Are you returning on the 11:20AM flight, May 26th? I know we'll be cutting it close but DCL said that we shoud be OK especially if we don't wait for DCL transfers to the airport.

Yes, we are! I thought the same thing, we may be cutting it close, but it's a non stop and anything later either had more stops or was twice the price. I think we should be fine.

Same here! We really wanted the non-stop and we liked the idea of getting in earlier since we still have to drive @ 3 hours back down to Delaware....and I have to work the next day:sad2:

I have a couple of questions for the veteran Magic cruisers......

What temperature do they keep the dining rooms at? :confused3

How hard or easy is it to do your own laundry on the ship? :laundy:

Thanks, Nancy

I've always found the dining rooms to be cool EXCEPT the back wall (mural) of Lumiere's/Triton's. That is super warm and we were broiling on my last cruise.

It is very easy to do your own laundry. The machines now use your KTTW card. You can bring your own soap/fabric softner. The machines have a timer so you know when they will be finished.

Thanks Jill...this will be helpful when trying to figure out what to pack.
I need to make sure I have enough room on the way home just in case I do any souvenir shopping!
(Shhhh! Frank doesn't know I plan on shopping!) :scared1:

LOL! I won't tell!

I've found individual packets of Tide in the travel sized product section at Target. I always pick up some of these packets and put some Bounce sheets in ziploc bags and use those for my laundry. Works great and no mess!

Well the wife and I did Malta on our own in 2008. Did the city and the HOHO bus. This time we are renting a car. Found a site that delivers and picks up car from port for under $50 total for the 4 of us. Should be interesting.

I want to offer a caveat to Jill's response. Sure there's nothing unique or special about the laundry facilities on board, HOWEVER, be aware that the laundry rooms can be very busy! The times that are convenient for doing laundry (like Sea Days) are convenient for everyone. They will be their least busy really late and really early and whenever we're in port and most folks are off on tours/excursions. :laundy:

Good point...I meant to say that but got distracted with work. :rotfl:

I've been using the Purex 3 in 1 sheets for traveling lately. They take up virtually no room in your luggage. They are detergent and fabric softener in one. You can get a sample at trypurex dot com / Purex_3-in-1_Free_Sample/

I can't post links (not enough posts) yet so I had to post it that way. The sample comes sealed with 2 of them in it so it is perfect for traveling. There are also coupons for the regular size (just google it) if you want more.
Hope that helps someone.:flower3:

It was ONE YEAR AGO today that my family booked this cruise! :cool1::wizard::yay:

We were on the 7-night Western and during our day in Cozumel, we booked onboard with Kylie on the 4th deck. At the time, this cruise seemed SO far away and I can't believe it's only 2 months away!

We're having a hard time figuring out how to get from the Barcelona airport to our hotel on the 14th with 7 people plus luggage. Everything we've read says most taxis only hold 4 people. Another challenge will be getting from our hotel to the port on the 15th. *sigh* Does anyone have any experience with large groups or read anything about this? If we could find a private van or shuttle to take us that we could pre-arrange that would be great but I haven't found anything yet. We've booked DCL transfers from the port to the airport on the 26th so that portion should be easy at least.

Good to know. Thanks Jeff and Jill. :thumbsup2
I just might have to supress some of my shopping urges.

Here's a link with more info about the laundry facilities on board. 15 total washers and dryers for 2000+ passengers. Also, that ironing board is next to useless. I've wrestled with that damned thing every cruise to iron my tux and dress shirts. I'm going to let DCL do them this year...they're actually pretty cheap relatively speaking.

Edit: Bah! DIS won't let me post the link. I'll have to add it to the web site on the "Cruise Info" tab.

Why not just take a couple of taxis? In addition to cars, the Barcelona taxi service also provides van taxis. With your luggage, you might need one van and one car for 7 people.

Hi I'm from the April 24 cruise and thought I'd share some transport info as we too are a party of 7. Here are 2 links for private transfers.
http://www.barcelona-airport-transfers.com/
http://www.a2btransfers.com/
We're booked with a2b transfers in 1 van. Here are the quotes that we got:

For a transfer from Airport BCN (Barcelona) to Barcelona City
the cost for a Mini bus is €56.40 per way.

From Barcelona City to Port of Barcelona
the cost for a Mini bus is €33.60 per way.

For a transfer from Port of Barcelona to Airport BCN (Barcelona)
the cost for a Mini bus is €41.60 per way.

Hope that helps!

Cheers

Hi there,

I am coming from Sydney Australia and we have just booked this cruise as a last minute adventure.

My sister in on the college program at WDW, so we are headed out to Orlando first for two weeks, flying out to Barcelona, then back to WDW until the end of May

I am just in the process of booking our flights from Orlando to Barcelona, it is good to know that others are also on the 11.20am flight, i was also worried we may be cutting it close (we have booked Disney transport).

Thanks!:goodvibes

:welcome: to the cruise WED.

On the departure time, it worried me enough that I booked the following day but since I've learned that Disney is putting guests that booked airfare with them on planes at 10 am, I wouldn't be worried about it now. Additionally, looking at the port of Barcelona website, the Magic will be the only cruise ship in port on 5/26 so it's not like there will be a lot of competition at the piers for taxis. Furthermore, Barcelona airport only recommends you be there 2 hours ahead of your departure unlike other international airports, such as Paris.

Thank you so very much for that information, i really appreciate it!
Well i guess i will be seeing everyone onboard!

Wow, its getting brutal over on the EBTA meet thread. I'm thinking they might mutiny by the 3rd sea day! I'm glad we all get along so well. :hippie:

Welcome from me too! Australia is on my short list of my next major trip destinations. I wish Disney would cruise there next year. :)
