Memorial Day Crowds thin after holiday?

My husband and I have our anniversary at the end of May. It usually coincides with Memorial Day. Disney is very special to us - we met at WDW, got engaged there, and then were married on Disney's Castaway Cay. We have never, however, been to DL together. (We both went years ago as kids with our individual families.) We are thinking of going next May (2009) to celebrate at a most magical place, but our anniversary is the Wed after Memorial Day. We'd like to use the Monday as part of our vacation (a day you DON'T have to ask off work). I know crowds would be bad that weekend and Monday. Do crowds usually thin out that Tuesday and beyond or do they stay busy? Thanks - we are really looking forward to planning our trip!

I will tell you after our trip. :) DS b'day is the 26th, and since I'm tired of spending mucho bucks on party supplies then having no one come, so we're getting away from now on and DLR is the first trip. :goodvibes

This will be my first holiday at DLR, and I'm getting a little scared, but I'll know more in just over a month.

Thanks! I'll be anxious to hear how everything goes. Tell your son Happy Birthday - and enjoy your trip!

We will be there on Memorial Day and I am a little worried aobut crowds. Right now we are considering driving to SeaWorld on Memorial Day instead and the doing DL the next 3 days.:confused3

As a local, I just wanted to pipe in that a lot of people go to the beach for Memorial Day. I'm sure it will still be crowded, but maybe not as bad as you think...

After the actual holiday, I wouldn't expect it to be bad. That weekend, and the Monday yes. But after that people go back to school and work. Shouldn't be too bad at all.

We were there Monday-Friday (Memorial Day through the end of the week) in 2005 and it was wonderful. Nice and warm (hot actually) and the crowds weren't bad at all. The longest line we waited in was for Peter Pan (40 minutes) and by using Fast Pass we avoided any other long lines (it was REALLY hot actually and Splash Mountain was up to 90 minutes).

Crowded, but not bad at all. I expected a lot worse. We liked it so much we are planning our trip for the exact same time next year. (Well, Sunday-Thursday: I think we'll hit CA on Sunday).

We are headed out there that week as well! We are avoiding the park and the beach on Monday since we figured it would be crazy, so we are just going to shop and hang out. We'll be doing DL on Tues/Wed/Fri and the beach on Thurs! Here's hoping we don't have too bad of crowds! And keep a look out for our LGMH! I just picked them up from Home Depot this weekend! :)

We'll be flying into CA on Saturday before Memorial Day and spending parts of that week in DL. I'm hoping to be in the parks on Sunday, since the fireworks and Fantasmic aren't shown during the week until mid June. I'll definitely post when we get back. I plan to do SeaWorld and Legoland, too, but I'm hoping for low crowds there mid week. Nice to hear it won't be as bad as I was expecting.

Before we moved to Arizona, we spent the last 3 Memorial Day weeks at DL. The crowds are heavy on the weekend, but I don't think it is worse than other weekends we have gone since moving to Arizona. The week before and week after were great. We didn't have any troubles getting to do everything we wanted to do. If you use the FP's wisely during the weekend it shouldn't be any trouble. Also since you'll be spending more than the weekend there, you could use the weekend to do some extra relaxing, maybe some time at the pool etc.

Have a great time and Happy Anniversary!

oohh.. last year the bf and i went to seaworld during memorial weekend... 2 hours waiting in line for tickets!! :scared:

i would suggest either getting tickets before hand or avoiding seaworld. inside the park, it wasn't so bad, but it was a clusteryouknowwhat trying to get off the exit to seaworld and to get tickets! good luck!

We are also going to be at DL from the 25th - 31st, I totally forgot about the holiday, Monday is going to be the first day there and Tuesday is DD's b'day (turning 4). I'm really hoping it isn't going to be crazy busy there the rest of the week, I thought I was going during a slow time. :confused3

Not good news!:scared1: We are taking advantage of THe Hero Salute so I think we will have to wait in line to get our actual tickets:scared1:

Gotta get those tickets online, even if it's just 5 minutes before you leave your house. Pop the info into the stand-alone kiosks, ticket pops out, there ya go. :goodvibes

Man, I hope that will work for me. Not sure for the Hero Salute tickets though.:confused3
