Meeko's Walt Disney World Trip 2002
After a morning at the Magic Kingdom, I took the monorail to the bus to MGM. There's the continuation of my Day two report.
Friday (Part 2)
It was about 12:30 pm when I got to MGM and while it was still raining, it seemed to have started to let up. It was around time for lunch, so it was over to the ABC Commisary. After Lunch, the rain appeared to have stopped so it was across the Courtyard passed the Hat (still not too fond of it yet, guess I just liked the Chinese Theater better) over to Voyage of the Little Mermaid to get FastPass. The Fastpass time wasn't quite long enough to do any of the neerby attractions, so I took some time to look around and check out the shops.
There were a ton of characters around the Hat, even a few fairly rare ones like Mulan and Hercules. The best was Dopey who was very playful, came right up to me and posed for a picture. It's always nice when the characters come to you insteed of the other way around.
After looking in a few of the shops on Hollywood Boulevard, it was back to the Little Mermaid to see the show. It was great, but some of the laser effects are starting to look dated. It could probably use a rehab soon. Next it was over to the Animation Tour. Heavy emphesis on Lilo and Stitch this year since it was made there. They're also working on a few new films "Treasure Plannet" which comes out this Christmas, and also "Home on the Range" (looks like it's all about cows) and "Bears".
Next, it was over to One Man's Dream. The exhibits are great. Skipped the movie though, and spent more time looking at the exhibits. Next it was up Mickey Avenue for a quick peek into the AFI Showcase.
New York Street was next and was flooded with characters (seems like I havn't turned around today without seeing a character). The Beast was there, as were Kermit and Piggy. The Sherrif of Nottingham from "Robin Hood" and Dale were there too and even got in a fight over who was going to sign an autograph book next. You never know what some of these characters will do.
Looked a little around the New York Street (note the Stitch on the Empire State Building in the picture above) before heading on to Star Tours. The line was short enough FastPass really wasn't necissary. After the ride, it was getting close to parade time, so I got something to drink and found a spot neer the front of the route.
The parade was great, tons of characters and the cars were cute. I loved the old Hollywood motorcade theme. Next, it wass getting close to dinner and tonight dinner would be at the Sci-Fi Dine In Theater. The theming is great, the food ok, but my only complaint is they need some lights in the cars so you can see the food (well, that and the don't give you free popcorn anymore). Other than that, it was great.
Next it was over to Sunset Boulevard to see some of the shops. Ran into some Streetmosphere performers and watched some of their show for a while. I'd planned on doing Tower of Terror next, but I was tired and was affaraid if I got on the ride it would wake me up too much and I'd never get to sleep.
Headed back up Sunset and Hollywood, peeking into some of the shops along the way. On my way out, I noticed this giant Stitch that I must have missed on the way in because of how hard it was raining. You could definatly tell the Studios was proud of him. He was on just about everything they could have put him on throughout the park (on windows, signs, popcorn buckets, ect.). After that, it was back to the Lodge for a dip in the hot tub. Tommorow, it would be on to the Animal Kingdom.
