May 9, 2012: 5 Night Bahamas Cruise on Disney Magic

That is wild! We probably work together too and just don't know it ;) Do you have kids going with you? We've got an almost 5-year old son.

There are a lot of people doing the B2B cruise. That's WAY too much time off from work for us (not to mention expensive!). We've always dreamed of Alaska and figured this was the way to go, especially with the 5 year old. How many cruises have you done? Alaska was to be our first, but then our spring Hawaii trip was crazy expensive this year and we kind of fell into the Bahamas cruise as an alternative.

Are you guys in the FE???

This May cruise will be myself and DD21, and it will be my 10th Disney cruise!! So for Alaska I will be platinum! Our other kids are DS19, DS17, so we have big kids! As of right now it will just be DH and I on the AK and repo cruises. DD21 may decide to join us, just depends on what she is doing and if she can afford it. ;) Not doing the FE this time

We were originally scheduled for the repo Vancouver to LA but the flights were going to cost as much or more than the cruise itself so we changed it...twice! Sailing out of PC isn't so bad for us because we can drive that. :cutie:

You know the price has dropped twice on the December PC since the release, right? Man, PC is totally on our bucket list but hubby taking off 2 weeks would be brutal. He works contract and doesn't get paid when he's not at work. Often-times his missed pay is as much or more than the trips we take so our vacation budgets have to be doubled to compensate. :headache: :cool2:

Doing the B2B makes flights much easier for us. Both US ports, so just two one ways...to Seattle and home from LA. Just finished booking those flights, pretty cheap! PC is on our bucket list as well.....we are booked for the May '13 PC!! :cool1: Reshopped on board, so we got a pretty good price, but I keep checking. We prefer the westbound trip, we get the longer days and Castaway Cay! Plus we have plans for this December already :santa:

Love your pic and I love that it is big!

Welcome back Annabel! So happy you are feeling better :)

Not has good as Wildgoofy. But here is my fish extender. I plan on butting our name on the top in between the two Mickeys. No sewing involved just felt hot glue and stickers.

That's perfect! :thumbsup2 Hot glue is great stuff. We've done entire Halloween costumes with hot glue.

I can't wait till our cruise! I want to be in this picture. :lmao: You guys looks so happy and TAN! Oh to be tan again. My DS would love that big pirate hat. Did you bring it with you, or did you buy it on the ship?

Oh wow! You did a fantastic job! Love it!

I'm still expecting some of the materials I ordered to make ours in the mail. I wanted to do something really different and work my artistic skills a little. I'm excited, tho! Already working on the FE crafts, too. Yay!

You've got my interest peaked now! I can't wait to see what you've come up with. Don't you have your FE from your last cruise, or are you just a craft junkie and want to make a new one.

DVCTigger, love the family photo! Y'all are soooo tan in that pic! Love that pirate hat and the creative twists on pirate theming. Awesome!

Fiesty Fairy, love your FE, too! I love ingenuity and creativity. Such a cute FE all with no sewing. I can appreciate that. Bonus points to you just for creativity and ingenuity! :wizard:

Teri, I do still have my FE from our last cruise somewhere around here. I can't seem to find it, tho. I was looking for it for the finished measurements. I never intended to use the old one again. It says "Sutton's First Cruise" on it.

Plus, yeah, the new one is a challenge for me to jog my creative side. :cutie:

Luz - Don't worry about your daughters' English. At that age, they'll be loved no matter what. They sound like extroverts anyway, so they will be JUST FINE. I was really worried about my DS going to the kids' club by himself when we last cruised. He just turned 3 at the time. Even though I pretty much stayed at the club with him the whole time, he had NO problem whatsoever. Keep in mind that most schools in the States are teaching Spanish in elementary now, so maybe some of their new friends can practice their Spanish while your daughters practice their English. :thumbsup2

Good point Annabel! Cultural exchange... Thank you!!!

Nice pic tigger!!!

Thanks to all the comments about our family pic!!!

AWESOME FEs!

Tomorrow me and DH are going to tell about the trip to our kids... we didn't tell them before because they'd be asking us everyday... "how long is for..." too anxious... they've just started school and we didnt want they to be absent-minded... (like me!!! :upsidedowall day thinking about the trip!!!)

@ wildforgoofy - The pirate hat is actually the head servers hat, wish it was ours!! He put it on DS head when he was around checking in on us. So it was a good time to get a picture. And yes, DD was very happy with her tan last summer! But this pic was after three days in the caribbean (and mid July), and we all tan easily! :thumbsup2

For those who are on the weight loss path, we're walking right along with ya. DH has vowed to lose 15 lbs and I'm working on my 10, and whomever wins can do the turkey feathers victory dance. :thumbsup2

I would LOOOVE to loose 20lbs before the cruise. At this rate though, I would be thrilled with 15. Tomorrow is our 11th wedding anniversary :) We are going to a wedding in Chicago. It is for 1 of our groomsmen. Maybe Ill post a pic :lovestruc HOpe everyone has a great weekend!

Im just working on getting rid of the weight I put on during our MR cruise last month!! Gotta lose it so I can eat and put it back on again in May!! :rotfl:

You'll have to show us the turkey feathers victory dance on the cruise!

It might sound silly but I'm looking forward to meeting our servers. Everyone I talk to has stories of how amazing their servers were, it's one of the reasons I'm encouraging our DS 14 to take our DD 10 to dinner the night we're doing Palo. We'll see if he does it.

Hi everyone!

We booked our first cruise a few days ago and I feel like I did everything backwards! We don't know anyone who cruises regularly, or who has ever done DCL, so we just picked the dates and itinerary we liked best and PIF. Now I feel like I am running to catch up with alllll the research and planning I probably should have done FIRST :scared:.

I finally discovered disboards a few days ago, and just finished reading through this whole thread. Though I was hesitant to post at first (because my DH isn't the most social with strangers) now I feel like I am getting to know you all and I want in!

So I'm Tiffany, age 31. I'll be cruising with my DH, 34 and my DS, 4 (he'll be just short of 5 when we cruise).

We are SO EXCITED and I am not sure what I'll do when I have devoured every bit of info the internet offers. I know a lot of people sail 'blind' and do just fine, but I feel like I have learned so much in the last few days. I am so glad to join you all and hope we all have a magical time! <3

Welcome aboard Tiffany! So glad you found us! :goodvibes

Welcome PixieMom!! :welcome: Feel free to ask away! If you have questions, we have answers!! And congrats on your first DISboards post! :thumbsup2

Thanks for the warm welcome!

We are still debating FE - I am not terribly crafty but I do have a few ideas and I think DS would love it!

I think our main question right now as we try to plan excursion stuff is: do they allow you to get on and off the ship? Like if we are in Nassau, can we get back on for lunch and a nap and then go do a few more things, or once you are on is that it? How long does it take to go through the embark/disembark process generally?

Less importantly, it looks like there is one dress up night but no actual formal night. Is that right? We aren't very formal people so that works for us, but I need to make sure if I need to add buying the DH a tie to my list XD.

And lastly, I know we don't have specific itineraries, but as a general rule do you know when the evening shows are compared to the dinner seatings? We are planning to do Dine and Play (or whatever it's called) with the DS and do the late seating. Is there time between the early show and the late seating or is it pretty much watch and then go eat?

Thank you for any help you guys can give me!

Oh, I do hope you join us for the FE! It's quite fun, especially the part of sprinkling some magic on others during their cruise! No need to worry about being terribly crafty (I'm not in the slightest bit!)...there are so many options for the FE from candy to magnets to postcards, etc.

Yes, you can disembark, get back on board, and disembark again in port. We do that often, especially in Nassau. In fact, last January my mom and I wanted to get some early shopping done. We did so and then returned to the ship for lunch. Later we received a call from my sisters who were over at Senor Frogs, so we got off again and had a drink with them.

You are correct - one dress-up night. While there will be several folks all decked out, there will be others dressed casually also. (We like to dress up since we do not go out for fancy evenings often.)

There will be a short bit of time between the shows and late dining. Typically the shows for the late diners will begin around 6 or 6:15 and last 45 minutes or an hour. Late dining is at 8:15.

The embark/disembark depends on which port you are referring to. Some are a much quicker process than others. Another factor is when you plan on disembarking (with the hordes right at the all ashore call, or a bit later when there are no crowds waiting to get off the ship). As for embark on Day 1 at Port Canaveral, this also depends on when you arrive. If you get to the port early (11:00 or earlier) you will need to wait until the ship is cleared for embarkation, and then wait for your number to be called. If you arrive at noon or later, it's a pretty quick process of checking in and then getting on board. Disembarkation is usually a quick process also. Eat breakfast, and then you are off! I say usually because there are the rare occasions when the ship is not cleared right away and lines back up.

Are you arriving the night before we sail?

I can't believe it is just over 9 weeks away!

Im wondering what that dance is too :lmao:

LOVE your motto.. totally the truth

Welcome aboard Tiffany!!!! This is our 1st DC.. but my 6th cruise. For "formal" nights, people are generally more dressed up, but def not all formal. I think you should do the FE with us!! I am not crafty at all either ;)
