IS IT TRUE THAT THERE IS A MCDONALDS WITHIN WALKING DISTANCE OF THE ALL STAR RESORTS? IS THIS THE SAME MCDONALDS IN DOWNTOWN DISNEY OR OUTSIDE THE WDW RESORT?

It's pretty close to All Stars but I'm not sure it's ideal for walking to because I don't remember seeing any sidewalks.

It would be easier to walk to from Sports rather than Music or Movies since Sports is the closest.

thanks for the information......so if its around the corner from all stars, is it on or off disney property, is it in kissimmee or lake buena vista?:earsboy:

the McD's is in the area of the AS's but it would be a long walk with sporadic sidewalks at best. Plus, you'd be walking along a very busy roadway.
With all the excellent foods at the foodcourts in AS's--you won't even miss it!!

WDW on June 24:wave: :earsgirl: :earsboy: :earsboy: :earsgirl:

Is this McDonald's the really cool one that I've seen on the Travel Channel?

I wouldn't say it was "cool", but it may be the one. Anyway, it is on property. It is about a 1/4 (I would guess) from the all Star Sports. You have to pass by it coming or going to the All Star resorts. I personally wouldn't walk, because of the reasons posted but it is totally doable if you want to walk. Not far at all. I was excited about it being there when we went in Nov, but with the food court, we never went there. Anyway to answer your question, yes it is walking distance.

If you're thinking about the largest McD's, this is not it. That one is on Sand Lake Rd, near International drive.

This is just a McD with a giant fries box look in the front of it.

Why go to a McD when All Stars food court has good food?

I don't seem to sound like a mom but hey I am one! One day while at WDW my dh and 2 children went to IOA while my youngest son and myself stayed back at WDW. He just wasn't going to be tall enough to ride too much at IOA and I'm perfectly happy never leaving WDW. I didn't want him to feel left out though so I told him he could (basically) decide what we were going to do for the day. He was going through chicken McNugget withdrawal  so I asked at the All Stars desk about how far a walk to McDonald's would be. They said, "Ma'am it isn't that it is too far but the traffic makes it dangerous and it is our policy to discourage walking there." I wasn't going to take a chance so we ended up taking the bus to Downtown Disney and went to the McDonald's there which actually turned out to be not as bad as I had envisioned and a whole lot cleaner with better service and food than our local McD's. (I still would rather not eat at McD's on vacation but we were having a really neat mom and son day and he really wanted McDonald's). From then on when we left the AS Sports I noticed the walk and there IS a ton of traffic, tourists driving that don't know where they're going, and spots without sidewalks. After REALLY looking at it I was glad we hadn't attempted the walk. I'm sure that it CAN be done but I definitely wouldn't recommend it if you have children with you and can't say I would even if it's just adults but that's just my honest opinion.

I am pretty sure if you can get past the parking lot and across the street that there is a pathway to the McD's. I have seen people, guests and workers, go through. It is not well marked so I have a feeling that they do not really want people to walk over there.

I have been a bit upset since the prices are so much more than outside the park and someone posted that if you go inside the prices are lower than the drive thru. Have not tried it myself though.

SINCE I WILL BE TRAVELING ON A BUDGET W/2 SMALL CHILDREN, I THOUGHT MCDONALDS WOULD BE A GOOD CHOICE FOR OCCASIONAL MEALS, I DON'T HAVE A PROBLEM WITH DINING AT WDW FOOD COURTS, BUT I HAVE READ THAT THEY ARE A BIT OVER PRICED.

I see your point but the McD's in DTD is VERY over priced...I think it was over $2 for a hamburger...aren't they normally less then a $1?

Can the kids split a meal? If they can, then the food court would be a good choice. Take for instance, the chicken strips meal. It's about $5, you get 3 huge strips plus a ton of fries. Split that, and it's on par with what you'll pay for McD and you get better quality of chicken.

Or.. another way is to get a double cheeseburger/hamburger, add an extra bun, and split it that way. Each burger can have its own topping from the topping station.

The personal pizzas are also great for splitting. They're pretty big, even for my 6yr old.

We used the drive thru of this McD's every Early Entry morning in
2000. They open @ 6 AM.

The prices seemed to be just a little higher than the ones @ home. Breakfast Combo Meals for 4 was well under $20.

D2K(Disnsy 2000) was 9 nights and 10 days. On the morning of our 10th day the CM knew our car, my voice and just asked if we were getting the usual! order. We all laughed and I tipped her with a Disney Dollar!

Everything (including McDonald's) is a bit over priced compared to "home". BUT I know that a lot of the portions at counter service type places are large so while it may seem like it's overpriced, it's not if your family shares. For example, my family which includes dh, myself, and 3 children went to Pecos Bill's and dh ordered a cheeseburger, fries, and a drink for all of us. I know for sure that my youngest ds and I could have easily shared one burger and we had soooo many fries we couldn't finish that it was a shame. And we are a french fry loving family lol. Part of the fun of WDW is the snacks they offer too so don't worry, you can eat and do it affordably.
