Metro New Orleans DISers - check in!!! - 03/2009

I have had ther worst freaking day-Have you ever been soooo annoyed by the one you love the most that you can't take his voice -you need a break from it for a few hours but if it comes back in the same annoying pattern you wanna scream and hit something????

Um...in a word...YES!

I did go to the doctor. I had fallen asleep and didn't wake up until around 11 so it would have been nearly impossible to get walk-in at the office, so I went to the ER. They have like a dual ER - trauma and "fast-track" (like a clinic...but it's not that fast). From the time I got there to when I left it was about 4.5 hours; which is probably less than the clinic would have been - one time I went at 8am walk-in to the clinic and they left for lunch and I wasn't seen until the afternoon.

I do have a slight fever; just over 100. I'm usually around 96 so this is pretty high for me. It's not swine flu (I didn't think it was) but it may be regular flu (but they didn't test for it because it's so unreliable it's pointless. :confused3) They did do a chest x-ray to rule out pneumonia; it's likely bronchitis. They did give me antibiotics and sudafed...he said I could take sudafed. :thumbsup2

And he doesn't want me going back to work until Friday. I got a doctor's note for that. :thumbsup2 Another thing is they said it may be environmental, but until there is a change in environment they cannot say for sure.

and our clients complain about waiting 20 minutes. :sad2: Huzzah! for sudafed.

I am not feeling well. we had the cat in the house last night ( the one that has adopted us) and Jeff decided this thing needed to be spayed. so he brought it to the SPCA..well they called after it was under anesthesia and said "uh, it has already been spayed..." :confused3 whatever...so they cut a part of it's ear or something that should indicate it. then the cat had to hang out this afternoon cause it was still groggy.

Yes, they need to be spayed, or else come spring there will lots and lots and lots more of them! :scared1: Ear tipping lets people know the cat is already altered so they won't be trapped/brought in/anesthetized unnecessarily. Though they could have shaved her abdomen and checked for a spay scar BEFORE knocking her out.:confused3

Okay...its my turn to vent about my DH...man he made me so angry this morning. He bought a new carpet cleaner about 2 months ago at my request so we can clean our carpet...well i have been super crazy busy and have not gotten around to doing it. Well this morning I asked him if he could please do it and he responds "NO, you asked for it, so you do it." WTH. I went straight off....I told him well WTH, what else are you doing besides laying around all day." No he's not just doing that but I was angry. Dang it would not take long for him to do this. I know he is a bit depressed for not finding a job, he cleans and washes clothes but.....am i being over reactive here.

Been there. Done that. Got the tee-shirt. But actually Tony weeded the garden, cut the grass and ALMOST finished cleaning the kitchen over the past two days. Of course he didn't change litter boxes, FINISH cleaning the kitchen, edge or weed eat the grass or plant the clippings along the back fence, but I guess I'll take what I can get.

You know what makes me feel better about this whole move. A plus to being a member of an online community??? The fact that you all will still be RIGHT HERE. And you will make me feel at home.

Thank you ahead of time!

Lori

I'm not going anywhere. Once a New Orleanian, always a New Orleanian.

So I've had a fairly miserable past two days. Wednesday started well enough. But then an emergency came in. WARNING: THIS PART MIGHT GROSS YOU OUT. YOU'VE BEEN WARNED. Highlight this if you really want to know: The cat rushed in was rolled over by a car. His skin from midback down to his tail and down his side and over his left leg had all been ripped back. We had to try to decontaminate the inside of the skin and the exposed tissue and muscle before we could stretch it back over him and stitch it back into place. Very tedious to begin with but complicated by gravel and hair. Hey, I warned you. We finished surgery on the emergency at 10:30pm. THEN we went to one of our long-term client's house to put his cat to sleep :sad1: (he had been battling lymphoma for several months). I clocked out at 11:45pm.

This morning I'm working by myself, though I'm supposed to have an assistant. Then another emergency came in. Acute kidney failure; more IV fluids (this makes 3 patients on IVs for today - think intense nursing required). Add to it a pounding headache (6 advil before noon) and hardly any sleep, 3 critical patients, a highly contagious kitten in the isolation ward and a full schedule of appointments. To top it all off, our late night surgery from yesterday had started to smell. We went to change his bandages at the end of the day and find (time to highlight again) gangrene. All the skin we worked so long to save was dying anyway. all our efforts were for naught. :sad1: At least we had him resting with massive amounts of pain meds. We put him to sleep tonight at 8:30.

Don't get me wrong. I love my job, and there are some wonderful moments, but some days I wonder if I've done anyone any good.

lori - I love the archway by the front door. And that is a very nice, lush garden. Mine seems so dinky now.

Lori...your house is TOO CUTE! And the yard is cute too. HOW do you get the grass so green? :confused3 I don't think you will have a hard time selling your house, despite you wanting to stay as long as possible! And yeah, I'll still stick around on this thread. Now that I finally WILL be in metro NOLA. :lmao: I'm going to have to watch those videos tonight.

Speaking of green grass...did any of you catch the grass at the park in Denver on SYTYCD last night? Straight up BROWN. ALL OVER. :lmao:

Jamie, give your garden time. It's off to a great start! That is sad about the cat.

I'm off to work again today. Not looking forward to it at all. My stomach is getting upset at the thought of going in, and I don't leave for about an hour! "Only" 25 days left...25 days...:headache:

Have a great day everybody! I promise I'm going to try to!

GM & TGIF NOLA.

Lori yes your daughter was soooo cute. Your home is also too cute. Your hubby did a nice job on the garden too.

O my I don't think i would have the stomache to operate on pets.

Good morning NOLA.

Jamie I shouldn't have looked. You warned us but I looked anyway.

Lori your house is very cute and your daughter did a wonderful job performing. She's a natural.

Today is packing day for me. I've got the suitcases out just waiting to be filled and here I sit on the DIS. :rotfl:

Tricia & Terry - I'm so jealous!!!!!

It is a good feeling to know we'll always have each other.:grouphug:

small but loved....I took some photos of the outside of our home the other morning...the inside is not where NEAR ready!

Your house is lovely!

We went to change his bandages at the end of the day and find (time to highlight again) gangrene. All the skin we worked so long to save was dying anyway. all our efforts were for naught. :sad1: At least we had him resting with massive amounts of pain meds. We put him to sleep tonight at 8:30.

Poor baby. I don't know how you do it.

Hey y'all,

Feeling a bit yucky today, IBS & sinuses.

Lori, Ashton's voice is so pretty! :thumbsup2 What a great job she did on Simon! Really good and so funny! :lmao: Your house looks really pretty! They say curb appeal makes a difference & you've got it! Did you need any advice on bond for deed? Bob could help you with that.

Jamie, What an awful day!

Y'all have a good one.

Hey y'all!

My hair is done- yay! She cut it really short so I don't have to go in for awhile...because you know I'll be a bit busy in the next coming weeks. ;) The ladies at the salon were just awed by my belly and some asked to touch it- they were so surprised that it is hard and that you can feel limbs in some places. They almost looked a little frightened!

I tried to do some mall shopping too, but that was over quickly- I just can't walk that far anymore. Too bad because there were lots of Memorial Day Sales going on!

Sheryl- I hope you feel better!

Jamie- I could never do what you do either- I've always had a soft spot for animals.

Lori- Love the videos- Ashton did so well! And your house is so cute! I love your little garden. :flower3: Definite curb appeal.

Terry and Tricia- Only a few days left! :cool1: You know I'm jealous! Hopefully I'll be either on my way or already there this time next year.

Lorie, I'm glad you're haircut made you feel so spiffy! :goodvibes I'm doing okay, just bummed cus I planned a day of WF's, Rouse's and errands.

I'm not sure if I've been posting all the drama with our home health aide here. Turns out she has appendicitis. The good news is we have another one coming out to meet us this evening! DH said she sounds really on top of it, well spoken and a good listener! I told him not to tease me like that!

Wow! Looks like a few of us may be at WDW at the same time! We leave on the 30th, coming home on June 5th.

Just when I thought I might be catching up on what I've missed on the group, our phones and internet went down. We had both with AT&T and we were told they couldn't come out for a week. That was completely unacceptable! Well, they didn't even come out and tell us it would be a week. They said they guaranteed to have someone out WITHIN a week. When I told them my husband is in real estate and really needs the internet at home they said they would note that and move us up the list. It was a lie. When I called back on Wednesday, our appointement was still set for the 22nd....today. I told them I was calling Cox Cable and whoever could get out here faster would get our service. Cox could come out the next day (yesterday) and we went with them. I took great pleasure in calling AT&T today and cancelling both our internet and phones with them. <evil grin> We've been thinking about doing away with our home phones for a while now. All we ever use is our cell phones now so why pay that extra every month. So, I'm back online! Woo Hoo! And one less bill to pay each month!

I got a cut today too! That's too funny, they wanted to touch your belly.

Oooohhh, I may call you if we need to look more into that option. I have a friend that was burned by doing this, but I am not sure she covered all her bases. She has a BIG heart and tried to help someone out. I am not that nice:rolleyes1 when it comes to my money and my credit!! BUT we are interested in hearing about our options. Yes I will help my sister get our home, but not to my disadvantage.

We are going to Houston next week to check out areas. I am VERY nervous. Don't know completely why. Kids will be at MIL's, dogs,???? not sure yet. 3 nights.

If everything goes well, I'll be wigged out, if it doesn't go well, I'll be more wigged out-Disney may come at a perfect time, but that is sorta up in the air still(but instead of a 50/50 chance of going, it is a 75% chance of going). Again, planning like it is 100%!!! Only a move could mess it up if it happens during that month soooo we will see!

Lorie- I think about you daily, wondering when Erik will be coming! Glad your hair is done and that always makes you feel better.

Bethany- counting down with you!

Lori

Are you feeling any better?

I bet your hair looks cute! And now the baby can come since your hair is done. That's what you were waiting for, right? :lmao:
I don't like to cut my hair to short at the beginning of summer because I hate having it on my neck. It needs to be long enough for me to pull it ALL up.

If it makes you feel any better, I can't take advantage of the sales either...but for an entirely different reason!

Good grief I hope you get all this stuff figured out, especially before your surgery!

Hi! :wave2: So, is Cox usually that quick or was this some sort of freak of nature experience?

We are going to Houston next week to check out areas. I am VERY nervous. Don't know completely why. Kids will be at MIL's, dogs,???? not sure yet. 3 nights.

Bethany- counting down with you!

I hope your Houston trip goes well. We did a "check out areas" trip that was thinly disguised as a Mardi Gras trip. :rotfl: Don't forget to drive around the same areas you are interested at different times of the day. And supermarkets and coffee shops can be enlightening experiences. Who knew?

And I will tell you why you are nervous. ;) Every time you have to take a physical step closer to this move, or do SOME ACTION that leads you in that direction, you will feel nervous, anxious, and excited. Do you remember back in January I practically had to be beat over the head with a brick to take the first step of mailing in the state certification paperwork? Do you know I was so freaked out over the February trip that I almost backed out?

Basically, you're nervous because it's becoming more REAL and CHANGE IS SCARY.

Thanks....did you get 39? I count 39 (24 of which I have to go to work :headache:) Today was the kind of day that made me want to just up and leave NOW. I was counting the links on my chain when I got home. It IS getting shorter....

When I talked to the lady on the phone on Wednesday, she said that they usually can get out by the next day, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Our next door neighbor has Cox also and said they are pretty good to deal with.

Well the packing is done all except for the things we need in the morning and of course the ice chest. The kids and I vacuumed

out my SUV last night. I'm quite sure it won't come home as clean as when we leave. This morning I'm going to bring Gracie and Fred (the dog and fish)

:fish: to my mom's house. They get a little vacation in the country for a week too.

Enjoy your Saturday ladies. It may be a wet one.
