ME Luggage Tags? - UPDATE 4/20 - NEW UPDATE 4/26

Thank you jrsybell! I don't care if they get here the day before, as long as I get enough! Clearly we won't have time to get more.

Thanks again!

WDWsnooper - We must have spoken to the same person because I was also told of the big Mickey hands even though I didn't mention them in my post. When I spoke with him though he said he hoped the package got here in time, but repeated a few times that if I didn't get it I could still go to the Welcome Center and get assistance. I didn't get the same feeling of confidence that it would get here in time - maybe because I leave a couple of days earlier? We'll just have to wait and see (and hope for the best!)

I live in NY and I still did not get mine yet. :sad2:

No luggage tags or info here yet for a May 7 departure. Ugh.

I would have thoguht that they would have really pushed to have this ME start of strong and well organized, rather than playing catch-up once the program is launched. We'll see how it goes!

Good luck, everyone.

Well, mine came today Fedex but I wasn't here to sign for it so they didn't leave it. I signed the form and assume they will leave it tommorow.

I got very frustrated today trying to call the ME number. I called at least 9 times all day and it rang and rang to no end. I finaly gave up and glad that I don't have to do it again tommorow.

I would call because when I called she said they would be fedex that day I got them the next day!

We are arriving on 5/5 and are also waiting on the ME tags. I did get through to a CM at the ME number today, and was told the same thing that others have been told - there was a printing problem and they are trying to get the tags out by the time we leave. (She wasn't sure about FedEx or regular mail.) She also told me that if our tags don't arrive, there will be Disney CM's at the airport that will give us the tickets for the free shuttle. I'm not sure about the baggage, but am thinking it won't be a big deal to claim our own bags and then hop on the free shuttle.

For now, we are keeping our fingers crossed that the ME documents arrive soon!

Called today and was given the impression that there was a good chance that we wouldn't see the tickets. Was told to be sure to have some special tags on my bags to identify them like ribbon and to make sure I keep my baggage claim tickets. They will claim the luggage and get it to the hotel. I'll keep watching for them but if they don't arrive on time I'm sure it will all work out in the end.

I haven't flown in a while - do you get claim tickets if you check your luggage with a skycap? I don't recall ever receiving anything like that, but my memory might be wrong.

I did call the ME toll-free number yesterday and the guy I got on the phone was nice. I wanted to make sure that they had my flight information and they did. He told me the same thing he told to others...that printing caused a delay and that they were making every effort to get the tags out.

I asked what to do in case the luggage tags didn't come and he said that when I arrive to the Orlando Airport...to make my way to the Disney Welcome Center on Level 1A and they would work to make sure my luggage was secured and stowed in the bus. He said to make sure I keep the baggage claim tags and be prepared to describe your luggage to them so they can more easily secure your bags. Another suggestion: Put the name of the resort you are going to on one of your name tags on the luggage...that would be helpful.

I asked what color the tags were that they sent out and he said yellow. He also suggested an identifiable marking such as a ribbon of some kind would be helpful. So, I plan on getting yellow markers/ribbons for my luggage...that way I'm at least matching their Disneyfied color of yellow.

Good luck to us all and keep your fingers crossed that we get our tags. I just want to have them in hand before I leave so I don't have to be concerned with any more details. :smooth:

I've never checked my luggage with a skycap but I'm quite certain they will give you luggage claim checks. Those are very important if your luggage goes astray -- the airlines use the info on the claim checks to track your bags. Some airports (such as McCarren in Las Vegas, but not MCO) actually verify your claim checks against the tags on your bags as you leave the baggage claim area to be sure you haven't grabbed the wrong bags. So you should always hang on to those claim checks!

Regardless if you check your luggage with the skycap or at the counter they will adhere a barcoded tag to your luggage and give you a claim tag. They usually put these on your ticket envelope. Keep them handy when you arrive at MCO. I too am planning on finding some special tags for my luggage to make them easy to find.

Correct, whether you check in at the ticket counter, kiosk, or curbside you will receive the tags that indicate where you are flying to and little ones they will adhere to your ticket jacket. Hold on to them because that is your proof that you checked bags. Also be sure to put a copy of your itinerary and phone numbers where you can be reached inside your suitcase in case the tags are lost.

Leaving on May 7th and still no ME tickets, luggage tags, or info - nothing. I'm going to call, again, tomorrow and see what's going on.

We leave 2 days after you..no tags, info either...let us know if you find out
anything tomorrow, we will do the same :)

THis is the information we received from our Dist.Mgr. today , she also said there is going to be released a Dmail for us sometime today , as of right now it has not come yet but if anything different will certainly post it here. I leave on the 8th and still haven't gotten mine.......so I am in same boat as everyone else.

Guests are to head straight to the Welcome Center. There will be plenty of signage and cast members all over the airport. If you did NOT recieve your tags, you are to tell a cast member in the Welcome center and they will personally go with you to the luggage area and pull your luggage. At NO time are you to board the bus without doing this, as you will not recieve the luggage at the resort.

Of course if you recieved your tags your all set to just go to the Welcome Center.

I recieved my regular luggage tags yesterday and they had Cinderella's Castle on them. No where in the paperwork did it mention that the ME tags were sent seperately so till now I have had the idea that those were the tags. Not very informative in there information packet thingy. Oh I leave June 2nd. Hope they have the kinks worked out by then. All of you good luck with next week and still enjoy your trip even if you have problems. Take care

We are leaving May 7th & recd our packet yesterday,by FedEx. I also spoke with a nice cast member & he said it should only be about 15 minutes from gate to shuttle & it should leave right away. He said there are 35 new buses so there should be no wait. Think its true? Should I cancel our rental car?
