Good morning Goofs!
My April miles = 67.25

Angie....(and everyone else) Every 15 minutes of exercise time where you don't have miles (like you do for running or cycling) counts for one mile (so 4 miles/hour...which is just like a Disney walker time limit!) And race distance counts double.

For April I have a combined 223 miles (amazing what a few bike workouts will do!)

Did my 10k yesterday......report is over on the race thread. It went well and I PR'ed in 49:40. Of course, as I was running I was asking myself "Why am I doing this!"

Maura

Hey Goofs, I'm starting to get buried again so sorry I haven't been posting much. This has been an unbelievably busy two weeks at work. I'm bringing too much home with me which is really cutting into my workout time. My April miles are 86.7 though.

I ran the Avenue of the Giants Half Marathon this morning. I had never run this particular course before and it was pretty hard. The excessive potholes and heat made it pretty difficult for me. I was trying really hard for a PR. I wrote my PR pace and worst pace on my Garmin in pencil, trying to beat my PR but making sure I didn't get as low as my worst.

I started strong but was just barely below my PR pace by mile 12 when my Garmin lost signal under the canopy of trees. It never found the signal again so I couldn't see how I was doing.

I finished the race and saw my Garmin time was 1:04 under my PR! Since I started it at the first of two mats and ended it at the last of three, I was sure my time would be at least as good as this and maybe a few seconds under.

I waited all day for the results to be posted online and they finally were. I searched by my name and bib number and I wasn't there! Either the start, finish, or halfway mat must not have registered me as crossing. I was really bummed as I want to know my "official" time as well as this race counts toward our running club's points standings.

I emailed the race company with links to photos of me at various points throughout the race and the map from my Garmin showing I made it to the halfway point and back as well as my time export but I don't know if there is anything they can do. Oh, well. At least I got another medal to decorate my wall!

92.8 miles for April, all running. Not bad, I just didn't do any long runs at all.
Ran 23/30 days for the month, so I feell pretty good with my consistency.

Running miles for April - 137.59 (including doubling of one organized fun run)
Biking miles - 544 (doubled due to the 272-mile PALM challenge at the Y)

May should be a good month as well - I started the month with a marathon on Saturday, and I have an ultra later on in the month. And I should get in more biking as well, since they told us to start biking back on the PALM challenge. :thumbsup2

I started the c25K at work today! I had a total of 4 girls join me. Only one actually ran but they all get points for trying! They are all inspired to have a "biggest loser" type contest. Three of ladies are obese so I am super excited to be a part of getting them healthier (this seems to ring a bell:rolleyes1).
I had them drink kefir post run and I bought them fresh eggs from my girls for later. I'll let you know the progress.

Good Morning Goofs,

I wanted to post my April miles before I forget. 142.9.

This is my last easy week of recovery after the marathon. I'm hoping to build up to 5 days a week running during this month. We'll see how the old legs like it.

Maura: Great job on the PR. I'll go find the RR now.

Joanne: Great job getting people motivated for C25K. Even if you send just one person down a healthier path, you've accomplished a lot.

Rich: You'll get us to WDW in no time with that mileage. Way to go.

Steve: Tough break with no results. I hope it gets figured out. Great job on your PR.

Jason: Great job on your consistency for the month.

Jeanne: Great job.

M: Yea!!

Have a great day everyone.
Cindy

Hi Goofs!! I will get the numbers updated soon...sorry! I'm not being a slacker, I promise. Life is just happening right now and theres more on the calendar than usual.

I did a 5K on Saturday morning and all the registration money minus the active.com fees go to Habitat for Humanity. Race shirts, food, etc is all paid for by the sponsors. No chip timing but my Garmin came in at 3.35 with a 12:19 min/mile pace. That would be amazing for me!

Medal update from the 10K on April 17th...nothing. Responded to an email from the race director on April 25th and haven't heard back. Time for a phone call. I'm trying not to be a pest but I guess I just want to know if I will ever get a medal or not.

Have a great rest of the week everyone!!

Edited to add...I just realized that 2 years ago today, May 4, 2008, I did the Minnie 15K which was my first race!! What a two years it has been.

I love when I realize something like that! :goodvibes Proof that you never know where the first step could lead you!

Steve Congrats on a tough race! Let us know if they accept your proof. It must be frustrating to know you did it, but not have them officially believe you.

Rich You will single-handedly get us all to Disney! Great miles.

JoanneCongrats for helping others get healthy. Would definitely like to hear how that progresses. Even if one person succeeds, it will be a victory. You're a real ambassador for fitness.

Cindy What's next on the race agenda? The realy in your siggie?

Lauren Hi back at ya!

Suzanne Two years since we met up. Look how much we've acomplished since then! Congrats on your latest race. That's a great time. And I hope the medal comes through.

As for me....well, one training plan over, another begins. I decided that in order to keep my mileage up in case I decide to try the Free Press marathon in October, that I needed a plan that had some longer runs of around 10 or so on the weekends. So I am starting a half marathon plan from the book I use (Run Less, Run Faster). In about 8 weeks, I will have to decide--and start--on the marathon planning. Plus I am trying to get in 2x bike and swim/week (which I haven't been doing) in order to prep for a tri. Too much!

Anyway, time to go to the gym. Have a good Cinco de Mayo, all!

Maura

Hi All! Just stopping in to introduce myself. I'm 38 and just getting back into exercising after far too long off (many, many years). I'm signed up for the Expedition Everest challenge in June, it will be my first race ever. I originally started training back in December on the c25k program but in January had a severe back injury which was followed up with a chain of events which kept me out until we got back from WDW at the end of April, I figured if I could get around the parks all day for a week pain free I was good to go.

So while my goal of jogging the whole race is out the window hopefully I can finish with a decent walking time and work up to jogging my first 5k this fall. then start working towards a sprint triathlons next year.

Look forward to getting to know you all,
Randy

Randy...Welcome and great to have another person sucked into the running club.

WELCOME RANDY!!!

So far for April miles, I have numbers from Kim, Shan, Lauren, Angie, M, Jeanne, Maura, Steve, Jason, Rich, Cindy and myself. Did I miss anyone? If I did, sorry, please let me know.

15133.24 - 1789.17 = 13344.07

Hi Goofs!

I'm excited to introduce myself and be a part of the team!
I'm Dawn, 36 y.o SAHM to Travis 4 and Norah almost 3 and DH Mark. I teach infant/toddler and preschool swim lessons at the YMCA, I also sell Mary Kay (only a little now) and run sound at my church.
I am very new to running. My church sponsors a 3K walk/5K run each August. Two years I walked and pushed the kids in the stroller. Last summer a group of gals from my bible study decided we would run the 5K. This would be my first time running anything ever (I was not the athletic type in HS). Despite the fact we we trained for a few weeks at best I somehow managed to complete the 5K. Everyone looked so surprised when I burst into tears at the end (as the very last running to cross the finish - but that's neither here nor there). It was the hardest I've ever pushed myself physically and I couldn't believe I finished!

After swearing I'd never do anything like that again - I thought all winter about the Princess half. I knew that was too big of a goal for now and set it on the back burner. I began to research trips to return to WDW so I could attend MNSSHP. The stars lined up perfectly; in February I received a PIN for Free Dining with the dates ended the first weekend of October. I learned of the Wine & Dine Half Relay and knew I had a reason to go back (this trip is without my kids & DH) and better yet I had a goal!

So, I've been in training now for a few months. I read & listened to Dave Parfitt's interview with John "The Penguin" Bingham during Marathon Weekend and immediately went to the library to check out Running for Mortals! It was exactly what I needed to get started. I love the tone of the book and am following the walk/run training programs. I completed my second ever 5K two weeks ago; my goal was 45 minutes and I finished in 40 mins! :yay:

I am signed up to run another 5K at the end of May and am hoping to have a 10K under my belt by Sept. I'm shooting to do a race each month through October.

I'm excited to have found a great partner for the Half Relay on the DISUnplugged forum and really looking forward to my first Disney race. I think I've convinced myself to buy an AP on this trip so I can come back and do the 2011 Princess Half! It's a big goal but I am having so much fun running and challenging myself!

Ok, well now that the longest intro ever is finished, I'm glad to be a part of the group and look forward to getting to know everyone!
