Memory Maker Question

My dad purchased memory maker well in advance of our trip. Some of our party were not in his friends list in the app so we just added them, but their photos aren’t popping up in our gallery. Is this just me being impatient or do you need to already be connected for photos to show up?

Could this be an issue with their photo sharing settings? I can see the photos in my app/account but we were already connected prior to this trip.

Did they add you guys to their family and friends and select share plans?
Think it has to work both ways but I may be wrong
