Memories that will live on forever! Oct. 17-24, 2010-UPDATED 10/7/11 and New TR Link

Such an enjoyable day just the two of you. I am shocked that we didn't run into each other that day. Looking at your pictures from the opening celebration we had to have been close (we were close to the middle on the left side):confused3. We headed to Dumbo first, but had to make a stop first. After that it seems that we went opposite ways though. Now I know how important it is to head to the fairies early, we decided against waiting in the line this trip- I would have waited for them for 10 minutes though.:)

Thats to funny that Ava told Mickey that Donald messed up his kitchen! I love the picture of her with Goofy. I didn't even know he was there and dressed like a pirate. I love Jungle Cruise too. I like to go on once in the day and once at night its like two different rides. Can't wait to see what you to are up to next.

What a great update! Love all of the Toontown pictures. I'm sure going to miss it. Also love the picture of Goofy handing Ava the pen. She is having so much fun!

My niece absolutely adores Minnie's house too, and would absolutely stay there all day if given the option!

Ava had so much fun at Minnie's house. I bet she watched the cake in the oven at least a dozen times!

Cute tea party picture. :lovestruc

Very cool to see Pirate Goofy!

Ava loves a good tea party!

Pirate Goofy was a fun find. He was on of my favorite characters that we met!

I love the picture with Ava laughing at Goofy!!!!

That is one of my favorite pictures of her!

We really did have a great day. I think the only time I saw you guys was when you were in the line for Dumbo when we were headed to Toontown.

I was glad that we were able to meet the fairies right away. This was one of Ava's top three things she wanted to do for the week, so there was no way to avoid it!

Great update! Looks like a fun time at the MK!!

It was such a relaxing day, but we were able to accomplish a lot!

The reaction to Donald messing with the kitchen was so cute. Mickey put his hand to his head and kept shaking his head no.

Ava and Goofy were really cute together. We ended up having a great time with him the next day as well.

I have never rode Jungle Cruise at night. I might have to try that in the future!

I took so many pictures in Toontown knowing that it was going away. I think that is pretty sad.:sad1:

Ava was having a blast. So was so much braver this year. It is amazing the difference a year made!

Ava and I decided it was time to make our way to Main Street to get a spot for the 3 o'clock parade. We stopped into The Confectionery for a snack and we were able to grab a great spot on the curb across the street in the shade. After a bit a CM came along making bubbles. Ava had a great time chasing them.

I had to grab a few pictures while we waited for the parade.

I couldn't believe how empty the curb was across the street. This was about 10 minutes to 3.

Soon the Main Street Philharmonic were making their way down the street.

Ava's bubble making friend was clearing the way for the parade.

The Grand Marshals of the parade were having a great time.

Disney2010265Small.jpg

Ava starts yelling, "The parade is coming, the parade is coming! Do you see it? It's coming!" She was so excited!

At this point a little boy next to us went bolting out into the street. He really wanted to see Gepetto! A CM grabbed him before his parents could even react and brought him back to the curb. Gepetto went over to greet his little fan and his family.

When the float with Alice was approaching, Ava started yelling, "Alice, hey Alice! I'm over here! Alice! Alice!" I was grateful that she heard her and gave her a wave.

I think it is neat how the sun made Cinderella's necklace sparkle.

Unfortunately this was the closest that we got to Ariel on this trip.

We had a great time at the parade and we loved our shady spot!

Up next: Time to keep some promises!

Great TR!! I just caught up! I LOVE the idea of the carriage necklaces for your girls! Where did you get that idea? Do they sell those at WDW?

Thanks! The kids just love their carriage necklaces. There is a thread on the Theme Parks forum dedicated to Pick a Pearl, so I saw them there. I have also come across them in a couple of trip reports. They don't sell the carriage at WDW, but you can order it on ebay. It is really inexpensive and it also comes on a chain. I put the carriages on different chains because the one that it comes with is pretty flimsy.

Following the parade we decided to jump on the Walt Disney World Railroad to get to Toontown. Once we arrived I asked Ava if she wanted to see what princesses were in and she said yes. I was really hoping that Cinderella would there, but it was just Belle and Aurora.

After meeting the princesses it was time to keep a promise from earlier. It was time to play at Donald's Boat. Ava had a blast playing in the water and cooling off. I bet she ran around for at least 30 minutes!

After Ava decided that she was done we decided to go back and check if Buzz was back out. He was out, so we hopped in line. This was probably the longest line that we waited in all week for a character. After about 25 minutes it was just about our turn. Ava looks at me and says that she just wants Buzz to sign her book. I didn't think anything of it, but when it was her turn she ran up to Buzz, dropped her book, and ran away! She was scared of him and she didn't want anything to do with him. He tried his hardest, but she was having none of it!

It was getting to be about five o'clock, so we check in with Stu and Erin to see what they were up to. They were just wrapping things up at IoA, so we decided that we would meet them at DTD for supper. Ava and I took the monorail to the Poly and then grabbed a bus to DTD from there. It took us about 40 minutes to get to DTD.

When we found Stu and Erin we decided to try Earl of Sandwich. This was an awesome decision! One of the girls had a turkey sandwich and the other had the grilled cheese. Stu ordered a Caribbean Jerk sandwich and I chose the Holiday Turkey sandwich. Stu and I typically swap meals half way through, but it was really hard for me to give up this sandwich! It was SO good!

We decided it was best to call it a day. On the way to the car we passed these really neat window displays. I'm sorry the quality of these pictures are so poor, but the dresses were so cool.

It looks like you and Ava had an awesome day! I'd love to have a day with just me and River there. Thats funny that she just went and put her book down in front of Buzz and ran away.

Oh man, Earl of Sandwich really is the best! I'm getting hungry just thinking about it right now.....

My nephew got nervous around Buzz too. I think that it's just how big he is and how he looks. Sounds like you guys had a great day together.

I'm with you on that sandwich. So good.

Playing in the water jets - a nice simple thing in the midst of all the excitement, and such fun! :)

I love her expression in the last picture.
'I was allowed to get wet in my clothes!'

Hi Heidi! I am really enjoying your TR!! Your daughters are adorable! I absolutely LOVE the carriage necklaces! What a special gift for the two of them! Did you ever get back to meet Rapunzel and Flynn?? My daughter is 2.5 and we took her to see Tangled and she fell in love with the characters! I hope they keep them around, we are hoping to get back to WDW in October of 2012 so it's nice to hear what it's like during this time!! I can't wait to read more, it looks like you and Ava had a special time at MK!! I LOVE all of Erin's pictures too!!

We had such a great time. We weren't in a rush to do anything, but we got to see everything that she wanted to. I would highly recommend having a day alone with River if you ever have a chance.

She was so funny about Buzz. It was her idea to see him, but when she got closer she realized how big he was and got scared!

That was our first time at Earl of Sandwich and it was fantastic! I have thought of my Holiday Sandwich at least weekly since we have been back.

Buzz was trying so hard to win Ava over! It ended up being a very memorable meeting.

The water jets were one of the biggest highlights of her day. You read her expression perfectly! She really thought she was getting away with something by getting her dress wet.

Thanks for reading Beth! Thank you for all of the kind comments.

Unfortunately we did not find Rapunzel. Thankfully I didn't tell Erin there would even be a possibility. I was bummed that they had moved back the opening date at MK for the meet and greet. She would have loved it.

October is a great time to go! This was our second time there in October and you couldn't ask for better weather. I thought the crowds were a little larger this year, but definitely easy to manage.

Those are cute pictures of Ava playing in the water.
Too bad she was scared of Buzz after standing in the long line.:)
The window pictures look so cool with the dolls as the dresses!

Ava had such a good time playing. It is nice to have a spot to let the kids just run and play.

As she got closer she realized just how big that Buzz was. I thought that it was funny that she still wanted to make sure that he signed her book!

I thought that the dresses were so neat. Erin was really taken with them.
