Memory maker--Why??

I always get MM and find it a good value, mainly for the extra touches you get like ride photos & videos, and being able to have the whole family in the picture. HOWEVER, I personally would not rely on the photopass photographers as my only source of pictures. The majority (95%) of the pictures were good, but there are some that are poorly centered, blurry, and poorly lit. Just keep that in mind when deciding to purchase.

The biggest value for us was for Jedi Training Academy and Enchanted Tales with Belle pictures. Tons of great photos. That plus the ride photos are a lot of fun. Make sure to as the CM where the picture is taken/side, so you can cheese it up.

For us, it encouraged us to take more photos (hey, we paid for it, let's stop and take a picture). If it was just me taking pictures, I probably wouldn't stop the fun as much to capture it. We are not huge character people, but it is way more fun to interact/watch interactions vs. getting the shot. The boys had fun with the magic shots.

All of the photos taken have been in focus/lighting good. The only issue we have had are missing ride photos....so we take a picture of the photo number each time. This saved us for our last trip to DL. Even a better deal at $75.

We still use a camera for candids, but take the time and maximize our pics with MM. If you go with a larger group, splitting it works great. We did thsi with my sister one trip, inlaws the other.

We got MM for our first Disney trip with our kids back in October. It's great since photographers are all over the park so they really capture your trip. They also include cute magic shots and pictures on some of the rides. As others have said, it's a chance to get all your family in pictures (whereas normally one member is taking the picture). We also got pictures at Bibbity Bobbity Boutique, BOG, Chef Mickeys (entrance only), Jedi Training, character meets and at MNSSHP. (However bring your own camera for restaurant character meals as they photographers are not there during the meal when the characters come around). We had 300 pictures and it meant that we didn't have to carry a camera around (cell phone for those other moments).
I downloaded all the pictures and turned it into a lovely photo book.
I was so happy we got it. Having said that, if we return in a couple years, we won't purchase it again as it's pricey...but totally worth it for our first trip.

I always thought this was a waste but I got it last time and the video on the Mine Train, the ride pictures and everything else has changed my mind. I won't go back without it.
