McCain Vs. Obama

Are we playing 'which one of these things doesn't belong? McCain is the correct answer. Oh, and I believe you have a typo in your list. :rolleyes1

Hagee & Parsley were endorsements, neither was a church that McCain has gone to 20+ years. As for the Bush Admin, EVERYONE knows there is no love lost between McCain and Bush, they don't exactly see eye to eye on most things.

I could have not said it better myself.

That sounds good, until I balance it against his fondness for friendships with ministers (and Heaven knows who else will surface?) who seem to have a real beef against "Whitey." The latest one (Catholic priest) who went on a rant about Hillary feeling entitled to the nomination because she was White, made me ask......."Just what makes Obama feel so entitled?" Yes, he's ahead a few delegates and will almost certainly win, but it's very close. Where does his sense of entitlement come from?

No, I'm not voting for McCain. But this freshest bit of nastiness from the pulpit of Obama's church once again backs up my uneasy feeling that he is only pretending to want to unite ALL of us. It's an act. His true feelings can be seen when you watch his fellow church members jump to their feet and cheer every time someone launches into a rant against White people.

I don't know how many times people have to see this scene played out over and over with different characters before they get a clue. :rolleyes1 It's right there in front of our faces, plain as day, and it's not pretty. If Obama becomes President, race relations in this country will be set back at least 30 years.

Wow - that is one stressed out priest. In all my years as a Catholic - I have never seen a priest as animated as that. They usually preach homilies based on the gospel of that day.......

In fact - I have never heard a priest ever even discuss politics - perhaps maybe to only "hint" to voting for someone who was not pro choice......

I agree. I'm amazed that some people think that Obama will be The Great Uniter. :confused3 I think that if he becomes president, the divisions will be worse than ever. :worried:

I can't see Obama as a uniter, either. He belongs to a church that has too much hate. To be a uniter you have to forgive and move forward. And I see no signs of forgiveness and moving forward. It is like he belongs to the KKK.

Some people think our country is headed to a race war. I'm not sure, but looking at that church I can see it happening.:(

I've always heard social issues/politics preached about in church. The issues of the day have always been tied into the sermons.

As a matter of fact, from September- November, you can't walk into a black church without tripping over all the politicians. (Of course you never see most of them after the election:rolleyes1) Many times the politician will speak to the congregation after the pastor is done preaching.

I've seen this in churches in New York, North Carolina and South Carolina.

I've never heard a preacher support a candidate. They just allow them to fellowship and address the congregation.

This takes the cake. People are nuts.

How many churches have they burned downed? How many homes have they fired bombed? How many people have they killed?

Are people really living in fear of the members of that church?

Are they plotting to KILL and TORTURE anyone? Have they committed any crimes against anyone?

People who think we are heading to a race war, are looking for just that. God forbid is something that awful were to happen, these idiots will ignore the years of racial problems that have existed in this country. They will blame it all on Obama and his church. Who knew such a small number of people had so much power.

We've made it through Reconstruction, Jim Crow, school desegregation, the Civil Rights movement, Assassination of Martin Luther King, John F. Kenndy, Malcom X, the murder of Medgar Evers, Emitt Till .. without a race war. If we made it pass these horrific and trying times as a country, I think we can make it pass anything.

If we didn't have a race war when the KKK was running rampant, why would anyone think there would be one now.

I'm Catholic, have attended mass regularly for the past 25+ years and I have never heard a Catholic Priest go on like that man did.....One time a nun got up during Ash Wednesday mass and started discussing abortion, in detail...I had my girls with me at the time and they were about 6 or 7....I was in shock, didn't know what to do. After mass, Father must have gotten an earful :listen: After that, I've never heard anything like that again.

McCain :thumbsup2

BTW, OP should have used the Poll option...can you still do that OP?

As much as I really don't care for Mccain, I am not voting for someone that wants to raise my taxes, tax me for healthcare for other people and wants to have group therapy with terrorists that live to hate the US. There is a reason Carter got voted out of office and I don't want another Carter.

I think taxes are going to have to be raised no matter who is in office. I'd rather pay for our debt than have China pay for it.

You are very wise! :thumbsup2

That means you believe in the same failed policies of "shock & awe," "4 plus decades of restrictions on Cubans," "It's our way or the highway," and pre-emptive wars.

America would be respected and stronger if we knew that there is strength in DIPLOMACY.

So, how do you define dimplomacy with terrorists? And my unease with Obama does not tell you anything about what I believe about "shock & awe" - I just don't believe in sitting around a table with terrorists.

Hate to say it, but I agree. I don't think he is going to bring anyone together.

Oh come on sure he is...he is doing a great job uniting the Hillary supporters and the McCain supporters on the DIS....:santa:

I am an idealist. I believe in change. I have a desire for something better. McCain is more of the same old, old drain.

Isn't it so easy to see our favorite candidate as being unfairly attacked and all the others as having the benefit of the media's favor, and to then believe everything that is being said about them. Boil it all down and it's politics as usual, which I am sick to death of.

Personally, I won't vote for Ms Clinton. Certainly not because she's a woman but because of her record. I feel she has flipped and flopped right along with public opinion. Whatever the polls say is what she believes and talks about, and votes. She has great excuses when her past votes don't line up with current public opinion, but other than a few issues she's been all over the place with her views. She has also expressed what I feel is a sense of entitlement of ending up with the democratic nomination - if not the Presidency itself - since way back when her husband was still president. How many times have we heard "it's my turn", "it's Hillary's turn"...... I've lost count, and I guess it's obvious some of you agree. :duck:

I won't vote for McCain either. He's too close in philosophy to Bush. I think he's more liberal on some points but I can't like what the Republicans have done to our economy or how they've handled the war, and I just feel it would be more of the same.

As for Mr Obama, ??. I concede he doesn't have as much experience but there's part of me that thinks that could be an advantage. I don't like where our country has headed the last 20 years or the way things have been handled, I think I think I might be ready for a big change.

I think it is ridiculous that the media continues to find people around him and accuse him of believing exactly what they do. Yes, he may carry some guilt by association but even when he shows by word and/or action that he does not believe or live by the things the others have preached, done or said he is still blamed for them.

This has gone to the point that some Christian people are blaming him for what Oprah is doing on her show. If she is moving toward new age ideas then he must be too. So be scared!!! Because she is uber influential! And he allowed her to campaign for him. How could he possibly think for himself! :scared1: I have received the same email about this over and over. In my mind it's ridiculous.

I was very intrigued by a youtube I saw recently that showed how young minority people are responding to his run for the presidency. It brought to mind what has been explained to me at church as "privilege" - things we take for granted that really give us major advantage over others. I was quite inspired by this idea. If his presidency could give hope to millions of Americans who now feel they have little or none... it might be a very good idea. Check this out: http://my.barackobama.com/yestheycan

If we as Americans can truly look at a man and say his race makes him qualified or unqualified for any position in our country then we haven't make much progress in the last 50 years. Isn't it time we break the barrier of color and make everyone in our country feel like it is truly their possibility to become whatever they set their mind to become?

I'm sure you all have genuine reasons for why you back your candidate, that's certainly you're right. But I'm thinking I'll give real change a chance.

Exactly why is it OK to have a "Black Church" but not ok to have a "white Church"?

McCain all the way. I just don't like Obama. I don't want a man for president who hasn't even visited Iraq in years. Who went to church for 20 years with a pastor like the Rev. Wright. Even though he did leave the church its to little to late. If America elects Obama I'm moving out of the country. I don't care if I have to live on the streets. We will be in big trouble. The man has no experience at all and McCain has it. He's been to war. He knows what our troops are going through. All five of my great uncles and my grandfather all served in WW2. I'm proud of them and I'm proud of the troops serving now. This war is not for nothing. They attacked first just like Japan attacked us. Let the troops do their job. God Bless you all.

Do what's best for America VOTE MCCAIN!!!

I just posted something on the Hillary Boards with regards to this.

This country is not headed to a race war. The only thing this election has done is bring out the true feelings people have had for years.
That is why he is winning the younger voters. It is because many can over look the ignorance of their elders
