Just wondering if Memorial Day weekend was one of those times when flights book up quickly....the rates right now don't look too bad considering what others have paid from ABE to MCO for direct flights. Will I end up having to pay higher rates or take non-direct flights if I don't book early?

Thanks,

what is a non-direct flight? never heard that one before. they have non-stop, direct(which means makes one or more stops along the way but no change of planes is involved) and then connecting.

Memorial weekend books but not as heavily as some of the other holidays. are you looking to book for next year already? if so then please be aware that you will go thru 4 major schedule changes in that time frame of waiting for your flight. and in that time your flight can and will change close to a hundred times. it may even get switched to a connecting flight and then back to a non stop one if this is what you had. and then you would be finished with changes on the april change and if you do not like what they put you on you can have them change it back to whatever was closest to the original flight that you had. (at no charge either)

LOL.....I wasn't using airline terminology, I just meant a flight that wasn't direct, or non-stop. I guess I should have said "connecting". With a 2yo and a 7yo I'm not going to want to deal with connections, plus it's going to be a short trip so I don't want to waste the time.

So would I be better off waiting until April to book? Or would that put me at risk of not getting seats? Or having to pay a whole lot? My goal is to book whenever I have to to make sure I get a decent rate, a direct or preferrably non-stop flight and most of all...seats!

Interesting information about the schedule changes. If I do book I'll be sure to keep that in mind and not freak out. So I guess with airlines there's no way to be guaranteed you'll get what you want? Geesh, no wonder there are folks like us who prefer to drive :D or maybe we're just control freaks  :) But you're saying that in the end they'll do their best to get us on the flight most like the one we originally booked? I guess I can deal with that. Any particular reason airlines do this, besides trying to make customers worry?

Are the questions I'm asking akin to asking when interest rates will be going up? Sorry, I don't really know *anything* about all this, which is why I ask!
