Meal delivery services

We are a family of 3 as well and tried GoodFood just before Christmas. Due to my own ineptitude the order got screwed up. I wanted 3 menus of two servings each and ended up with 5 menus of 4 servings each. We found the quantities to be awkward and it would have been easier to stretch 2 than end up wasting some of 4. We also chose mostly menus that had “no prep” options, meaning the produce and proteins came already cut and I think that detracted a bit from the quality of it.

Our initial goal had been to have nights where DH and/or DS did the cooking. We found the recipes to be quite straight-forward but the menus we chose did require some techniques that were a little challenging for their (very basic) skill levels. They did get through it and had a bit of fun but overall, it wasn’t a completely successful experience. Cost wise, our box was $240 for 5 meals which was expensive even with the introductory offer discounts but again, my own fault for ordering in error. I doubt we’ll try again.

Have you tried Hello Fresh or Chef's Plate? Chef's Plate definitely had much easier recipes so that might for for your household. I can send you a $40 for Hello Fresh if you would like, just pm me your email and I will send it along. I don't have any free box codes for HF but the discount will get you a 3 meal, 2 servings box for $40ish.

Thank you - that is such a kind offer. For us it was an interesting experiment but I don't expect we're going to try again. Those "pass it on" offers are great though and I'm sure you'll find someone who can really enjoy it. :goodvibes As for Chef's Plate, yes we looked at that service and those recipes would definitely be more achievable for my guys to actually cook. But being the spoiled brats that they are, they prefer to eat the fancier stuff. ;)

I just edited my original post. It was Marley Spoon that was terrible at summer shipping. The food/recipes were fine, as long as ambient temperatures didn't go much above 80.
