Megan's birthday today

Here in the last few minutes before the rush begins I have been reflecting on the last 11 years and what was going on about this time 11 years ago. A few hours after Megan was born the doctor noticed something a little strange so she moved her to the NICU where she stayed for the first month of her life. AFter about 3 weeks the figured out that she didn't have about 99% of things known so they went to the more unusual and discovered that she had NKH. By this time she was on a vent. We made the decision to turn it off and let nature take its course. We were told that she probably would not see her 1st birthday. Now flash foward to today and we are celebrating her 11th. It hasn't been without difficulty but now I don't know what our life would have been like without her.

Thanks for letting a mother reflect this morning.

I took the time to find out about NKH because of your post. What an incredible life you two have lived! I know you have totally appreciated every minute with your baby and always will. Only when we go through this do we realize how very precious life is.

Thanks for the nice Birthday greetings. The party is over, the kitchen is cleaned and everything is put away. DH and Megan are both sound asleep. We really had a good day. WE had a luau party for family and a few close friends. I think it is now time for my nap.
