Meredith Vieira to replace Katie Couric on Today show

Meridith, her family and friends,there were probably 15 or so of them total, sat across from us in Teppanyaki two New Year's Eve's ago. She was very bossy to her kids, telling them where to sit, what to order, etc. She didn't sit with them however, she sat with her adult friends at an adjacent table. It was very interesting to watch. She was sort of a control freak and a little ADD'ish. She was very hyper.

We didn't know anyone at our table but we were sitting with two other families that were great company and all we did was comment back and forth to each other about what she was doing, etc etc etc. In a way I felt bad, everyone was noticing her. However, in another way I didn't feel bad for her at all because she kept on yelling BEN, BEN, BEN.... From her table over to her sons. I just felt she brought a lot of attention to herself that wasn't necessarily warranted.

That said, since I don't watch TODAY and I don't watch the CBS Evening news, I basically won't see Katie or Meri ever again....

I must say, I actually enjoy watching Meredith on the "View", she is actually the only reason why I still watch that show. Although I have always liked and respected Ann Curry, I think that they were looking for someone spunky like Katie, with more of an edge, to get Matt crazy. Who knows.

Well, I personally am a GMA viewer....so it won't matter much to me.
I like Meredith....and I like Ann too.

I think Ann's mouth is too big. heee but I like her!! don't get me wrong!

Honestly, I spent all last summer with one of her neighbors and she didn't describe her like that at all. who knows.
I know if we all go out with a lot of kids and they sit at a separate table, I tell my kids where they are going to sit to avoid problems

I certainly won't be watching if she takes over! I can handle her briefly & that's it - she's WAY too opinionated & argumentative - can't wait to hear her & Matt have at it....
Just think they're making a STUPID decision if that's the way they go....

I certainly think if I was ANN I'd be looking elsewhere for when my contract ran out - I"d be furious! (maybe she could follow KAtie)---I also think Natalie Morales does a fine job---OR leave Matt alone & see if his cocky self can handle it...I'm sure that's what he wants...

I'm a bit surprised that Katie would take on a night time role like this now that her kids are older (almost teenagers) you'd think this would be the time to have an early a.m. job since they're in school & she could be home with them in the evenings - I don't see how she'll ever see them again....so sad to me...

Solidad is on CNN morning!~ I LOVE her and the show. Granted I only catch 20 minutes before I gotta leave for work at 7am, but I LOVE her. She is on CNN the two hours (or however long) before 7am. Then once it is 7am, another CNN format begins.

I really think Solodad would have been great as a morning person. I liked her way more then Katie. I miss her on the weekends. And I just loved David Bloom too. They were both great. Maybe there is a chance that Solodad would return to NBC. Does anyone know if she left on good terms?

I don't watch the Today show normally--too early for me..but I didn't like Katie at all. Besides her personality I've never understood why someone who has a makeup artist has eyelashes that look like spider legs. It distracted me.

I like Meredith, she seems very nice and down to earth whenever I've caught her on The View. I've never watched her on Millionaire.

I like Meredith Viera and think she fits better in that role than Ann Curry or Campbell Brown do. IMO, they just don't have that "spark" - but that's just me. Actually, Ann Curry kind of annoys me and I don't know why??? I remember watching Meredith when she did 60 Minutes on CBS and liked her back then. I also think Soledad O'Brien would have been a great replacement, even better than Meredith.

It's funny how everyone has a different opinion on Katie's replacement. I like Ann Curry, Meredith Vieira or Natalie Morales. I absolutely can't stand Campbell Brown. She always looks like she is either angry or irritated at something. Around my house we think that she is so skinny that maybe she is being unpleasant because she is just hungry. When she comes on the screen I want to tell her to go eat a hamburger and get over it.

Too funny! I agree. Campbell always looks like she's P.O.'d about something and she's forcing herself to smile.

I must admit that I'm a Joy (from the view) fan. I think she is so funny. I know it would never happen, but imagine her as host of the Today show. You have to picture the face she makes when she is mad and wonder how that would go over first this in the AM.

I loved David and Solodad. Campbell and Lester are not worth watching compared to David and Solodad and I do not watch the weekend Today anymore. I do not like Natalie either, she is just to giggly and not a good ad libber. I do like the other one that was on sometimes, but I can not remember her name.
