Hydroguy, I must say that I wish I had read your report of the differences between WDW and DL before I went to DL, because you were pretty "spot on". Your post for DL vets visiting WDW is pretty much accurate as well, IMHO. You must have taken a tremendous amount of time to put the reports together.
My point in writing is to tell you that I know you are a DL vet and have very strong feelings towards the DLR, and in the past I felt your posts were very pro DLR. But recently I saw a dramatic change in your responses to DLR vs WDW posts. You have actually become the "voice of reason" in some of the discussions of late. You are very neutral and try to point out the differences in what DL and WDW vets look for in a Disney park. I, for one, needed that "kick in the pants" to understand why DL vets feel so strongly toward DLR. I truly loved DL park, but I really missed the whole resort atmosphere and the multitude of vacation options. I never understood that DLR vets grew up with DL and have such strong sentimental attachments to it, and that to them it is more of a one-day or weekend trip rather than a full-fledged vacation experience. And, to DLR vets, it is mostly about the parks. The number of local DLR annual passers just blew me away!
You are right that DLR and WDW are both wonderful places.....but what sets one apart from the other is the fact that each individual family has different expectations of the definition of a "Disney Experience." I understand that now.
