DH has not been through MCO for about 16 years and I've never been there...so we want to know how much time it will take once we land to get straight through after customs and immigration picking up bags etc. Does it depend on how many flights / people are landing at roughly the same time from the UK and Europe. We've noticed for the last couple of days "our" plane has landed about 4.45pm Orlando time and we are trying to estimate how long to allow to clear the airport and find our TRANSFER BUS (non-drivers), then get to the hotel hopefully checking in around 7pm.. earlier if possible.:chat: We've done Sanford in anything from 30 mins to 1hr 30 mins depending on the number of flights which landed together:thumbsup2
So come on all you MCO veterans fill us in :surfweb:

we usually do it within an hour max. For the Second bag pickup I wait for cases, while DH goes and sorts car out, this speeds things up a bit.:thumbsup2

You could easily be 90 minutes before you get away from the airport, we are fortunate as flying PE with Virgin means our cases are off-loaded earlier.

If your cases do not come off quickly you can be left waiting 20-30 minutes for them, and with the 'double baggage' claim issue at MCO in mind also.

I would say you could get away in an hour or so, but don't be surprised if it's a good half hour longer.

We've done it in less than an hour even with being the last ones off the plane. The right hand lane at immigration routine worked to our advantage. We've always hired a car so I don't know how long you'd have to wait for a transfer bus.

my sis landed there last saturday at 5.40pm with virgin , took them 3 hours to get out of the airport, some of this was because dollar car hire only had 2 manning the desks and 2 jumbo loads of people queuing.

First time June 2004 took 1 and a half hours

Second time Nov 2005 1 hour

This time really hope to beat the one hour.

First tip I give to anyne now going thru MCO and hiring a car thru Dollar is Register online with Dollar Express.
Lines at Dollar can be over 1 hour long like it was at Easter for us(our friends got stuck in it forgot to tell him about DE). We went to Dollar Express line no-one in front of us and the next available person called us over, took about 5 mins max.
Its free and you can book your car thru Dollar, Airline network or anywhere else. Fill in all your personal details online then just show your card, rental voucher and License.

Also at the Dollar Desk there is a seperate queue for F.V. DH always goes in this queue even if theres only a few in the normal queue and you are always called forward to the next available desk.

We have flown in to MCO around 10 times and the only time it took more than an hour was due to a thunderstorm as we got off the plane and they wouldn't unload the baggage, we had an extra 45 minutes wait in the baggage terminal till it stopped raining.

Three weeks ago we were in and out in under an hour:thumbsup2

It's good to know you can get through in less than an hour we will prepare ourselves for 90 mins time allowance then we may be pleasantly surprised if we get done quickly:cloud9:

We always go Virgin PE and the fastest we have managed was 45 mins.

I think we were the 4th customers to Dollar, I fetched the bags whilst my wife sorted the car. To be fair, when you get used to the layout of anywhere you get faster.

The last time we went we landed at 3.50pm and were in our car on the toll road by 4.50pm popcorn::

We are usually out in 45 minutes, the longest was an hour.

Hi,
Took us two hours yesterday but 50 minutes of that was waiting in the Budget car hire line.

Also at the Dollar Desk there is a seperate queue for F.V. QUOTE]

I usually book through Airline Network for car hire - Do I need to do anything if I enrol with Dollar Express so that I can take advantage of the Express Lines?

Can some tell me what a FV line is?

Thanks

Just register on their website, link below, they will send you a card, took about a week to get to me.
When you get to the desks there is a line to the left for Express card holders. they take from there before the main line. give them Airnets voucher, Express card and your Licenses. She asked "is the full size car big enough?" I said it was, we signed docs and on our way. Got to car and we had been upgraded 2 sizes to Luxury class Chrysler 300.
It is a great service, Don't tell too many people about it or it will get busier than regular line:lmao:
