Christmas and just mainly to look at all the decorations?

The reason I ask this is that my mom and I would just love to go down during the Christmas season to see all the decorations. And, now that Dad is more limited to what he can do, no more Space Mountain or Splash Mountain :( but I thought it might be nice (if we can swing it) to go down and go to the parks but not so much for the rides but the atmosphere.

The last time we were there, we really took our time to see what we wanted to see, spent more time at the resort, took our time and really enjoyed it. I really want to get them down there at least one more time before my dad really gets sick.

Any advice?

Sounds good to me! But I thought Christmas time is pretty busy, is that a problem?

We went last Christmas (Dec 6-15) and are planning on going down this year again to use our annual passes one last time.

It is beautiful and the crowd level (if you go before Christamas week) is very low.

Sorry about you dad...

We actually prefer to go during the first two weeks of December as the parks are virtually dead, the decorations are spectacular, the weather is perfect (we actually went swimming at the resort), and we had the best time at Mickey's Very Merry Christmas party. :teeth:

If you can avoid the actual week of Christmas through to New years the crowds are minimal, the weather is wonderful and the decorations are spectacular! By Thanksgiving, all the decorations are up.
If I'm not mistaken, this year the Osborn's family christmas celebration will be back in MGM, that is a wonderful thing to see, I'm sure you would all love it- including DAD.
Go ahead and make your plans. Enjoy!

Pete's Mom said what I was going to say, plus, if staying onsite, resorts are value season priced, along usually, with discounts. Hope this will be my 6th year at that time.

My best wishes for your dad.

We have, well to also enjoy Disney, but I have gone now 3 times during the Christmas season (between the first week of December one time, the week before and during Christmas, and the week after Christmas) and we have planned that because we love looking at the decorations. Just a favorite time for us. I've been one other time during February and it was so weird to see the parks without the Christmas decorations. The flowers were beautiful but it was just so weird - and kind of plain.

I've been to WDW for the first week or two of December for the past three years. It's becoming an ever more popular time to visit for just the reasons that you stated. I hope to make it down there again this year.

Thank you all for your responses. I was looking at the week before Christmas because I know the week of gets crazy crowded. Now, I just have to convince them to go! :p

As long as you head outta there before X-Mas eve, the crowds won't be too bad. We have made several trips the week before X-Mas and the weather and decorations were wonderful.

Mickey's Mom, I am doing just that this year! I am taking my DM with us just to see the pretty decorations. I am really looking forward to going over to the GF to see the gingerbread house!:D

We've been at that time of year for our last two trips - the 2 weeks leading into Christmas. The atmosphere and decorations are wonderful but the weather was bitterly cold, especially the wind. Last trip it rained for most of the 2 weeks we were there too, not just a quick downpour but continuous. The only time it was mega crowded was Christmas Day in the MK but we knew it was going to be - it also rained! ;)

I hope you have a great time and better weather than we experienced! :sunny:
