Hi guys...unfortunately my dh and I had to switch cruises:confused3 again (this is the second time) because school schedule was switched. We decided to be safe and just book for Aug. Hope you all have a great time...and I will be waiting for your TR's:goodvibes

I was afraid of this- it's been a rough year economically (though things are looking up!), and that combined with upcoming work schedules and our dog's cancer diagnosis (so sad, we hope she'll be with us until spring), all make for difficulty traveling this year.

SO- we've bumped our Med reservation to 2011. Very disappointed to wait another year, but the kids will be that much older (5 and nearly 3) and therefore slightly easier on those long flights. The good news is- prices are great: a 10% discount for the onboard booking is nearly equivalent to this years 20% discount. We'll also have the luxury of 'planning' our trip twice: once when excursions open for you all, and then again when it's our turn!

Have a wonderful voyage- and be sure to let those of waiting our turns know all about your journey!

Thanks for updating us guys.

Sorry to hear things are difficult meaning vacations are changed. Hope to catch up with you another cruise one day.

So has anyone else booked to go on the Dream? I think all the excitement caught me up and we've booked back to backs in April 2011 on the Dream.

Still going to the Med with this cruise though. (We already bought flights so not likely to cancel this one).

Can't be long til DCL release the excursion info. Then i can figure out how broke i'm going to end up.

Only 2 months til we all have to pay in full and the earliest Med cruises can oly be a matter of a few weeks from final payments.

I have been pricing out airfare but so far I think it is way too high, around $1000 round trip. I keep hoping that the prices will drop. Saw some discounts through March so hoping more will come out soon. We are heading out May 12 so that we will have a couple of days to get over jet lag before climbing onboard. If anyone finds some discounts on airfare please let me know!

Best thing i can suggest is sign up for email newsletters from the major transtalantic airlines. They'll then notify you if they have a sale on.

Try pricing up portions separetely like Indy to a big hub, then the transatlantic flight and then if necessary a flight within europe. Sometimes doing the legwork on this yourself can work out cheaper.

All transatlantic airlines will have flights to and from New york and it's usually their cheapest US port of call (either JFK or Newark) - so that's proablby the best hub to use for getting cheap transatlantic flights (dunno about the price of internal US flights to NY though) and many airlines fly to other places on the eastern seaboard like Atlanta, washington, orlando. Orlando is really popular with UK tourists (for obvious reasons) so many airlines fly there - could make it a good place to change.

I posted it in the barcelona flights thread - British airways tends to have sales at specific times of the yr - After xmas, march, may, august and then sometime in the fall (they're currently running a sale until November 14th). The other big European airlines (Virgin, KLM/Air France) often follow BA's lead and then price match or undercut.

For May you should be able to get sale prices just after Xmas.

If it's any help, in the August sale we got flights for £400 (so US$600 ish) for coach class return between London Heathrow and LAX on BA and that was flying both ways on Saturdays in early-October. I thought that was a v good price.

I was just on the cruise line web site and it appears they have the Barcelona shore excursions listed. Saw several that looked interesting. Not sure when they are actually for--the day of departure on May 15 or the day before?

oooh, exciting. will have to take a looksie.

I'd guess they'll be for day of departue unless they say otherwise - but i've not read them yet. will post back if i figure it out.

Hi guys!!! I'm not positive we're going yet. I've put it on hold, but not positive we can get the time off... BUT I just wanted you guys to know that they currently have cat 12 up for $2500!!!! Thats for 2 adults!!! Insane prices! So if anyone wants to rebook before they are gone, and save some money, I would do it fast!!! I couldn't resist the price, especially when the cat11 is almost 3 grand more!

Anyways, really hope we get to go. :cheer2:

It will be me DW 27 and DH 32

Hey All, jumping on this thread to seek some info!

Now that the May 15th Med cat 12 is $2600 for both me and the hubby we can consider going on this cruise however I cannot book it until the end of Dec thats when I can come up with the $1200! So I am crossing my fingers we can still get on!

Does anyone know if that cruise is sold out for cat 12's? for that cruise?

AND..are most of you all doing a med cruise using DCL Port Adventures or going along with other members of the boards on private excursions?

Just curious to see if the cost of the PA seem reasonable or high to others!

Thanks!

I don't think I would wait until mid Dec to book the Cat 12--they may not be available by then. We just rebooked our 2 rooms and saved over $5000 !!!

Gives us more cash for some of the better excursions:cool1:

Hope you can join us, let us know if you decide to join up.

We've had an email from our TA offering us to downgrade from a cat 11 to cat12 gty and it's saving us $2140 dollars (after you account for the lost OBC). Seeing as we don't care about location then we're going for it. that $2k then pretty much pays for our BTB on the Dream.

You are doing B2B?!?! LUCKY!!! What other cruise are you going on? And Maleficent is also my favorite villian!!!!

Anyways to HappyGrumpy- I'm looking at disneycruise.com right now, and cat 12 is still available for this sail date. But like previous posts said. I don't think I'd wait. Once word really starts to get out, these will probably be gone within a day! So if you can come up with a way to book try to!

The issue I am running into is we leave for Disney in 8 days and cash flow is tight until Dec 26th when I have some stocks deposited! I have even thought about moving my Alaska cruise just to lock in the Cat 12 price. I am on the inaugural Alaska....but I REALLLY want to do the Med cruise!!

AHHHH:scared1:

ohhh I see, yikes. Tough decision! Is the Alaska cruise pretty booked... like if you cancel or whatever, can you get back onto that cruise. It would stink to not get to go on it if you are going to be on the inaugural Alaska one. Hmm... I'm trying to think of another way to do it. Yes with the holidays coming up, I'd imagine most of us don't have that deposit lying around, I'm just charging it on my Disney Visa, so I can go interest free until after the holidays. But hey maybe since it is the holidays...maybe less people will book because of the high deposit... Thats what I'll hope for so that you can get it later in the month! Fingers crossed!!!

HappyGrumpy- I see on the other thread you changed! Congrats!! Just disregards my entire last post...lol!

No Worries! My cash flow is tight until the first of the year so coming up with the $1200 deposit was just too much as we head to Disney in a week!

TA feels pretty confident we will be able to get rebooked first of the year to Alaska. I may try to rebook in May on the Med cruise to get the 10% and sbc.

Have to wait and see! I am pretty stoked to be doing this med cruise though! I totally wrote it off but the price changing so significantly changed that!

hawky7 and HappyGrumpy - did you go ahead with booking onto this cruise - if so, give me the nod and i'll update the cruise list.

I am going to go ahead and book from the hold I had, but still unsure we'll make it. We'll know by first of the year if we can go. Its more time than I can usually get off work...So here's hoping!
