It is with great sadness that we will be cancelling our cruise. My daughter Joanna has been in ICU in critical condition with multi system failure for the past 16 days in Celebration Hospital. We are very lucky to still have her with us. We do not have a discharge date and since she will need to have dialysis and extended care, we will be cancelling our cruise. It was very nice getting to know everyone here and I hope you all enjoy the cruise, I know we were so thrilled to be going. Hopefully we will meet up again on another Disney cruise.

I'm so sorry to hear about Joanna. We will keep her and all of you in our prayers. We will miss you on this cruise and hope our paths cross again! Take care, Anne

God bless Joanna, and my prayers are with you all.

Joanna, Lisa, and Family, Our thoughts and prayers are with you. If there is anything I can do or bring to you I'd be glad to come to Celebration Hospital to help you. Anna

I've gotten some PMs about the cost of the lanyards. For those that want to chip in, I figure they cost about $1 each to make. If you have a paypal account, you can donate at jlspence@hiwaay.net. I've still got about 20 extra lanyards and I can make any number of the laminated name cards for folks to put in their Castaway Club lanyards. Post here or send me a PM.

Hi Jeff,
I see that you going back to Med again. I just wanted to wish you a Magical trip. You will have to let those that cruised the Med with you in 2007 know how the trips compare.
Carol

Hey Carol,

We had so much fun the first time, we jumped at the chance to do it again. I tried to talk some of the other Medheads from the 2007 cruise into joining us but no luck. They were either doing Caribbean cruises, Baltic like yourself, or were saving up for Alaska and/or the Dream cruises in 2011. I'll definitely let the Medheads know how it goes! :thumbsup2

Hello everyone! This is my first time posting, and i cant express how excited i am to find this thread. With just a few weeks left and lot to do its great to read others thoughts and suggestions.
:cheer2:

Medheads??? :teeth: :rotfl: That's so cute!

Sayhello

First off, thanks for the welcome Jeff and thanks for all the info on the website (really helpful). I just wish i could have found it earlier after reading up on things like the FE's sounds like a blast :yay:
Secondly, my family and I also decided trying Rome on our own would be best considering the shuttle to Rome thru disney was already $100 a person. I really like the idea of a group meeting up to head to the train station because we can't really afford to get lost. There was another option I have been looking at, and its taking a private tour. I found one that offered ever stop that my family and i wanted to see during this port (which was alot ;)). This is what the private tour offers:
-private air-conditioned vehicle pick up at the cruise port
-private tour guide
-stops at:
*Vatican City (where admission is included and you skip the line)
*Sistine Chapel
*St. Peter's Basilica
*Michelangelo's Pieta
*St. Peter's Square
*A break for lunch or snack
*Pantheon
*Piazza Navona
*Trevi Fountain
*The Spanish Steps
*Colosseum (skip the lines again)
And then you are taking back to the ship (and because its a private tour all the assigned stops can be changed if we wanted to see something else)

I was wondering if anyone else is taking or has ever taken a private tour and what their thoughts are because i would love to have my Rome port organized soon, but there is soooo much we want to see in the Eternal City!

Thanks for your thoughts and sorry for the long post :rotfl:

Welcome to the Disboards!! This is our first cruise and our friends Travelbee introduced us to the boards. I've been on for about 3 weeks, I can tell you that this is a great fun loving group with an incredible wealth of knowledge. Feel free to post any questions or doubts.

Helen :goodvibes

Thanks Helen you are so right about this being a fun loving group we already feel so welcome. Wow your first cruise is an 11 night med on Disney HOW EXCITING! :woohoo:
Thanks again for the welcome Kia

Hi *~PiXiEpAl5~*. We are doing Rome on our own and have pre-booked tours directly for the Vatican and the Colosseum (hence no lines). Jeff's website has links where you can book these tours ahead of time. It's a lot cheaper than a private tour.

Please add us to the list meeting for the train. It will make not only finding the train easier but the ride in so much more enjoyable! Just to be sure...Lumiere's at 7:30?? Is anyone meeting up for the return as well?

Just checking in here as I'm getting more and more excited. I did something crazy yesterday and booked a flight to Germany to spend the last week of my husband's business trip with him. We are sorta sappy, and two weeks apart is a lot, especially when our anniversary is during that time period. So, I'm leaving Wednesday, and we will be back in Dallas on May 7 just in time to get ready to leave again on May 12. I am checking one "emergency cruise bag" that will have most of our essentials for the cruise just in case the volcano burps again. We won't have our formal wear or as much as we plan to take, but if we are stuck in Europe, we will find a way to Barcelona with enough clothes to enjoy ourselves. And, I'm used to drycleaning expenses onboard anyway!

I hope everyone is anxiously preparing for our wonderful cruise. I know this will be one to remember!

Welcome to our group. :)Dont worry about joining late, a lot of us only booked this cruise with just a few months to go, so we are all learning together about the Ports.
I noticed that you found our cruise website, there is a wealth of information on there Jeff Spencer ( one of our talented cruisers set it up for us. :cool1:

Thanks again to you and Susan for doing this. Could we have 2 more name cards please, as we will be having castaway lanyards for the first time, and it would be nice to keep both of them after.

Forgot to say on the post above.
Hi to everyone hope you all had a good weekend. Up until Sunday, we have not had any rain where I live for over two weeks. ( Very good for April).
So we have been able to get out and about, without having to be bundled up in coats.

Anyway only 19 more days until we are on the Magic.

Is somebody still organising the meet before we get the rain to Rome ?.
Just wanted to know, whether we would be best to get our train tickets, before we leave for the cruise ?.

Secondly is anyone going to do the Hop on hop off bus ?.
We are going to do this when we arrive and then visit some of the main sites afterwards.
I know we have only got a limited amount of time, but we know we our not going to get around it all.
Does anyone have any other ideas ?.

There was also somone saying about our Villefranche day, we wouldnt mind travelling with others to the destinations on this day.
We want to go to Monte Carlo and then maybe visit somewhere else afterwards ?. Again any ideas ?

I do not mind getting a list of names up together, but would prefer someone who has more knowledge about these ports to determine some of the details.
Phew

That would be Travelbee (Connie).

jojo6617 (Joanne) mentioned doing that. If all you want to do is visit Nice, Villefranche, and Monte Carlo, it is very easy (and inexpensive) to ride the bus. Eze, the mountain-top village is also accessible from this coastal route.
