Metro New Orleans DISers - check in!!! - 03/2009

 To you Lorie...I am here for you girl. I know I travel back and forth but when I am here I can definately help out....

Okay...its my turn to vent about my DH...man he made me so angry this morning. He bought a new carpet cleaner about 2 months ago at my request so we can clean our carpet...well i have been super crazy busy and have not gotten around to doing it. Well this morning I asked him if he could please do it and he responds "NO, you asked for it, so you do it." WTH. I went straight off....I told him well WTH, what else are you doing besides laying around all day." No he's not just doing that but I was angry. Dang it would not take long for him to do this. I know he is a bit depressed for not finding a job, he cleans and washes clothes but.....am i being over reactive here.

I really don't think you are over-reacting at all! Although I think some of you girls are Saints! The way I react (over-react) around here, y'all would think my DH is an abused man.

Absolutely NOT over reacting here my friend! I would have been furious...

WOOOOO WEEEEE I would lost my MIND.. yeah yeah prob not the mature way to handle it, but i would have.

He would have gotten the *** is wrong with you scream out of me lol.

Now back the mature side. Hopefully yall will get out of this "discussion" quickly and quietly with issues resolved. But no over reacting at first I dont think so.. carrying it on for days could be a tad over reacting ; ).

On a happier note S.......I went to Ann Taylor today and got the dress you had on at the shower in all three colors too stinking cute! Cant wait to wear them.

hugs gal - I would have throttled him....several friends have husbands in the same position and are also dealing with this. I can understand their pride is all hurt with the tough economy and no job....but they have this aversion to "women's work" and want us to pull the 40+ hour week AND the kids and everything else. and you said please also....mine keeps promising he will cook for me. then calls and says "there's nothing to eat!" (2:30pm TODAY). I told him I just spent an obscene amount of money on Sam's - the freezer AND pantry are chock full....(literally I can't put much more in either). GRR

ok so I got this cool scanner for mac that does double sided scanning...in my quest to go paperless and be more organized....:rotfl: OKAY you can all get up off the floor now....:rotfl2:

Terry, my DH is home all day too and for the life of me I can't figure out why there are certain things he just cannot seem to get done! :headache: :confused3

I just woke up from a 3 hour nap (HEAR THAT, Sheryl?? ;)) in a near panic, wondering just WHAT my classroom must look like after 2 days of me being out. :scared: There's really nothing I can do about it at this point, but gee whiz what a way to wake up! :lmao:

I am going to lose my mind in the next 5.5 weeks. Every time I go to look for something, it's in a different spot than where I left it, or packed. It drives me NUTS not to know where something is. At least the end result should be good...:rolleyes1

And Kristina...paperless is a MYTH. A MYTH, I tell you!

Lorie- you will do great!! I had 2 c-sections after having a surgery to take out a ruptured ectopic that gave me a c-section scar-my c-sections, due to the previous surgery were a BREEZE! I think it was due to the fact I had been there, done it. And my 2nd c-section (haley) or 3rd abdominal sugery, was even easier. You will do fine. Planned c-sections are a good thing-ask my hubby:rotfl:-but no, they really are!

Hugs to you:hug: hugs , girl! That would have sent me over the top too. It can be a wierd thing what not having a job does to a guy, but we were getting to the point you are at.

You all are in my prayers and thoughts for a job-and SOON!

We are narrowing down our area for Houston, and it is not east. Everyone we have talked to that lives there, lived there, or travels there often, has told us the best areas to live, and they are all west of Houston-NW, W, or SW. On another note- they also say no matter which area we are driving home from, it will only add 15 minutes to the drive from over there if we leave at a decent time of the day, avoiding traffic. We had Paul's cousin over today, whose wife grew up in the area and they have lived there for 14 years. He is looking forward to a friend for the LSU and Saints games and I must admit, Paul likes that idea too. This particular cousin of his had a little brother that was the same age as Paul(they were like brothers) and he died at 26. They went to Rummel together and were 1st cousins. We were not real close with the older brother but this guy has lost not only his brother, but his mom and dad too. And that is it of his family. I think Paul, if we have to be in Houston, would like to be close enough for those games. Amazingly, they homeschool too! They live in Cypress.

We'll see. Housing costs are better there, but OMG property taxes add like $500 to your note-per month!!! So we will be looking for a house in the same price range we have now, or less-but will be able to get a bigger one!

Lori

Hey y'all!

I'm ok, no baby yet! I was very busy yesterday- putting together the last of the baby stuff (pack n play/bassinet) and washing baby clothes and putting everything away. I also had a mountain of regular laundry to do. Don't fuss at me Sheryl and Kathy! I'm exhausted today and plan on doing nothing but cooking jambalaya for dinner (I'm making DH peel the shrimp :thumbsup2). But, I think I'm done with all of the physical work I had to do regarding getting ready for the baby. :cool1: I just have to keep up with the regular housework and cooking now.

I'll admit, I'm getting more scared now as the date gets closer! I decided to refresh my memory last night on c-section recovery and I really wish I didn't. I'm kind of freaking out because I forgot how much longer and difficult the recovery can be. It was different when I had Sienna because I didn't have another small child to take care of and we lived in a small apartment at the time that was easier to get around in and take care of (since our house was being repaired at the time because of K)- not the bigger old house now that constantly needs cleaning. DH is telling me not to worry, I'm being ridiculous, he and MIL are here to help, etc. He is taking off three weeks from work to help, so I really need to just trust him and let go of my control issues, lol.

Anyway, time to go back and catch up! Now I'm rambling...:rotfl:

I was scared too for my 2nd section. It was a breeze. There are some bright spots-hello, no labor:cheer2:-to a section. 2 of my friends had babies the "normal" way a few days before and after I had my son. Their episiotomy gave them more trouble than my staples gave me. Also, because of the pain meds in the hospital, I left feeling more rested. In 2 weeks, I was back in all of my clothes. It takes a lot more calories to heal from a section!
It will be ok! Let your husband and MIL help as much as they want. You can rest and will feel better much more quickly than if you try to do too much.

Thanks for the reassurances y'all! I do feel a little better now...

Just to clarify, MIL won't be staying here to help- she'll be at her house on-call if we need help with DD (DD is also staying with her while I'm in the hospital). So it will be DH playing Mr. Mom for three weeks, which is scaring me- :scared1:. Since we're complaining about husbands ;)...mine tends to be a bit more lax than I am regarding housework. Okay, a LOT more lax! :rotfl: And he lets DD pretty much do whatever she wants, so I'm afraid of the backlash from her once I'm on my own again and I try to enforce "the rules". I'm going to try to just let it go though and relax and try to focus on the new snuggly baby. :goodvibes

Terry- Oh my, I'd be ticked off too! I don't think you overreacted at all, but then again I've been accused of overreacting myself about things...;)

Lori- I know what you mean about those Texas property taxes! We were looking at the home prices too when we were in Houston and were surprised at how low the prices were (or how much house you could get for a good price), but then saw how much the property taxes were-. So it sort of balances out.

Kristina- Paperless? I'm impressed! I could never see that happening at our house...:sad2:

Lorie, sorry I missed your post. You have nothing to worry about. As everyone has stated planned c-sections are a breeze and you look great when it's over.:thumbsup2

Thanks guys for the reasurances...well no surprise that when I got home today he had not done it..oh well. I guess I'll get around to it at some point.

Jenny girl all three colors....I had to control myself.

You know what makes me feel better about this whole move. A plus to being a member of an online community??? The fact that you all will still be RIGHT HERE. And you will make me feel at home.

Thank you ahead of time!

So pretty.. I would def come see it from curb appeal alone. My hydrangeas arent blooming this year. Darn.

we love it. it is small-only 1250 SF and about 1500 with single car garage. But the planner and builder did a GREAT job on making it "feel" bigger. We have limited storage space in the house itself and we have made it work-bins, baskets, cabinets in garage from a post K house-friends of mine who had to replace thier kitchen but upper cabinets were perfect!! She gave them to us! I am a master at "making small spaces work"-at least for me!! Our rooms are decent sized and our bedroom is quite large.

We put a shed up so the garage is our storage space. And the attic is pretty darn big for the house. i hang clothes up there too(seasonal).

I am, however, looking forward to having a laundry ROOM. Mine are in my garage.:upsidedow

I gotta go to bed-gotta work tomorrow:scared:
