Mears vs. Towncar service

Okay....yes I know how wonderful the towncar services are. We use them usually. In fact we are all booked with Fl Tours for our trip in Nov. But....just my dd, 11, and I are planning on going to WDW in mid-June. Speed isn't of the essence this trip. And it looks like Mears shuttle is about 1/2 the price of a towncar. So, besides the fact that it may take an hour, opposed to 1/2 hr., to get to BWV, is there any reason to pass over Mears? We did use them for our first trip to WDW in '99, before we knew any better. But, we were taken right to our resort since all of us in the van were going to POR (DxL!!). I don't mind being crammed in like a sardine but at the time my mother had just had some surgery, so it wasn't pleasent for her. That won't be an issue this time since it's just my dd and myself. Any thoughts?

Here's a Mears story :scared1:

I think, based on the story at the thread above, that no one should EVER consider using Mears again. Yes, they are cheap, and yes, usually things referenced in that story don't happen often, but the fact that they do happen at all is just appalling. I would stick with the towncar and enjoy it, the added price will be worth peace of mind, in my book. ::yes:: ::yes:: ::yes::

Darn, I had forgotten that thread!!! Yep, you're right. Looks like we'll be taking the towncar. No way will I want to worry about whether or not Mears will be showing up to get me back to the airport!!! Thanks for the reminder!!!

As I said in a previous post:
We all spend plenty to have a great vacation at WDW. Why go through the crazinness of Mears just to save a few dollars?
It is NOT worth it at any price.
Take a towncar and get your vacation off to a great start.

Generally speaking I would only take Mears as an adult traveling alone with lots of patience. I almost missed a flight despite a pick up 4 hours early last time we took Mears - it was bad.

For me even with a party of two and especially when I am traveling with my dd's the grocery stop alone is worth the extra money. It may not make up the entire cost difference but the ease and convenience not only of the town car but to have some snacks, breakfast and drinks in the room is worth it to me.

I agree. I just cancelled ours Mears ressie today. It will be just two of us, so I thought I would save some $. The more I thought about it and our horrible Mears experience last year, the more convinced I was I need to cancel Mears from airport to resort for Nov.

I envisioned us driving through heavy Thanksgiving weekend traffic in a Mears van and that pretty much did it for me.
Mears = tears, then you need a few beers, so forget it!

We've been using Tiffany Towncar with excellent results. However, I traveled alone in August to meet the rest of my clan who were already at OKW. I used Mears because it seemed - in my opinion - a little silly to use the towncar just for myself. It was not my best experience (we've used Mears several times in the past, so I knew what to expect), but it was not my worst, either. The computers broke down, but since I was next in line, my transaction was handled pretty easily - cash helps! In situations like mine, I'd use Mears again....reluctantly, but it just made the most sense for me. However, as a group we are towncar fans all the way!
