McCain Vs. Obama

As you said, people must want it, there is a large group on both sides that don't want to be united.

Sheesh....I'd love a united country. I just don't believe Obama is the one to do it, no matter how many times he tries to sell me swamp land. I didn't buy, "I'm a uniter, not a divider," and I don't buy Obama's line either. I was never big on, "The check's in the mail," or "I can't get you pregnant because I'm sterile" for that matter. I guess I'm just a skeptic. Or a realist.

OBAMA, Rezko, Ayres, Wright, Pfleger, - I couldn't decide which one I thought fit better:

1. Birds of a feather flock together.
or
2.When you lay down with dogs you end up with fleas.

I think they both fit quite nicely.

Does he really seem like the kind of person who would find the outlandish behavior in those few clips acceptable though? Other than skin color, I'm not seeing a commonality between him and the preacher, or the people we've seen wailing away in the congregation. He's said when he joined 20 years ago it was because of the community work he was doing. I have no doubt that many of those he was trying to help were members and others there we're a good source of support. I have no doubt that support was mighty useful when it came to his local government career too. I just don't think that spiritually and inspiration was his only reason for being there.

No, he doesn't; however, all I'm seeing of him is what he presents in his campaign. In my heart of hearts, I really don't feel that he feels that way. And I see your points about why he would remain in that church. However, if for any reason I walk into a church that was of that slant, I wouldn't stay for any reason. I think there are probably other places he could have been.

I would not "not" vote for him over this, but I'd be lying if I didn't say that his affiliation with people like that makes me a bit nervous.

I think I am probably pretty much in agreement with you, but take a little harder stance. As along as people are talking about it it is an issue, it won't become not an issue untill people stop making it one.

I honestly don't care if a politico is white, black, brown, male, female, gay or straight, it doesn't make a bit of difference to me. My problem is when said politico takes their posistion and advocates for white, black, brown, male, female, gay or straight. Their job is supposed to be making laws for all the people not any select subset of them.

I have serious doubts about Obama's ability to unite the nation when he has divided his own party in half and along racial lines.

If you watched the proceedings of the DNC rules committee yesterday it became quickly apparent that there are real wounds there--wounds which won't likely be by November or even soon thereafter.

::yes:: ITA!!!

Also:
How on earth can we expect Obama to stand up to leaders of other countries when he can't even handle a reporter talking about his ears?

Obama, from 10/2006 talking to Maureen Dowd (reporter): "You talked about my ears. I just want to put you on notice: I'm very sensitive about -- what I told them was, 'I was teased relentlessly when I was a kid about my big ears.' "

What if the President of Iran or the leader of North Korea ends up meeting with him and says something snarky about his ears, is he going to 'put them on notice' too? :sad2:

Divided his party along racial lines? For one, I am a white woman..all of my family is white and we almost to a one, support Obama. Number two, a few of the Clinton supporters on the rules committee were black. :confused3

McCain - The next president of the US!
Obama - Will be no more than a answer to a 2010 edition to Trivial Pursuit!

(Question: Who sat for 20 years and listened to anti American hate speaches given by his self proclaimed spiritual leader & Uncle and then was caught lying continuously about it?)

I agree. I'm amazed that some people think that Obama will be The Great Uniter. :confused3 I think that if he becomes president, the divisions will be worse than ever. :worried:

Look what he has done so far to the DNC!:rolleyes1

that's a very interesting (and good) point.... and I think something to keep in mind is, we've been fed little soundbite clips of some fiery speeches at that church.... but have we been shown every sermon given from that pulpit for the past 20 years? Have they *all* been of that same style, or were the majority of them much more tame?

I can't say either way, since I've never been to that church, but I'd be willing to bet that more sermons given there weren't of that caliber shown to us over and over again by the media.

Rev Wright himself said in a Press Conference.that everything we heard was true, and not only his beliefs but his flocks beliefs also. That is when Obama finally sort of denouced, rejected, through him under the bus with his grandmother!
So that whole "we just heard snippets' theory went out the window.

All I have to say is DISUNC

OBAMA, Rezko, Ayres, Wright, Pfleger, - I couldn't decide which one I thought fit better:

:scratchin Hmmm...that is a tough one....how about #3.All of the above ?

do you have a link to a transcript where he said that? I did a search and found the transcript of his 'press club' q&a, and didn't see anything in there where he said "everything we heard was true".... in fact, when asked about certain comments, he asked the person questioning him if they had heard the entire sermon, at which time they said no....

so yes, we are getting 'snippets' and 'soundbites' of sermons; and not the entire picture. Are those soundbites outrageous? Absolutely. Does that mean everything he said/did over the past 20 years is that way? Absolutely not.

McCain = if you always do what you always did then you'll always get what you always got. IOW, if you're happy now with the way things are going in the government, vote for McCain.

Obama or Clinton = change, peace, calm, American pride, better world relationships thus power, choice, privacy, getting our Constitution and Bill of Rights back, awesome!!! IOW, if you seek change, vote for Obama or Clinton.

I can do it too!!!

McPain, Hagee, Parsley, Bush, Rove, Cheney

Are we playing 'which one of these things doesn't belong? McCain is the correct answer. Oh, and I believe you have a typo in your list. :rolleyes1

Hagee & Parsley were endorsements, neither was a church that McCain has gone to 20+ years. As for the Bush Admin, EVERYONE knows there is no love lost between McCain and Bush, they don't exactly see eye to eye on most things.

Go McCain! :thumbsup2

I absolutely hate the way Obama's campaigning! "Latinos for Obama", "Women for Obama", etc, etc. He's all about bring the country together, but he's already dividing it apart! (Plus I don't agree with him on many issues and feel he lacks the experience needed to be diplomatic with other countries...)
