Aloha Joe, Where did you buy the London Pass? I'm going to London for 5 days after the cruise and I'm trying to save money. London is expensive! Thanks for any info you can share.

How many of you guys are bringing laptops or netbooks with you? I am thinking about purchasing a cheap netbook for the trip to store my photos in, but just dont know yet.

I will probalby bring my laptop. I can't seem to leave home without it. :)

Jill

But, but I'm already spending 4 excursion tours with him in the same car!! If we spend any more time together we might start picking on each other like the EBTA people are doing. :lmao: It's fine with me :-) .

Heck, you will be practically family! :rotfl2:
:rotfl2:

Hope I input this right as I am new to both DISboards and Disney cruising. Name is Blake and sailing solo with GTY and second seating. Thanks for giving great advice throughout this thread! Looking forward to the cruise!

I take my netbook everywhere my camera goes. I am paranoid about a memory card getting damaged so back up my photos every night onto the netbook. ANy interent access from it is then a bonus. :surfweb:

In 94 (so back in the days of film cameras) i was at WDW and i went on Big Thunder while my family waited on a bench outside the entrance. When i met them at the exit i discovered that my dad had accidentally left my camera on the bench they had been sitting on. :scared1: By the time we got back there to look for it it was gone, and no luck at lost/found. I was gutted, as it had my pictures from the Atlantis shuttle launch we'd seen a couple of days before. I mean seeing the shuttle go up was a once in a lifetime thing and my pictures were gone.

Ever since i've been paranoid about keeping my camera, used film and nowadays memory cards safe and intact (and in the case of memory cards backed up).

To this day I still remind/tease my dad of this (even though i have forgiven him), and you know i still feel that little gut wrench when i think about losing those pictures. :sad2:

We're quite a friendly bunch in this meet thread so i think it will be a really great cruise with lots of new friends to make.

There's quite a few sailing solo who are active in this thread so i'm sure they will come and take you under their wing soon.

Only Two months from this coming Monday!!!!! :dance3:

Sarah,

I do shower everyday and use deodorant and mouthwash. :confused3 :)

Oh my...some of those EBTA folks. They need a dose of Rodney King's wisdom - "Can't we all just get along?" :rotfl2:

I will definitely be bringing my laptop so I can blog during the cruise. Our neighbors, family, friends and co-workers like keeping tabs on us and it gives me something to do while I'm waiting on the ladies to get beautiful.

Sarah: You might instead consider buying larger memory card for your camera. We got an 8 Gb SD card at Sam's Club a couple of weeks ago for ~ $20. Memory is cheap and that size memory card will hold thousands of photos.

There you go solo ladies...a solo guy! :rotfl2::thumbsup2:rotfl:

Welcome to the cruise Blake. Tennessee! Just north of us here in Alabama.

Jane: Speaking of the Shuttle, Susan (DW) was selected on Monday as a space flight honoree (we both are engineers at NASA-Marshall Space Flight Center) so she and I will be going down to the Kennedy Space Center for the launch of STS-131 on April 5th. Susan is the lead project engineer for an International Space Station payload going up on the flight called WORF (Window Orbital Research Facility). I haven't seen a launch in 3 years so it should be fun.

Yeah I got a flash video camcorder too. I think I could probably get away with just getting a couple memory sticks/flash drives. That way I will have one less thing to bring along.

That is so cool! (Gosh i'm a geek). You'll have to take some pictures of the launch and let us (at least me) see them. I really do hope to get over and see a launch again (i guess it'll be for the Shuttle's replacement) - it was an amazing experience. It's so diffcult to plan to be there for a launch when you're coming from overseas - what with delays etc. We just lucked out in 92 (i realised it was 92 and not 94 so even longer ago than i first thought).

I saw STS-124 (Discovery) on the pad on a visit to Canaverel 2 yrs ago, whihc was nice. We were there about 10 days before launch.

Sadly, my job is way more dull than NASA engineer, I'm a patent attorney.

Patent lawyers are fun!!! Let me know if you are ever looking for a paralegal, I'm looking for a job. ;)

Wow a solo guy on a disney cruise?!? I thought you were an extinct species. :thumbsup2 Welcome Blake!

STLUCIELADY, I believe we are on your flight. We fly out of Orlando on U.S. Airways at 2:58 and then out of Philly at 6:30 on Thursday, May 13 arriving in Barcelona at 8:35 a.m.. You and I are the two ladies doing this whole trip with 1 carry-on! Look forward to meeting you. We live in Clermont, Florida.

Hi neighbor, we're in Clermont too!!! :cool2:

Thanks for the info. When you took the train last time, did you have much luggage? Did you have little ones in tote? We're spending two days there precruise with another family, so it'll be 4 adults and 3 children. With bags and little ones (2, 6 & 7), I'm not sure if we can manage the train. It sure is a great savings though!

Hi Travelbee. I'm new to the board. From Dublin going on cruise with DH,
DD4 and DS2. It will be our first Disney cruise. As we're from Dublin we regularly go to London with kids and sometimes grandparents. The easiest way from London airport to centre is by train - it is very easy and you can buy tickets online or on the train itself. They usually have good deals like 2 for 1 online or kids go free. This is the way most people get to London. It is not a tube but a dedicated train from Airport - Gatwick Express, Heathrow Express - depending on which airport you fly into. Once we get to the centre as we usually have young children, prams, luggage etc. we do not get a tube to the hotel but go to entrance and get a taxi. London taxis are quite big - although with seven if you have a lot of luggage you may need two. Hope this information helps.

OMG...I just geeked out a little bit! That is soooooo cool! I wanted to be an astronaut until I found out I was too short. :( Now I'm a NASA TV junkie.

I'm a manager of IP engineers for a cable company. Went to law school but hated it. :)
