May 9, 2012: 5 Night Bahamas Cruise on Disney Magic

I LOST 3 lbs THIS WEEK!!!!! I'm a workin fool!

GREAT JOB!!!!! I lost 4 last week but then went into the city w/friends for dinner. I guess I had too much chips, guac & mojitos cuz Lord I was +5 lbs  I'll weigh in again tomorrow. Hoping Im back to where I was last Fri!

That is so weird b/c I keep getting 11:30 over and over???
And I keep getting SOLD OUT! We have a dinner booked for Key West night, but I think a brunch might be better.

Annabel congrats on the job promotion...drinks for all :rolleyes1 ??? I am so happy you DS didnt need his tooth pulled. My DD had a really bad bike accident and knocked out her top 3 teeth. She needed 1 pulled. It was SO traumatic for both of us. She still talks about how painful that was. No worries this mama felt so bad we went straight to American Girl so she could get a new doll
So I am so bummed about the BLue Lagoon deal. Did I post that I couldnt book threw them directly because they are under contract with DCL :confused3 It is like $100 more to book thru DCL. Does anyone know if when you get off the ship, you can just find a guy to take you there?? I know on all my other trips when you get off the ship there are always locals wanting to take you on tours everywhere. They are usually cheap, so I never book thru the cruiseline. I just CANT justify spending almost $300 on a beach day :(

Busy (and still under the weather) weekend. I feel like there is so much for me to catch up on!

I am keeping my eyes peeled for that Palo brunch. Looks like I need to check in during some early morning times for a better chance, maybe.

Way to go all you weight-loss ladies! I am still down 2 pounds since pre-pregnancy but I know that's not going to last. At least I am not too worried and all my pants streeeeetch. XD

We are going to have a few great beach days at Siesta Key as well as the CC day, so as of now we're still planning the boat and bus tour. We'll see how that goes, but I do want to see a little more of Nassau. All you beach people will have to tell us how it is!

Someone asked about recent Navigators - I'm not sure they've done our itinerary yet. The last time it was offered was 2010 I think. If I see any new Navigators posted anywhere I'll be sure to link to them, but I haven't seen any pop up yet!

Ha! I'm 40 and still shopping the Gap but I can hardly see when I go into Afitch or Hollister their lights are so LOW! And I'm now the Old Lady who has to make it a point to comment on how LOW the lights are. How about their ads that tell us how amazing their clothes are, but the model is shirtless and he's with a dog!???:confused3
The guy in charge has changed he was suppose to spice things up, but I'm pretty sure the clothes look the same it's just the sizing that's changed. Jeans I bought last year were a 10, I'm still wearing them they fit fine, new jeans I bought 6 months ago size 12 they fit exactly the same! Go figure.

Not only can I not see in Afitch or Hollister, the wall of overwhelming scent you have to battle thru is like an instant sinus headache kicking me square in between the eyes. Ugh! Thank God the boys aren't interested in shopping there anymore. Sheesh. It was always a challenge just to survive to the back of the store(s) where the sale stuff is hidden. :headache:

Oh well, maybe I won't go shop at the Gap when/if I decide to actually shop again. A bigger size might hurt too much. LOL! I avoid the malls & stores like the plague so I won't spend money. I'm hoping to lose enough weight to fit into my old clothes so I won't need too much more for the trip. I do so loathe shopping for me anymore. :sad2:

That is strange. Do you have a brunch reserved for 11:30 that day? Mine is at 11am, I wonder if that is why it keeps coming up? Not sure why it would do that tho!? :confused3

After much playing with the Disney website, I *think* it will show the time you have reserved as available. So when I look for brunch, it shows me 11:30 on the sea day, where it may show someone else nothing. My Cabana comes up as available on the Castaway Cay day. This was confusing me at first. I have no idea why they would do it that way. Why show you what you already booked??? :confused3

SweetPea I swear I have an allergy attack walking into Abercrobie or Hollister

Fiesty your fur baby is so cute!!!!!:lovestruc

Thanks she is so silly. She loves laying in her dog bed and watching Star Wars. :rotfl2: Oh and when we leave her at friends she runs away to try and come back to the house. She did that twice last year when we went to WDW. But on the way she stopped to play with some kids. She love children. That is why I am glad she gets to satay in our house this time because my friend is come by and watch her.

Every time I check for Palo brunch, there is an 11am available on the sea day. Just checked again, and it is there. Just keep checking, just keep checking. . . . (think Dory :goodvibes)

Maybe that's what it's doing? I've checked five more times and still no luck. I am within six pounds of my pre pregnancy weight. Yay! I hope everyone is having a good day!

I am packing summer clothes, of course. But I have seen it mentioned that it gets chilly. I really don't want the kids to pack jeans because they will want to wear them all the time. I would like to see them wear something different, ya know?

I told Camille to pack a light weight jacket. Do we need more?

Hey all! We spent a good portion of the day at Typhoon Lagoon. We haven't been there in over 10 years. This was Kaleigh's first time. It was such a nice day. We are going to Epcot later for the Owner's Locker meet and greet.

Sounds like everyone's plans for the cruise are coming together!

DH and I have been using WW for a couple of years now. We really started back on it a year or so ago and I am down 35 pounds. I still have a few to go and hope this trip doesn't put too much back on.

Sweepee: Kaleigh is 9 and I have homeschooled her from day 1. She is doing very well. She takes the CAT when we get home. She met another girl at Epcot yesterday at one of the flower festival playgrounds that is also homeschooled. They played for a long time!

Cruise lengths: We like 7 days+. The longer the better. This will be our first 5-day, but we have done a couple of 4-day cruises. Those are too short for us. It feels like you no sooner get on the ship then it is time to get off. We spent 14 days on the Magic back in 2005. We did a Panama Canal cruise. That was awesome! I could do a few more that length if I had the time and money! The longer your cruise is, the more you get to know the crew members for good or for bad. We also love sea days. A lot of people get bored on sea days. There is so much to do on board, that there isn't enough time to lounge on the deck or by the pool and do all the indoor stuff to on the shorter cruises. That is one reason we are skipping brunch this time. We want to be outside! We spend enough time cooped up in the house in the winter that we want to be outside as much as possible the rest of the time.

Hi,
Our daughter is hoping to hang out with some kids on the ship. She is 11 years old and would like to communicate before the cruise so they can get to know each othe . If anyone is interested you can PM the information and Cailey will be in touch.

Hi Schepp!!! My DS sent an email to Cailey :yay: do you know if she received it? Now that he knows about the cruise (it was a surprise two weeks ago!!!) he wants to get in touch with the other kids in the Magic!!!

Kisses!

Thanks for all the info. Don't have time to read everything but what I have read makes me drool....with anticipation.

Wow, congratulations!

Welcome to the group!

I am wondering this also. We live in Texas and we are already in shorts. I am planning to bring a jacket for everyone, but dd is planning on wearing sun dresses to the dinners, hoping ti won't be to chilly. She does have a light sweater I can pack as well.

Welcome to the group davemill!!

Congrats on being so close to the prepreg weight! My goal is to weigh what I did after I had my twins. I have 19 lbs to go. I don't think I'll make it in time for the cruise. Hoping to loose 10 more, so when I gain 10 on the cruise, I'll be where I am now. I'm thinking I might actually go to the gym on this cruise. Anyone else wanna join?
I'm bringing a light sweater for myself and my dd. my ds never really gets cold. I might bring a lightweight jacket though just in case. We were on a cruise last may and it was hot. I only needed a lightweight sweater for the evening... Mostly due to some sunburn

I've seen all kinds of weather in the Bahamas. No matter where you go, I always recommend 1 pair of long pants/jeans, 1 light jacket or sweatshirt and 1 wrap/shawl. If anything, those dining rooms & theatres get pretty chilly ... ditto on some of the cabins.

Thanks for all the info. Don't have time to read everything but what I have read makes me drool....with anticipation.

Welcome to the crew, Davemill! :welcome: I was gone for a week and, boom, 10+ pages of catchup, so don't feel bad. Good news is this is a very forgiving crowd. :hippie:

I'm thinking I might actually go to the gym on this cruise. Anyone else wanna join?

Yes!! This is going to sound funny, but 1 of things I look forward to on vacation is to workout with DH. We used to do that every day, but with a 4-yo in tow, it can get a little tough, so we will definitely be hitting that gym ... so we can eat even more! :lmao:

Toodles!
Annabel

PS - Can anyone comment on any special activities/events on this cruise??

Too Cute!!:rotfl:

Welcome Dave! We're all drooling with anticipation, so you're not alone.:lmao:

Yeah! :cheer2: Congrats!

Feisty, your furbaby is so cute!!!! I just love seeing everyone's families!

Congrats to all of you who are reaching your weight goals. I started a steroid for my allergies, so I went back up a bit. Doctor gave me the ok to try going without the steroid for eight weeks to see what happens with my weight, and if that indeed was the culprit. Hopefully I can start going back down again now!

Annabel, I don't believe there will be any "special" events since this is a non-holiday sailing (maybe a special menu, or a little something for the moms on Mother's Day?), but there will be the usual events such as wine/martini/margarita/beer/etc. tastings, and the galley tour. No Pixar or Disney movie releases during our sailing, but a Marvel release shortly before (since Dis picked up Marvel)...the Avengers on 5/4. There may be a special viewing of that...we'll see what plays out.

As for beaches in Nassau, there are a few you can get to by cab (and even one by foot, although it is a bit of a hike). They are regular beaches, not Blue Lagoon. If anyone is interested, I will round up my info on those.

We are heading home today (booked another bounceback while here for August, but may change it to December since we may be sailing Princess in August). I am actually looking forward to getting home...so I can begin cruise packing! 7 weeks!!!!

Literally all I can do is obsess about the cruise. :) I bought a FE off of etsy and got my FE gifts.

I am interested in the gym too. Does anyone know if they have yoga?
