Mears car vs. taxi with grocery stop

As of right now, it looks like it might be cheaper (and more convenient) for us to hire Mears or to take a taxi to take the five of us to Universal from Disney (and then back to Disney from Universal) than to rent a car when we factor in gas and parking fees at the resort. Mears is running a 10% off special if you book with them in March, which would make the hire of the private car $53 one way (plus a tip). I know that the taxi could be potentially cheaper, but also could be potentially more expensive depending on traffic…

I have a couple of questions:

Would a private Mears car allow for a quick (15 min) grocery stop?

Does Mears allow for any flexibility with the pick up/drop off times? For example, right now, I could say that my family would like to head back to Disney from Universal at 11 in the morning, but if they're loving or hating Universal, I'd like to have some flex with that time. The taxi, in that case, is a more appealing choice since we could just decide at a moment's notice when we wanted to head from one place to the next.

If we did hire a taxi, is it possible to pre-arrange a rate with them? Has anyone had any success with that? And how much $$$ do you think a quick stop at the grocery store would cost with a taxi? If we opt to do the taxi, I might just use a grocery service instead…

With Mears no the time you book is the time they will be there. They have many other scheduled pick ups to take care of. It call them they may be able to tell you if someone could be there in a few hours to get you.

With a cab you are charge by the minute and mile. Cab drivers don't usually deviate from that practice.
