For our Sept. trip to WDW, we want to go to Universal Studios a couple of days while we are there. We decided to just stay on Disney property and take a shuttle to and from Universal, and then we can break it up and not have to do two or three days in a row. My question is, I have seen that you can take a Mears shuttle to Universal for $16 per person round trip. Do they run on a schedule?:confused3 Or can we tell them when we want to go and return?

Has anyone done this?

Thanks for your help.

they have schedules, but they run on an hourly basis. so you call with 24 hours notice and tell them when you want to be picked up. then call them with at least 2 hours notice to arrange for a time to go back.

I had a similar question about Mears for a day trip to Sea World. Someone told me about LYNX, the local bus system that picks up at the transportation hub at MK. It turns out they have quite the bus sytem and the fare is so low its nuts, I recall my chid like .75 and us 1.75 each (or something very close) each way.
I think the site was lynx.com. The schedule was every 30 minutes or so. Perhaps thats an option for you? Take a look perhaps they also do Universal??? I called and they were VERY kind andhelpful too!
Good Luck!

the website is actually http://www.golynx.com and while you can get to universal through lynx, it requires a transfer and can be terribly inconvenient.

compared to most cities, orlando's public transit system actually leaves a lot to be desired and really only exists to fulfill the needs of a certain economy.

i would not recommend lynx for universal from disney as i would for sea world.

We used Mears from POR and Universal and back again, 2 different days. You schedule the day before for your pick-up time from hotel. Then you can schedule your return time also. The 2nd day, however, they let us just call when we were ready to go back, since we didn't know how long we wanted to stay.

Can you also call 24 hours prior for pick-up with luggage and transfer to Hard Rock Hotel? We would only need a one-way. Does this run about $15 for adults?

no, that's different. you CAN arrange for transportation to another hotel, but i don't know what it'll cost. but it's not the same as going to an amusement park (and they won't let you take luggage with you, so you can't arrange to go to Universal and go to HRH instead)
