I can't believe I'm starting this PJ. Not only because I'm astounded at a Disney wedding, but also because I'm still attempting to finish the TR from my last trip in Jan 2009!! :lmao:

As it is, my fiance and I have been engaged for almost a year now and we're totally psyched on planning our wedding. Originally my DF was not even interested in Disney, but the trip a few weeks ago has since changed his mind. And now I get a fairytale dream come true! But, as fellow romantics, I will relive the story of our engagement from last year...

The Proposal
My DF and I have been together for almost 4 years. We're college sweethearts, you could say! We decided to move in together for convenience last year and it worked out wonderfully. Last February I had come home from a very long day of work and class... a stressful one at that. :scared: My DF being the sweetheart that he was decided to put in one of my favorite Disney movies 'Beauty and the Beast' instead of making me watch him play video games as was the usual. Well this was a sweetheart move of him, but I never expected what came next.
As the movie ended I rolled over in bed to shut my eyes and sleep for another long day. DF took my hand and said, "Hey.. wake up." I groaned and looked up at him in a 'this better be good' mood. He sat up in bed and motioned for me to do the same and said, "I need to ask you something. Something important." He looked very nervous, which in turn made me nervous for I suspected it was something bad. He continued to hold my hand and then smiled, sensing my nervousness. "I've loved you for years and I can't imagine being without you. I'm sorry this isn't very romantic or special.. but.. will you marry me?" and he pulled out the ring. :goodvibes
It was a plain proposal, but that's how we are. I loved it. I couldn't take a great picture of it with my camera, so here is the website photo:

It's small but perfect for me! I'm a small person! Anyway, we traveled to WDW 3 weeks ago to celebrate our engagement (a year later) and it was the time of our lives. Obviously, since we wanna get married there now!! Ah yes, and here is the happy couple:

:cheer2: So now that you know a bit about the couple... we'll begin to plan the wedding! I'm totally clueless on wedding planning because I've only ever been in one.. my sister's.. I was the maid of honor. But you'll all help me right?! Please???

This should be a fun ride!

congrats and welcome looking forward to hearing more. there is alot of wonderful info here to help you along with your wedding planing. good luck:goodvibes

:welcome: going to read your TR now! Cute E-story, no one ever said a great proposal has to include a million roses, candelight an fancy dinner, I loved yours, very personal and heartfelt, and thats all that matters! Congrats!

Hello!

Can't wait to read all about your ideas and planning!

Don't forget, we love all the small details, and lots of pics!!

:flower3:

hello!! another 2010 bride here~!!

good luck with all your plans!

Lots of pictures and details? I think I can handle that one!

So I've been spending a lot of time browsing dresses online. I haven't scheduled an appointment to buy yet, but it never hurts to look. The issue right now is Graduate School and whether or not I will be attending once I get my bachelor's degree this summer. ;) Boy does that feel weird to say! I do find out about this in the coming months. Our date of 9/2/09 is expecting to attend graduate school, but it will change if that turns out to be false.

But enough about that.. let me share my dress ideas! princess:

The first one I found that I was absolutely in love with from the start was this one:

But after looking around a bit more, I found this other option:

I'm not sure which way to go! Haha, but I think I will find the right one when I try them on.

Aw yay you started one!! Congrats!

I love both dresses...they are gorgeous! :goodvibes

i like both of them dresses- when you try them on.. it will be different- you will know when it is THE dress!!

you will def know when you find "the" dress. I like them both but for some reason #2 is very interesting to me, I like the girly lacey bits! Both will look amazing though I'm sure, make sure you take pics for us nosy brides on here so we can oh and ah over them!

So my maid of honor is my lovely sister and my other bridesmaid is my cousin. We have decided to keep this a small affair so only a small wedding party. My dress colors are going to be a mint green color to incorporate a slight Tinkerbell aspect. :thumbsup2 I've looked into styles that would be nice for a Sept. wedding at the World. Here's the options I like:

That color is actually the one I want.. "Honeydew"

I also like this style:

And finally, this style as well:

Ah yes, and here is an idea of the color I want to use:

I'm still looking for hair ideas, so stay tuned!

haha too funny, I just got the top option for my BM's but in watermelon. It really doesnt look 1/2 as good online as it does in person, and right now it is on sale for $79!!!

The green will be great for a Tink theme/feel :goodvibes

Congrats and welcome! The ring is stunning and so personal with the inscription!

So I'm having a minor freak out that I'm not going to have enough time to get this all done! I'm sure that's normal though. I'm sure it will all sink in and panic mode will truly start once it's contract signing time! I'm still holding out until at least spring break (the middle of March) to book an appointment for trying on dresses. Right now I think I need to focus on graduating college! :thumbsup2 I'm still nervous about graduate school or career... which will come first?! But ah well, nothing to do but sit back and relax.

On a happier note, I've been giving considerations to my save-the-dates. DF and I were always tentative about the date, but we're now considering bumping it up to August. The problem is that should I start school, we wouldn't have time for a reception before I was in full-time class mode. :sad2: So it looks like I'm changing the counter AND the title of this thread. How do you even DO that one? Haha! The new date is August 26th, 2010
As for the save-the-dates, how early does one send those out? I need ideas here so I'm not such a clueless bride-to-be.

:goodvibes I've been spending all of my free time on school work and trying to get through my final semester as a college undergraduate! I haven't given much thought to the wedding in regards to planning, but let me assure you that I've been OBSESSING over it in my head. I'm hoping to get to David's Bridal over my spring break which is March 15th through the 22nd. How soon in advance do you need to make an appointment with them? And is it crazy to buy a wedding dress so soon??? :confused3

On another note I have still not decided on my save-the-dates. The thing that is kinda prohibiting any forward progression in this is a guest list. We understand that we can have a maximum of 18 guests but narrowing down the families is difficult. What did everyone do for their save the dates and when did you send them out? I feel like I should be doing more for my wedding, yet I'm not sure what to do!!

I've also been busy with my new obsession which is scrapbooking my recent Disney trip. Sadly I've been more focused on that than on updating the trip report. Ah well, somewhere someday that will be completed.

So I've decided to go to David's Bridal to try on wedding dresses over my spring break (March 15th-22nd) :cool1:

I'm still toying with the two ideas earlier posted, but the second one is really growing on me. My mother is going to be coming with me as is my sister who is also my maid of honor. I probably won't be doing the bridesmaid dresses until closer to the date.

Now I need to pose some questions to you ladies!!
1. How do you change the thread title? My date has changed!!
2. What did you do before the 12 month mark when you could call disney?? :confused3 I feel like I should be planning something but I have no idea what!!

If you're bored, check out my trip report! I will be updating it as much as possible tonight!!! popcorn::

Mini Update

Scheduled an appointment for David's Bridal on Saturday, March 21st. I'll be going with my mom and my sister. :cool1: Very exciting!!

Have to discuss with DF about the guest list but we have it pretty nailed down at this point:
My mom, dad, stepfather, stepmother, grandparents on mom's side, grandma on dad's side, sister, her husband, their two boys, my cousin, DF's parents, his three brothers, his oldest brother's wife.

Whew... we made it to 18 and I thought we'd struggle. I feel bad that it's heavily weighted on my side for family, but DF doesn't have much close family. :rolleyes1 it's a weird situation and uncomfortable to discuss with him!

Anyway, stay tuned for any new developments.

 Welcome Welcome! I hope you enjoy watching me freak out over the next year and a half.

Mini Update again
I've been doing a bit more research and am starting to work on some of the details. I know for sure that we want to do SBP escape hopefully at 2:30pm but now we've decided to do Ohana's for a reception dinner at 5:30pm. Has anyone done this before with a group of 20? I've heard rumors of them splitting up members and I wanted some feedback. Also... is 2:30 ceremony and 5:30 dinner an unreasonably short time gap?
:scared1: I'm always so full of questions and I wish they were ANSWERS!

Ah well, I need to relax because the Disney side of this wedding isn't worth worrying about till 6 months from now!
