Metro New Orleans DISers - check in!!! - 03/2009

Sheryl update - Her doctor will not schedule the surgery because of the facial numbness. She needs to go to her primary dr. so that they can rule out the possibility that she's had a stroke or mini-strokes. She'll be doing that today.

Oh my.... Prayers being offered now....

Morning ladies!

Love ya Sheryl.. prayers being said and tons of hugs and good thoughts being sent your way.

Dreamed about WDW last night woke up dying to book a trip.

Lorie.. I frogs , i bet it is super cute! LOL at the eviction!

Have a great day ladies, Im off to do a little horse back riding with Jack.. which I love, but the 3 margaritas from last night are playing hell with my head.
Kill. Me. Now.

I like frogs also...that sounds like a cute room Lorie!
I did the same thing-a generic practical room for Ashton(didn't know what she was gonna be!)-it was all moons and stars(blues and yeallows) and Winnie the Pooh, but it just didn't "fit" Haley, so I did her room in teddy bears-all blue and cream(and I knew she was a girl)-can you tell I am not a "pink" person, even for girls?? My kids wore much more blue than pink. I love blue on girls. I love blues anyway though.

have fun riding horses!! Do you have horses??

Haley LOVES horses. She has a horse room and would only read books about horses for a long time. She took English style lessons for a year, but the trainer moved up north. We haven't gotten her back into it, and now surely isn't the best time.

Lori

Continued prayers being said over here for Sheryl too....

Lorie girl you are hilarious...eviction. LOL. You have to start from scratch with the clothes though...ugh...You sound like you don't want to get started doing things but I hope you have bought some clothes for him??? RIGHT?

scheduled for eviction!!!! :lmao: did you have to go to court for that...

You will handle two just fine! Your imagination is so much worse than the actual experience... And usually you don't get two hard newborns... I joke that Logan tried hard to be an only child, he was something else. Thankfully the last two were little cherubs that rarely cried... I hope that you end up with that experience (being that you already had a difficult one)
I too joked that DD was trying to be an only child...and I thought she would be for awhile there. I've been hearing that if your first was hard, then the second will be easy...I've got my fingers crossed!

I'm the same way- I'm not much of a pink fan, and you'll rarely see it on DD unless it was a gift from someone else. She wears lots of blue too- it is my favorite color!

Oh yeah, I have bought him some clothes, and I've done a good job on holding back from buying too much...a lesson learned from DD! She had so many newborn clothes that some of it didn't even get worn! Plus, she was a big baby so those newborn and 0-3 month sizes were either never worn or only worn for a couple of weeks. I have a feeling this baby will be a chubster too, so I'll buy more once he's born and we know how big he really is!

Lorie- my FAVORITE blue is cerulean. How I love that color. It seems to be the color of the gulf, on a good day in Destin, of the water that is not near, but right past the sandbars, and not the deep dark blue as it goes further out. The middle blue color. Love it....

My Mickey Moms party went well and I did not dish about my "secret"-just not the right ones... here is the link to a description of the party, which was very simple.

That's MY favorite shade of blue! It's been in the Crayola box for years....couldn't pronounce it as a kid, but I liked the color so used it anyways. :lmao:

I had no idea it was the color of water though...our water up here is a little :scared: looking. Is it SUPPOSED to foam as the river hits the shore?

Yes, I LOVE Binney and Smith Crayola crayons. I have a wierd thing I do every year b/c I want my box of crayons-the BIG one-new, every year. I do not let my kids touch my new box of crayons unless it is for a "special poject", but then halfway through the year I let them at it. I DO buy them their own smaller boxes, but I just am wierd about my crayons. And they cannot be anything but the B&S Crayola kind. Next school year, I am gettting all of us our own BIG box. B/c as they get older, I feel more guilty about hanging on to my crayons like a neurotic person!

It has been my favorite color for a long time too!

Foam sounds questionable, huh.

I thought I was the only one with a crayon "issue". :lmao: This year I found the COOLEST crayons. They are the "true to life" ones. They are twist-up and have 3 colors together in one crayon and so when you color with them you get blended colors.

I have so many crayons. Not quite sure what to do with them at this point...

/
I have those too!!!!

I get all those wierd crayons that go on clearance-like the true to life ones. My kids LOVE them!!

I have another friend that shares my crayon issue-but was brought to the next level. Her DH knows this wierd love she has for crayons and so he bought her a pack of new ones and took her old ones and grated them with a cheese grater and put it into a wooden dish with a lid. She calls it her crayola potpourri. It is very pretty actually. She says he ruined the cheese grater though! It is all these sweet little curls of color!

If you write to the company, they will send you stuff too as well as monthly emails-activities, etc... I got these paint textures to add to colored paint from them for free. It is little cups of 3-one makes it pearly, one makes it sandy/gritty, and one makes it glittery. They sent me a pack of like 30 of them. My kids LOVE them for painting/texturizing.

Lori

I am worried my crayons are all going to melt this summer in the moving truck. Of all things to worry about....:rotfl:

Oh Sheryl :hug:prayers being said like crazy for you. I hope you start feeling better soon.
Ditto from the other Tricia.

-can you tell I am not a "pink" person, even for girls?? Lori
More pink for me! I have a pink iphone cover, a pink camera (doesn't get mixed up with other cameras), and had to force myself not to buy a pink ipod.

I am worried my crayons are all going to melt this summer in the moving truck. Of all things to worry about....:rotfl:
Not a crazy worry. My mother stored candles in the refrigerator or freezer for years - back before we had central air.

Hey friends,

I realize I have probably worried y'all to death going MIA. :guilty: Thanks & hugs to all of you for thinking of & praying for me.

Kat, Extra Hugs & I'm very grateful for you checking in on me & keeping everyone here (& my other threads) updated.

Jenny, Thanks to you too for checking on me!

Long story short, I did not have a stroke or mini-stroke. I saw a primary doc this morning & she saw no signs of that. I just got off the phone with the Nurse Pract. for my surgeon & she cleared me to scedule surgery. I need to get back with someone else to do that. So I back to trying to make it work for everyone & can't seem to do that. I will probably be having surgery in May or in July after my niece's wedding. Can't make up my mind.

Again I'm sorry I haven't been checking in, but life just has me so overwhelmed right now, I'm just not able to handle it all.

I do miss y'all & am trying to pull it all together so I can keep up.
Love & appreciate Y'all! :grouphug:

Hi girl! SO glad that it you didnt have a stroke!.

We are here for you. We all love you lots!

We dont have horses, but a friend of ours has stables in Albany .. 40 gorgeous acres. I am thinking very seriously about buying him one. Trying to wait awhile though, dont want to make any major purchases right now.

Not a crazy worry. My mother stored candles in the refrigerator or freezer for years - back before we had central air.

Why didn't I think of that? I had candles melt in one of my apartments in Denver. I used an oral thermometer to take the room temperature and it maxed out at 105. It was a weebit warm in there in the summer.

 Oh Sheryl...SOOO glad you didn't have a stroke! Things will work out so you can get this done. It sounds like you NEED to get it done, and sooner rather than later.

Stay strong and check in sometimes...don't try to keep up. Just let us know you're okay and if you need anything.

Glad to hear about your Mickey's Mom Party!

I love that shade of blue... it is my favorite shade of the blues... but green is my favorite color

I am funny with my crayons too... DH bought RoseArt home once... and he quickly learned, it is Crayola or NOTHING:rotfl:

Bring them on down! We use crayons here:dance3:

Nah... my crayons survived just fine in my not a/c garage.... just don't squeeze the box and dont open them before they are fully cooled down... of course if you want to be really funny, you could just get a cooler...

Oh Sheryl, I am glad you didn't have any TIA's or anything else like that. You are in my prayers for strength and healing.

We dont have horses, but a friend of ours has stables in Albany .. 40 gorgeous acres. I am thinking very seriously about buying him one. Trying to wait awhile though, dont want to make any major purchases right now.

Uh, yeah, that is a BIG purchase. It is not the horse cost, it is the upkeep! I have a couple friends who have them and they are just oh so gorgeous! I wish, I had the land for one for Haley, b/c paying for someone else to board them is prciey and it would be impossible for us to have to GO somewhere on an almost daily basis to care for it.
I was floored to find out that people lease horses to "try" out owning a horse.

Lori I just heard about this place over the weekend. My niece was telling me how she got her haircut there and loved it. I think it was only $14.00 for walk ins or something close to that. So why did it take 5 hours? Did the girl do something wrong?

I read about your Mickey Moms Party. It sounds like you all had lots of fun.

Sheryl thank goodness you didn't have a stroke. I'll continue to keep you in my prayers.

When I booked it, they told me a color(highlight) and cut and style would take about 3 hours. About an hour more than the normal professional time slot. BUT, it took long b/c the girl was pretty meticulous and had a teacher come by after every step she took. She was NOT new to the program, but more than halfway done. They are all students, so I think, unless you are VERY particular, you have to have an open mind about going there. I mean, I am picky, I knew what i wanted. Explaining it wasn't too hard.(I wanted highlights, but not too blonde, I wanted them warm with red tint-like copper. needed those greys to blend in or be covered!).

It was $66 for highlight, cut and style. I am happy with it. The highlights are allover, not just on top.(they asked me and I had no idea what they meant at first!). I gave a $10 tip b/c this girl worked hard on my head. I debated giving her as much b/c it took freakin forever, but we talked a good bit and she is new-everything takes longer when you first start out, right? I know I did. My 15-20 minute echoes took an hour when i first started out. Plus, I saved a buttload of $$ on getting it done by them. Other quotes from various places were over $100, easy. I will go back.

Ditto from the other Tricia.

More pink for me! I have a pink iphone cover, a pink camera (doesn't get mixed up with other cameras), and had to force myself not to buy a pink ipod.

Oh, I like pink too, but for baby girls, it is just blue for me!
I have a pink camera, but my Centro is blue. I love that so many electronics are girly-fied now adays. I wouldn't get a blue ipod though, b/c it is not the right shade of blue for me! I'd probably go with the silver.

Even carseats-you have your pinks and your blues-for that I woulda had the flowery pinks I think, Unless there was a flowery blue!

Hey, on a COMPLETE opposite note-any of you with hysterectomies experience extreme fatigue 6mos to a year later???

I ahve been beyond any motivation to get up and exersize. I am completely TIRED a good bit lately. I have gained a couple pounds due to it. Or maybe just not as toned as I was. Amazing what a couple months of not getting up off your butt can do to you so fast!! I do eat a lot less, which should balance out the sedentary lifestyle I have had recently!

oh PLEASE don't let Grayce know this. she has been dying for a pony since she could say it... :rotfl: she wants one. now. we have a condo...no backyard.

been praying for you Sheryl and glad it isn't as dire as we had feared!

I had my own doctor visit today....one of those only girl deals. my monthly gift (laughing at that stupid commerical) was lost in the mail for 6 weeks, then hung around for 2 weeks and came back a week later....doctor called me in today for a biopsy. that is a scary word and didn't feel too good either. she assured me I would "just feel a pinch" - pinch my *!*!)!((#*. sorry - still cramping from it. did bloodwork to see if I am anemic....I have been incredibly tired these last few days.. :(
