May the Force be with who? A May 2013 PTR

The swim meet.....or the assignment???
The assignment of the swim meet.

The last one was very traumatic. Two coaches literally came at me physically and verbally when I was completely within my rights (and the state high school event photography rules). The athletic director tried to get them to compromise but they would have no part of it. :sad2:

It was the only time I've ever walked out on an assignment and with the blessing of my editor, will not return to photograph that team until the coaches apologize to me or the paper.

Good luck!

It went just fine. I talked to the state officials and I had their blessing. They asked why I was asking their permission and I told them I'd had issues in the past. I wanted their permission to use my flash.

Then I had to dodge a bunch of boys in speedos. :scared:

During the 500M freestyle race, non-participants hold signs in the water to help the swimmer in the race keep track of their laps. One of the team's kids kept jumping back every time the kid made his turn and splashed a little.

He was wearing a swim suit...

I just had to laugh because the kid was a swimmer and he didn't want to get wet.

Getting ready to make our paper countdown chain, I decided to have everyone write something they want to do on each link.

Here's DD's list:
  • go everywhere
  • see Ariel
  • ride the Yeti ride (and when I told her she was too little, she said, "That stinks... I want to scare the yeti!")
  • go to the Magic Kingdom
  • sleep on the airplane
  • ride the bus (ME)
  • See Tiana, Aurora, Rapunzel, Merida, Cinderella, Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy, Pluto, Daisy, and Pocohontas
  • go to Enchanted Tales with Belle - she wants to play the part of Phillipe because she has a good whinny
  • ride Under the Sea
  • see a sunset
  • ride a boat
  • get a new Mickey hat
  • go to BBB
  • get a new toy - specifically a plastic horse
  • ride in the airplane
  • get new pins - specifically fairies and Aurora

DH's list consists of:
  • see SWW
  • see SWW, again
  • ride Nemo
  • eat at Le Cellier
  • get a zebra dome (I need to find out if I can get those at Sanaa...)
  • see ALL of the characters
  • get a beer in EP (his personal tradition)
  • shop at the Boardwalk
  • visit the ESPN Club (he giggled when I told him it's next door to our resort)
  • ride JC
  • ride Dumbo
  • ride HM 12 times
  • check his fantasy baseball team
  • dance with Lucy and Trevor
  • see Beast's Castle (and eat there, adding lunch at BOG to the itinerary)
  • meet Phineas and Ferb
  • do the Agent P WS adventure
  • see the animals at AK
  • buy the kids a new toy

and THAT led to a whole different conversation. DD informed him that he HAD to buy her a toy at Disney World. He just laughed at her.

DS is supposed to make his list at my parent's house tonight. Since we are supposed to get snowed in tomorrow, we'll have time to make a 119 day long paper chain.

Well that will be fun. Lucy is funny. The plane is apparrently a highlight for her :rotfl:

Great lists......but.....where is YOURS?????

Wasn't done yet. :)

Tomorrow we will assemble it and I'll share one for each day up to the start of our trip.

Warning: there may be a few repeats.

But who cares! We'll be going to Disney!

FYI - I'll start our countdown of vacation wishes at 106 days to go. That's in 11 days. :)

Yeah right!

I have an amazing friend on Touring Plans who splits time between Florida and South Dakota (and no it's not E).

She has an AP and went into MK on December 6 and brought back several pins from the New Fantasyland opening. While she was in the park, she saw a Darkwing Duck tee shirt and I asked her to pick it up for DH.

I asked her to send it to my parent's house because DH is nosy.

Yeah, well... my dad forgot what was in the box and gave the box to DH.

:headache:

Luckily he didn't open it and bought the story that it was just special pins from FLE.

Now I need to find somewhere to hide the t-shirt for another 115 days.

:scratchin

Really??? Where does she live?

Sweet.

The rumor was that they were going to roll these out in February at BWI because it has the fewest rooms.

I would not count on this meaning the magic bands are coming sooner. POR had them installed a couple of months ago. The kttw cards now have the rfid chip in them. But, I do think we will see some of the new technology on our trips!

I'm REALLY not looking forward to them.

1) I'm afraid of how tight they'll need to be.
2) Will the come off?
3) My kids will not want to wear them for a week.
4) Wet skin under jewelry gives me the heebs...
5) Worried it'll make me feel hot being the wrist is a point where you can apply heat and cold and it affects your whole body temperature...

If I can take it off at the end of the day, I'm game.

I am truly worried about how the kids will react to them. They might think they're okay for the first tday or so, but I don't think the novelty will last.

And that's why you're going in May and I'm going in Sep/Oct. You can tell me all about it. :rotfl:
