I will be taking as much luggage as Delta allows me to. ;) Gotta leave enough room to bring back wine!

I did buy a Nook last night so I won't have to pack books!

Ooooo! What do you think of your Nook? You're the first person I've heard to buy it. I have a Sony eReader, and love it totally and completely! I've had it for 2 1/2 years now, and it's my constant companion. I just love, love, LOVE being able to carry all that reading material in my purse. Makes life *SO* much easier!

Sayhello

Jill and sayhello, I love you gals! My kindle is my bestest friend! Constantly attached to my hand (as is my husbands!). I will also be bringing as much luggage as I possibly can. Although I will need it just for clothes. Hoping the wine purchases will be to a minimum since we will be doing a big France vineyard tour in April. Bourdaeux, Burgundy, Chataue Nuf de Pape....hubby needs to stock up on wine before our move stateside in July.

BTW, I just learned that DCL changed their kids club policy. Kids can now choice their own activites regardless of age! Fantastic news for my little guy and his friend!!

Have a great weekend.:wizard:

Really...that is brilliant news as my two are 6 and 8 and thought they would have to be in separate clubs. As for the weather...we have been to Malta in May and my parents always got to Spain around that time as well and the weather has always been lovely. I know that you guys are more used to warmer temps but i think it will be lovely!!

I want to wish a big 'Hello' to all the new cruisers.

Jeff I love the website thanks so very much for all you hard work.

Thanks to every one who answered my questions about doing your own thing at the Ports. One advantage we have about not booking the DCL/Private tours is that living in the Uk, we can possible go back to the cities as we dont live as far.
With regard to packing, I take as much as I possibly can, so always luggage for the hold. I do like dressing up for the evenings.

Hope everyone is having a good weekend.

Jan

STLUCIELADY, I'm with you!:cool1::cool1: It is a carry-on and a purse to hold my notebook- gotta stay in touch with the world. I'll be gone for 3 weeks so if it doesn't fit in my carry-on I don't wear it. I learned a long time ago that I don't enjoy lugging a lot of luggage around. Of course I'm cheating a little bit - hubby has to take half of the stuff for our FE gifts. I too had thought of only taking Summer clothes but I might throw in an extra sweater or two. I am packed!!!

gullunge,

Are you on the May 15th cruise? I don't see you on the roll call. If you are, welcome! :cool1:

So far I love it! I've been coveting a Kindle since they came out but the Nook just had some features (like being able to check out library books!) that the Kindle didn't have. I looked at the Sony eReader (and have a co-worker that has one) but I like the look and feel of the Nook better.

I'm a huge (and fast) reader so I was always schlepping a huge number of books. This will make things sooooo much easier.

MMMM, French wine! That's good stuff too!

Where are you guys moving next? Are you AF or Army?

I used to be very good at packing in carry on for up to around a week away. But ever since i bought a DSLR, i struggle to get all my electrical items in one carry on (camera, multiple lenses, camcorder, ipod, headphones, laptop for backin up photos, hair-straighteners ;) and don't forget all the blooming chargers/cables)

That's my problem! I need an entire suitcase for the electronics! Speaking of that, its a good idea to pack a power strip for the cabin. There are only a couple of electrical outlets in the cabin and I know that I always need to charge multiple things at once.

The weather is starting to worry me. I was planning on packing capris, tank tops, sundresses and skirts and now I'm leaning towards much warmer clothes since it will be in the 50's in the morning. I was trying to just take a carry-on. I think it may wind up being challenging. Anyone else crazy enough to try to go with just a carry on?

You'll definately need a light sweater and maybe at least one pair of long trousers for early mornings/late nights.

As to how much summer wear to bring versus colder weather gear, then i'd strongly recommend waiting until the beginning of May to decide. Europe sometimes has a heatwave in May and it can be exceptionally warm. other times it can be very rainy (and hence colder). I've had a Med vacation in May in the past where I've planned for the average temps and ended up buying shorts because it has been so hot.

It's definately a destination and time of year when it is difficult to predict more thana couple of weeks out.

Hope that helps someone

Here's a list of our excursions to be added to the website:

Malta: Blue Grotto Boat Trip (ICollectBelle & AppleGuy's room / Bubby627 & Pixiedust519 & Ariel412's room)

Tunis: Sidi Bou Said & Carthage (ICollectBelle & AppleGuy's room / Bubby627 & Pixiedust 519 & Ariel412's room / Friends of AppleGuy from NY)

Naples/Rome/LaSpezia: limoinrome private tours (all 3 rooms)

Villefranche: Highlights of Monaco & Monte Carlo (all 3 rooms)

I need to introduce you to my wife. :worship:

She couldn't fit everything she needs for an overnight stay in a carry-on, much less a two week trip! :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

She sounds like my sister! We'll be taking as much as British Airways allows too. My guess just the FE gifts will take up a carry-on.

I'm still trying to figure out FE gifts. Need something that doesn't take up a lot of room or weight. Ugh! Why is it so hard. :)

Hello All...

As I read this thread, I cannot help but see you all talking about FE's.
Question, what in the world is a FE? I have a few guesses but I am guessing that Foreign Exchange is not right :confused3

Don't mind Jamie.... We found our answer on the website.... Thanks Jeff!

We do, however, have one question - How does one go about signing up?

Kevin

Kevin,

Just post it here. tripodjw is coordinating it. I would like to sign up our group as well.

I noticed on another cruise like ours where the numbers were getting large, they split their group up into multiple smaller groups of families to make it a bit easier to manage. What do you all think?

I think it's a really good idea to split it up if there are quite a few people signed up. I pretty much pack everything i own when i go away :goodvibes so won't have a great deal of space!!
