ME & arriving at 6 PM

Flying in from the West Coast, our flight lands around 6 PM. Instead of using the luggage tags, we thought we'd claim our bags ourselves so that once we get to our resort & check in, we can go right to MK, which is open late. If we use ME to transport our luggage, we'd possibly have to wait around for them to deliver our luggage, and taking up valuable Park time.

Do I have this right? or does the Resort just bring our bags to our room once it arrives - whether we're in the room or not?

We will want access to our bags right away once we return from the Park.

You don't have to be in the room when the bags are delivered, we rarely are.

IMHO the luggage delivery service is one of the best parts of DME. Just pack a carryon with valuables and anything you need for 24 hours. Skip the bagage carosel and head right to DME. Check in and hit the parks, when you return to your room your bags will be waiting in the room.

Whether you pick up your luggage or let DME deliver it you should pack a carry on bag with the items you will need for the first twenty four hours. That way if your luggage is delayed or lost you have what you need.
