I have seen people talk about this before but can't remember if ihere was a specific thread on it. . .I searched . . .and browsed. . . anyhow. I made my final payment for my new DVC membership four weeks ago tomorrow, when should I get my permanent membership card and should I call my guide or MS if I should have received them by now?

Well, we became members in December and all the paperwork arrived in January.....but we received our card just this week. Before you become alarmed, let me say that our situation is definitely not the norm. We live in New Orleans and the mail situation following Katrina has been nothing short of a nightmare. First, no mail....stuck in limbo somewhere....we were never sure exactly where. Finally, it started arriving but after being diverted to who knows how many additional stops, sometimes weeks late. Then around January, just when things seemed to be getting back to some kind of normal (or what we refer to as the New Normal), some computer glitch at the post office starts notifying everyone we deal with that our address has changed to the address we had evacuated to. Every time we would contact them and give them our correct address, the computer would come behind us and change it again. The post office swore they couldn't control it...that they were set up to handle 60,000 changes of addresses, not 600,000. :confused3 We never received our permanent cards and I figured like so many other things, they were lost in limbo somewhere. Not wanting replacement cards to wind up in the same disappearing act, I wanted to wait to call MS until I was reasonably sure of actually expecting the cards to arrive at my home. :) The day arrived. I called MS. The cards weren't lost. They had never been ordered! Ordered? Somebody has to order them? Learn something new every day. So, he ordered them. Cut to this week. Only ONE card arrived in the mail, my husband's. I'm going to give it a few more days to see if mine comes in. If not, I'll be back on the phone with MS.

Bottom line is, don't wait too long. It doesn't hurt to call. You may hear the line that your cards weren't ordered either. ;)

We got ours about a week after our Deed was recorded. (closing date) If closing date has passed, I would give your guide a call.

Our Guide called us a day or so after the closing to say congratulationsand tell us our cards should be there soon...
