Metro New Orleans DISers - check in!!! - 03/2009

I saw that on mousesavers.com that there is a spring room-only discount code that is good through June 6th...I think I read on the codes and rates board that it is 35% off.

ETA: It is also listed on disneyworld.com under special offers

ETA again!: It lists the WL at $179 a night at the end of May with this discount! :yay:

THANKS Lorie. :thumbsup2

I'm back in my apartment. I actually got in about 5 hours ago, but I took a nap. I'm still so groggy.

I'm referring to that storm that passed through the Northshore two nights ago as "The Storm So Nice I Got It Thrice". Got the edge of it in Metairie, flew over it today - bumpy for the longest "only 10 minutes" ever - and now it's passing through here. Leave me ALONE already!! :lmao: At least it's just been rain and not much else.

Ooooh....a trip to WDW? Doooooo it!!!

I think we flew through a lot of it yesterday coming back from Orlando. Talk about pray!! That was the first time I checked to make sure that I hd a barf bag. Thank God, Marie had mistakenly taken Nyquil instead of a daytime sinus medication-she slept through all but the last few minutes. Never in my life has a flight been so quiet. Everyone was scared to death. I know what a vodka martini feels like when it's shaken. From now on, I stir martinis.

It was not the bumpiest flight I've ever had, but it wasn't fun. When I got to JFK, most of the departures listed to Florida were delayed or canceled, although a few flights were coming in from Florida. Our luggage got put on a shared carousel with a flight from Jacksonville. JetBlue, however, failed to tell us this. They had us waiting at one baggage claim and the luggage was coming out at a carousel across the room. :confused3

Despite having slept for 5 hours, I'm still tired and about to go to sleep again. :rotfl:

Did you have a good trip?:)

It was not our best trip. The crowds were the worst I've seen in 36 years of going to Disney World. I never though that I'd say this but I don't care to go back for a long time. We did all of the right things, got up about 5-5:30 am, had touring plans, got to the parks well before rope drop and still fought crowds the whole time. The best (worst) was at Hollywood Studios:

We get there and we have trouble with the 2 of the Annual passes. Finally, the CM lets us in and I tell the girls to go wait with the crowd for RnR.

Meanwhile, I go to guest services so that the tickets can be reissued.

The guy is quite possibly the slowest moving CM in history. He gets them done, scans them to make sure they work and I ask him to scan the 3rd ticket to make sure that we won't have anymore problems. He sees that the
3rd pass is also in my name and starts to fuss at me! I told him that the ticket was issued at Epcot in November and that I had told the CM it should be in my niece Ashley's name but for whatever reason-probably because I'm the DVC member- he put my name on it. Finally, he gets the tickets straight.

I get in the now big crowd to go for FPs for TSM. We are led to the FP machines after rope drop, I wait in line 20 minutes for my turn -that's how long the lines were!-and guess what?-the tickets don't work! The CM gave me a Fast Pass override thing to use all day.

However, I wanted the dang tickets to work so I go back to guest services.

The same guy waits on me and then accuses me of trying to get FPs w/out my daughter and her crew being in the park!!! He asked, "Well, where are they?" I told him they were waiting in the standby line for ToT because I couldn't get FPs for them. I was not happy. In fact, his name is Pete and I'm writing to WDW to let them know what a butt he is.

So to make a long story short, we made the best of it but this was our worst and most frustrating trip ever.

I hope everyone else has a much better trip than we did!!

So sorry you didn't have a good trip... what a grumpy cast member... I wonder if he had recieved a pink slip yet? I had heard that a lot of them are on edge with all the layoffs they have been having... but still no excuse for that.

Maybe I won't send the letter. I'd hate for anyone to lose their job. He was just such a wet blanket and so rude.

Happy Hump day ladies!

It sure is a beautiful morning...Whew.

RiesMom - I am sorry your trip was not so magical. Where did you stay?

Okay I am on the line with WDW now trying to book our trip. Man the discount Lorie directed me to is saving me loads of money!!! I am getting a room, free dining and 4 day tickets for us for the price of what the room only would cost!!!!! :woohoo::woohoo:

Terry, wow, great deal!

rie's mom, sorry you went through that. I was reading last week about the wait times for some of the rides. I don't think I've seen them that long before. Didn't ya'll go to Universal too?

We stayed at the Yacht Club. I'm actually pretty embarrassed about my rant last night. The Disney part of the trip was pretty bad but I should be grateful that we were able to go.
I'm glad that you found such a great discount!!!

Yes we did and I meant to post that if anyone wants to go to Orlando during a very busy time, I suggest staying onsite at Universal. The girls longest wait was 10 minutes with the front of the line access. I am planning to take Rie and a guest to Universal once the Harry Potter section opens.

We went two months ago, and stayed at Portofino. Front of the line access is worth every penny. I loved the hotel. I could have just stayed there all day, but I enjoyed the parks just as much.

I also want to go when Harry Potter opens:cool1:

The Portofino is beautiful!!!! We stayed there Thanksgiving 2007. My daughter is hooked on the Royal Pacific. I think it may be sentimental because it was the first Uni hotel we visited. She's 15 and I can't get her to even try the Hard Rock!

Terry- I'm so glad you got a great rate! :woohoo: If there's anything I love more than WDW it's a great deal- so getting a great deal at WDW is like nirvana to me!

rie's mom- Sorry your stay was a little rough. The cast member was probably cranky because of the crowds too. This reminds me why I'll never go for DD's birthday (it's always during Spring Break). My first trip to WDW was Easter week, and never again. It was crazy crowded and this was the time before fastpass! :scared1:

Mary- I also want to go to Universal when Harry Potter opens! :yay: We stayed twice before at the Royal Pacific Resort and absolutely loved it there! :lovestruc

Good Morning NOLA! (Or, what's left of the morning....I've basically slept since I got back to NYC. oops. :lmao:)

The weather is PERFECT for sleeping. Overcast, chilly (48 but "feels like 41"), and raining ice pellets. I think I'll stay inside and not find out what 41 "feels like" since I've forgotten and don't care to be reminded. :rotfl:

Rie'smom - sorry your trip was so crowded. That can be so frustrating. My DH keeps saying he's not going back to Disney until I'll go to Universal and Sea World also. I've never been to the Florida ones....so I guess next trip I'll be going to them, especially since without them there may not BE a next trip! :lmao: Next trip is looking like 2011, MAYBE 2010 if we're lucky.

I think this is angst from the layoffs. The ARE laying off 1900 park employees (DH saw that# on some business sight-google finance or something)

Me too! I heard this was not opening till '11 now. Is that true??

I have never stayed anyplace except Disney, GKTW and a dinky little Howard Johnson in Kissimmee for 2 nights added on to the end of MAW trip at GKTW. If we had known then what we know now, we'd have called and stayed on property, but the founder of GKTW owns a bunch of hotels in Kissimmee and we stayed at one of his for like $35 a night or something! It was a FAR cry from the week we had previously at GKTW!!!

Still nuthin from DH's old boss, patiently waiting....
this is one of those thngs that will be God's timing and not our own. Sometimes I feel He can take His time.:guilty:But I guess that is His perogative(sp?) right?? All in His timing... this is a hard lesson for us,b/c we keep getting tested in it!;)

We walked to Royal Pacific and had lunch there one day. It is a beautiful place. I really liked the elephant fountain there.

Never in my life has a flight been so quiet.
I had the WORST landing of a plane a couple of years ago,and I've literally flown 100s of thousands of miles around the world. I swear we bounced 20 feet back off the runway. We hit bone-jarring hard on landing.

The plane was very quiet until we hit so hard, and there was a loud "swear word". The whole plane laughed. (and it was me who normally never even uses mild swear words).
