Met with DVC last week....

Oh yeah over the holidays rooms rent for like $18 a pt -- we will still save a lot of money. i know we can save $ going other ways but i have other concerns doing this....

It's still about the same because room rates have also risen significantly. Even with a 35% FL resident discount the current room costs are ridiculously high. Was recently discussing this with some friends. If you use $10 cost per point for VGF (about $3.3 per point over the life of the contract plus maintenance fees rounded up to make an easy number to multiply) and look at a studio in September (when they were staying) at 17 points per night for standard and 20 for lakeview. Your effective cost right now is $170-$200 per night - much less than what a cash rate is for that same studio...heck...I think it was even less that what they were paying at Port Orleans in a Princess room.

Price per point has gone up 250% in 14 years and dues increase about 3% per year. I do not think room prices have increased at this rate. To put in perspective my 240 points I bought in 2000 cost me 16,500, today at VGF would cost 39,600. And my dues have gone up about $2 per point. Cannot believe break even would be the same.

Obviously, Disney is very concerned with doing things in a legit way.

The Kiosks for DVC used to say "Save up to 70%". When I was there a year or so ago, it was when they were just changing them all to "Save up to 50%".
If what you can save is a lower percentage, break even point much be further away.
