Memory Maker: on-ride photos/videos with a party of 11 and 3 hotel reservations?

We've used PhotoPass in the past and I've even organised a couple of pass shares, so I know the old system pretty well, but using Memory Maker is new for me.

We're travelling as a group of 11 people in total, four in my room and then two other WDW-newbie families, each of which have their own Disney room reservations that are linked to ours. We all want to use a Memory Maker account during the trip. We're all linked together as friends who can make plans for each other via MDE (some of us set as family groups, some set as friends) and we have all selected the "can view each others photos" option.

We intend to set up one Memory Maker account, and then all add our own separate photos to it. Is this process automatic with anyone's Magic Band being usable anywhere (as we won't all be doing the same parks together all the time) or do we need to do anything special to allow all of our bands to add photos to the one Memory Maker account?

Also, I'm finding mixed reports about how on-ride photos and videos work. The Disney site seems to say that only the actual holder of the Memory Maker account can do these, not even their immediate family members who might go on another ride by themselves for example. However various other sites say this isn't true, and that it's possible for friends and family to add on-ride pics/videos to the account. If so, how do we do this?

Any other tips and tricks that people have found when using the new system for larger parties?

Andre

As long as all the people are link to the mde the mm was purchase all the photos should appear in that account, including ride photos. It sounds like you got the permission part set up right.

From my trip using Memory Maker in October 2014, I definitely received on-ride videos for Seven Dwarfs Mine Train and Tower of Terror for both occasions where I was on the rides, and occasions where I was not on the rides.

The videos seem to behave just like the on-ride photos, any guest that allows you to view their pictures will have their videos show up in your PhotoPass account to download with your Memory Maker entitlement.

My group was almost exactly like yours. You will get still photos from everywhere, even when you're not together and anyones band in the group can be scanned by the photographer to capture it in your account. Everyone will be able to view the photos in their photopass through MDE. The two "catches" you need to be aware of:

1) Only the MDE owner will see the ride photos through their login. It will capture everyone in your group who rides, even if you're not there, but when your friends log in through their own info, they will only see photographer shots, not the ride ones.

2) at the end, only the edits made in the MM owner's account will be downloadable for free (well, included for the price you already paid!) If anyone else uses their login to edit photos, you will not see those edits in your login and only the owner can download free - if your friends try to download, they'll be asked to pay. You then have to do edits and download to a thumb drive or CD for them or else let then use your login for the purposes of editing and downloading themselves.

Is it possible for each individual to get a photopass card when they have pictures taken, then give the MM owner all the cards, input the photopass card numbers, and have access to all the photos?

Other tips - if you do anything like pirates league, enchanted tales or jedi training where a photographer shoots tons of pictures of all participants, yo'll receive a photopass card with a code on it to link you to all the event pictures. Although you *can* enter that code in the web site to upload all the photos yourself, I highly recommend you instead take that card to a photopass store (near all park entrances and in DTD) because they can quickly and easily help you select only your party's pictures instead of all the strangers' shots also. If you upload them yourself, you get ALL the pictures and it's really slow and cumbersome to scroll past them in the site or to deleted hem one at a time from your account.

Encourage your whole group to stop often at photographers, ask for "magic shots" and you'll really get tons of use out of your MM - it's so great for groups!

Yes - I suppose yo'd do this if you didn't have magic bands. You might also do this if, for whatever reason you don't want to be linked in MDE. If you do have bands, it is just easier to have the photog scan that instead of carrying the card.

Thanks for the reply! We are a large group of almost 40, don't really want the hassle of making everyone create accounts and making sure we are all linked, etc.... I like the simplicity of typing the photo pass card number in and bam, done...

That will get you the still photos taken by a photographer. I don't know what you'll have to do to get ride photos. Most rides with photos have a preview area at the end with a CM you could ask about getting them into the right account. I know the 7 dwarfs ride is an exception where there is no preview area - you only get pictures there through a linked magic band.
