Meagan and Matt ~ Disney Swan/Ohana, 5/18/2010

So I'm a bit bored waiting for my 12-month marker. DF and I are wondering if we should do May 2010 now instead of August. We're so indecisive! I don't see why not! We'll have to wait. But, as it is, I felt compelled to list all that we have decided on. Consider this a nice little organizer from me to whom so ever decides to read it!

Wedding Details:
Date:May or August 2010
Location:Sea Breeze Point
Time:10:00 am we hope
Guest Count:18 (unless a 1 yr. old and a 2 yr. old can be removed from that headcount)
Color Scheme:Green, Pink, Orange, and Red... think Tropical!
Theme:Pixie Paradise (I love Tinkerbell and Hawaiian themed things such as palm trees)
"Reception" Lunch:Captain's Grille (though unsure. Thoughts?)

I will be sure to let you know on that date ordeal. I love my DF so much for wanting to make this sooner rather than later.

On a happier note, I've been giving considerations to my save-the-dates. DF and I were always tentative about the date, but we're now considering bumping it up to August. The problem is that should I start school, we wouldn't have time for a reception before I was in full-time class mode. :sad2: So it looks like I'm changing the counter AND the title of this thread. How do you even DO that one? Haha! The new date is August 26th, 2010
As for the save-the-dates, how early does one send those out? I need ideas here so I'm not such a clueless bride-to-be.

I think that's a great date!! (It is my birthday after all!) Of course, I was married in May (10th) and loved that time too! Only problem is it's always around Mothers' day. This year it is the same day!
I'm really enjoying reading all your reports. How do you do it all and school too? I'm impressed.

:surfweb: planning, TRing, school, and work? Umm.. late nights and a bit of suffering on my body's part.. which brings me to my new..

Mini-Update
So yours truly had to go to the doctor today for a sore throat that has lasted a week. I thought strep perhaps? Oh no.. even worse. :headache: mono

Looks like I'll be trying to slow things down a bit.. or so my DF hopes. We'll see how it goes.

:goodvibes Hope you feel better soon! I had mono years back and the only thing I could do is sleep!

it's not as terrible because it's a relapse. I had it a year ago and my body is fighting off another infection so mono decided to reactivate and double my pleasure. I actually have a rare strep infection in one of my salivary glands. It sounds painful and it is! :confused3 I didn't even know those glands could get infected, but then I'm no doctor.

We'll just hope it all clears up soon so I don't have to feel icky anymore!

Hello fellow DISers. I am happily healthy once more and very excited for my david's bridal appt this Saturday! My mom is, unfortunately sick with a flu-type bug [which is why I say she should do like me and get a flu shot!!] but she's still hoping for the best. I'll be sure to pack my camera and hopefully have lots of pics for you disney brides and disney brides-to-be. :cool1:

Here's hoping that I find the one... even though it's over a year till my wedding! :rotfl:

Well, did you get to David's Bridal?? Come on, we're waiting for details!! My DD's got their flower girl dresses there for a wedding to be in June and it was so fun to be in there with all the brides!
Hoping you are getting better and your mom too!

Well I did make it to David's Bridal but I forgot my camera. :sad2: I'm like, the worst dis-bride ever. However, I didn't find the dress so, no worries. I will be setting another appointment soon with a camera this time ;)

I tried on a multitude of dresses at DB and really wasn't feeling it. I love the lace designs but they're so heavy for my small frame. I did find one dress that I really felt I could see myself being married in, but I wasn't 100% certain so I didn't buy. I'm making another appointment soon so that I can finally find THE one.

However, just to pacify my fellow DISers, here's the DB photo of the dress that may just be the one...

It's a Galina style and is very lightweight. I think it would be perfect for a Florida wedding except my pale Minnesotan skin would need a serious tan! :rotfl:

I will be trying it on WITH PICTURES when I return to get all of your opinions.

 No surprise I have updated our date again, however this time is FINAL! I began working on save-the-date magnets and our newsletter in hopes of sending those out soon. I will, of course, post them here when they're finished.
I have another david's bridal session set for May 29th, so hopefully this will make me select the BEST dress.

Calling DFTW tomorrow to pencil in our spot! :woohoo:

:lovestruc Thank you! The one year mark is exciting..

Got a called from my Disney consultant, Diane...

We can have 23 guests (plus the two of us bringing the count to 25) for an additional $500
Children under the age of 3 do not count towards your guest count

I should hear back in September to get the ball rolling :woohoo:

Just found your PJ....congrats!!!! I will be getting married one month before you...although mine is an Escape so it is not actually booked yet :goodvibes

Your ring in Fab!!!! Good luck with the planning!!:banana:

PS...I used to visit Duluth twice a year while growing up! I grew up on the Canadian side of Lake Superior, in Thunder Bay, so it was our big American shopping adventure!!

 Happy dance all around because I just bought my perfect wedding dress!!! I didn't take a picture of me in it, but here is a lovely DB model...

:scared1: The price was not pretty and by the end of it with my crimmy and shoes (etc). it was insane. But I'm a bride... I can get what I want! :lovestruc
I'm in love

I've been trying to nail down the time line for the wedding ceremony and would LOVE input from former Disney brides, as well as brides-to-be. Basically I'm wondering if my events are too early, too late, or not enough time in-between. Tell me what you think...

8:00am - Breakfast in the resort food court with my DF and whomever wishes to join in. DF will then leave to be with his groomsmen
9:30am - Hair, Makeup, Dress Steaming appointments for me and potentially my 2-3 bridesmaids (still unsure how many we'll have)
1:30pm - Pictures
2:30pm - Ceremony at Sea Breeze Point
--Travel back to the hotel then take Disney transport to....--
5:00pm - Dinner reception at 'Ohana

DF and I might opt to have a limo for longer to get us to the reception dinner since we wanna be in wedding attire. :cutie:
What do you all think?

Been some time since my last post and so much has changed!!

Where to start?

Well, we hit a few financial snags in our plan which made a Disney wedding go from a dream down to a nightmare! We thought about backing out and were sure we could never afford it. Then the most magical thing happened :wizard:
I contacted Just Marry! in regards to a Disney Swan Resort wedding because I had heard it was a cheaper option. We were very happy to hear that we could still have our Disney wedding for half the price! Now we are working on gathering the money for our deposit and should have it by the end of the month to book. We have finalized everything else and are still working towards booking our trip. However, everything is working out and coming together!!! :woohoo:

To give you an idea of where we are at, we are currently having a small ceremony at the Disney Swan Resort with a reception dinner at Ohanas to follow. Has anyone had their reception here? I'd love to hear more about it! We are also having Randy Chapman for photography, Rev. Jack Day to conduct the ceremony, hair and makeup by Beaute Special (no specific artist yet) and shipping/steaming by Carolynn Allen's. The tuxes are compliments of Men's Warehouse.

I feel like I have so much more yet to do!! We have just over 6 months and my checklist is so huge:
  • Mail out letters indicating the time and location change for the wedding
  • Send out invitations no later than December 31st
  • Have wedding gown alterations done
  • Get the bridesmaids gowns selected and purchased
  • Pick our and purchase our wedding bands
  • Get tuxes measured and rented from Men's Warehouse to be ready for delivery in Florida
  • Book with Beaute Special
  • Book with Carolynn Allens
  • Gather gifts for the bridesmaids
  • Book our vacation
  • Apply for our marriage license by mail

:scared1: I'm wondering if I will have enough time to do all of this?? I'd love the comfort of other brides here!!

Hi,

You sound like us, we were all set for a Disney wedding, then started looking at the Swan and Dolphin and emailed Just Marry. We were all set to book there but then i stumbled over a beautiful hotel called Celebration, and we have decided to have our wedding there. It turns out that Just Marry are also the planner for here too, and they have been great to work with so far.

The Swan and Dolphin package was very good though and i am sure you will have an amazing wedding there.

I'm so happy to see someone else couldn't afford DFTW crazy prices. Especially with the 2010 increase! Thanks for popping in

Small things put us off having a Disney wedding, cost was one of them and there seemed to be so many rules. I also really wanted to get our wedding booked asap, i didn't want to have to wait until 8 months out. x

Almost 6 months remaining! :cheer2:

I have an appointment to have my dress altered on Saturday as well as to have my bridesmaids try on their dresses. I'm very excited not only to put my gown on again, but also to check two more things off of my list!!

I aso was able to get our newsletters with update time and location of the wedding printed out. I will be mailing a few and hand delivering the rest of them over the Thanksgiving holiday. I still have yet to secure our date and time, but my wedding consultant at Just Marry! gave me confidence in gettinr our spot.
I feel like I have so little time to do everything, but then again I don't have as much to do as I would if this wedding was all on me! I'm glad Just Marry! is taking care of so much. I will need to book with Carolynn Allen's and Beaute Special as soon as possible! Still a little freaked out!
