Umbrella drinks always do the trick too! Congrats on 1st communion! I think it's would still be Catholic if you show up smelling of umbrella drinks, but stinking drunk would mean going to confession for sure! ;)

Lorie, Did he give her some of his sandwich? You know, you aren't going to have to worry about anyone bullying her or pushing her around. She's got the personality of a leader!

. ;)

Nah, I have done this before for a quick fix! You DO have to watch the marshmallow though!

cajunmommy-ughh... I hope you can shake it off with some fun this weekend!

That is what my plan is.

We know nuthin, so we are trying to pick back up after a truly BLAH week and play like we are not awaiting job news.

Disney on Ice was great-I am a sap as my kids caught a tear in my eye soon as Mickey came out with Minnie, Daisy and Donald-and Goofy too!

I still love it-seeing Mickey here, in NOLA!

A little magic brought home.

Lorie- Ash did the same thing to me as Sienna did to you. I really liked having a csection though! Had it for #2 too after VBAC classes and all.

No, I saved him just in time! I overheard the conversation and ran in when he was saying "Er, uh, you're hungry, huh...." I grabbed her, sat her in her chair and made her eat her own lunch!

And I don't think she'll be bullied either- she's pretty tolerant, but whenever a kid tries to push her around too much, she just pushes them back, but usually much harder. Yeah, we need to work on that...

Glad she has better help than me! :rotfl2: I kept thinking of where I'd eaten lately, and it was all fast food, chain places, or in NOLA. :headache: Guess that means I won't miss too many places to eat up here. Just Grimaldi's...

Thank you! :goodvibes

The heater in my classroom is magnetic; and I have a piece of chart paper hanging from it with magnets. Well, a teacher took the magnets off this morning to hang up another paper over it....at 9:30am. I realized this afternoon (at about 4) that she had put the magnets back on the wall, but not on the paper. The paper was stuck to the wall by itself for more than 6 hours! :rotfl:

I just got a Jeopardy question right. They asked what bird is on the Louisiana state flag. :lmao:
And the first puzzle on Wheel of Fortune was "White Pelican". WTH is going on here?!? :confused3:lmao:

Ok, so I finally got the pictures uploaded from Kendall's party. I sat down this morning to do it and the darn camera battery needed to be recharged. Here are just a few from the luau.

This one is of my family before everyone got here.

Kendall and a few of her friends.

I had so much food and don't you know that the kids hardly ate. I really think it's because the girls didn't want to eat in front of the boys. After the party a few girls slept over and as soon as the last of the kids left they were all starving. Where's the pizza? First words out of their mouths. The only thing that everyone ate was the fruit kabobs I made.

Tricia- those fruit kabobs look soooooooo yummy!

Nice pics!

Lori

Get some rest and you know I'm here if you want to chat.:hug

She's too much Mom...:rotfl2:

Tricia - Great pics! Looks like everyone had a great time. Yes, from experience, I can tell ya the girls eat like birds when the boys are watching then pig out when they're gone.;)

Tricia- Great pics! And I agree that those fruit kabobs do look yummy, especially in this warm weather! Looks like y'all had fun!

I always wanted to have a luau party. DH and I were planning one to celebrate our 1st anniversary, but then Katrina came (and then DD), so you know how that went...

Any Kentucky Derby fans here? Kyle is good friends with the jockey riding I Want Revenge. His name is Joe Talamo and he dropped out of high school to pursue his passion and has done very well for himself.

We may actually buy bourbon for mint juleps- Paul went to Churchill Downs a few years ago and came back with mint julep stuff(green minty stuff in a bottle). I have never had one.

Kathy- we just saw him on the news! We are watching and will root for Kyle's friend! You know how Haley loves horses! We try to watch every year. Since it is like 2 minutes long-we have missed it before! Maybe we'll break out a hat! Haley wears hats all the time, so she's a natural!

I have been looking for the Peter Pan soundtrack for a couple years. I have googled it and gone to music store just for it-never found it. Since my family seems to be venturing into Apple Ipod/iTouch territory-I found it on iTunes!!!I am burning ti to cd-finall!! I may just have to get an iTouch!! O well, maybe, if Paul gets his iPhone, I can have his iTouch!

Lori

hey all! sienna is hysterical; terry you know you can call if you need to vent! cajunmommy sorry about mean people - they suck! lori glad you got to get out and have some fun tonight - I tear up every time something classic disney comes on - not the current stuff, but "when you wish upon a star" etc. grumpy's wife - those floral fruit things looked divine! you have a beautiful family! and piglet...well one more week down! I saw Simone and told her you made it. hope I got everyone's stuff going on!

so our church and it's school rented out city park tonight for a funraiser. jeff dj'd ben franklin's prom at jax brewery (lucky dog) so I volunteered to run the sound system at the park. what a glorious night tonight! the weather was nice (if not a tad hot for me), there was a nice breeze....3 hours outdoors with music, awesome friends and just had a nice time. my legs hurt though!

so still haven't decided on a phone... yeah I know you guys are so surprised! even cut my nails down so I could try the iphone....nothing still makes me go  :(

there are so many choices and i have researched and researched and asked others. there are just too many choices. i was happier when I didn't know all this extra stuff existed! then i looked at my budget and was shocked into reality :scared1: yeah -where the heck is MY bailout? my biggest fear with the iphone is dropping it and destroying the screen..i have dropped my old funky one twice in the last two days!

the papers came today for the home refinancing! yay! but I have to try to get the w-2 for last year from my accountant to turn in. and my last paycheck (which I can only access from work). so hope to have it in by tuesday AM...then it will free up some money to breathe a little. PLEASE pray that God finds favor with us and it goes through...

tomorrow - work on learning a song to lead kid's worship Sunday..get a new phone at all costs and help grayce with her bionome (?) project. she wants to do powerpoint so I need to get this phone quick so I can still connect while she is working on her projects. right?

Good morning.

So yesterday I had my coffee in the morning, but no Coke at ALL!! Woot! Of course, this morning I wake up with a migraine. Caffeine-dependent, much? :headache:

Sheryl - Angelina probably knows this since she's got that friend that knows more about NYC than me :lmao: , but clothes (less than $110) in NYC have no sales tax. (Don't count on that lasting, though...)

Tricia - Those photos are cute. That was in your backyard?

Kristina - You are cracking me up with the phone thing. :rotfl: You sound like me. Lately, I've been needing a new phone yearly. They are supposed to last 2 years. I somehow cannot seem to make them last quite that long. :confused3 Don't get too smart of a phone...I got my Blackberry a year ago now and I'm STILL trying to figure out things on it! I'm trying to make this one last 2 years so I can get a discount on one next year. And maybe by then T-Mobile will have the iphone OR I'll be ready to switch. I've had them since 2001 so I'm kinda partial to them. I need to decide if I want to change the number to 504 or not.

Good luck with the refinancing. Glad the weather was nice for your thing in the park...we are overcast and rainy and probably will be all weekend.

Lori - Who knew the Peter Pan soundtrack would be so hard to find? :confused3 You were "Peter Pan" on the classic movie quiz on facebook, right? Guess it got you pretty accurate also!

Mary - I forgot to wish you Happy Birthday yesterday! :flower3:

Lorie - That Sienna is a trip! I do hope you're writing down some of these cute little stories!

I hope I'm not leaving anybody out. It's not intentional if I am.

I'm going to attempt to deal with this pile of photos and scrapbooking stuff today. This is insanely ambitious, so wish me luck!
