May 9, 2012: 5 Night Bahamas Cruise on Disney Magic

Ohhhh! And lemme just shout it out for he should world to hear:

I LOST 3 lbs THIS WEEK!!!!! I'm a workin fool!

LOL! You're so funny! Maybe you could t

Boys & I are on our way to Akabama to my folks house for the week. I really didn't want to go but I'm glad we are now. Mom (foolishly) walked at Sea World for a full day last May with my brother & nieces. She knows she needs an ECV but they were only going to be there 1 day before they'd be checking-in at the Polynesian and her ECV would be waiting there. So, 1 day of walking broke her foot. Then the hillbilly doctors at the horse-spital in the small town they live in didn't bother x-raying it. She finally went to a specialist around christmastime who found the broken bones floating around. She had surgery 7 weeks ago and is still laid-up. If my mother is willing to call me to offer me $500 to clean her house & shampoo carpets I know she's hard up for some help & TLC. So, going to take care of the house and subject my folks to some healthy cooking this week. And she isn't allowed to pay me. It's payback for helping me after the babies were born. Right?

Your folks are from Alabama :cool1: So am I. :goodvibes

Palo brunch is up for 11:30 on sea day!!!!!
As of 10:15am EST today

Darn! It was gone by the time I saw this, I'm dying to try Palo brunch. Kevin and I have only had one meal out alone together in three and a half years. :sad2:

Great Job!!! I'm stuck at 137/138 but I did go shopping & I'm down 1 to 2 sizes depending on the store! They know who they are... The Gap with their unrealistic size 8 & then Anne Lofts size 8 fits great. Lol not to worry I did buy the size 8 from The Gap because I could (stressing the word could) button them. :rotfl:

Die mutter is from Michigan but my dad was born & raised in Evergreen. They live in Monroeville (of Harper Lee & Truman Capote fame). I'm so not a small town girl. The Walmart super center closes at 11 pm. :headache: we're pushing for them to at least move to Pensacola where they'll have better health care options and can get their plethora of prescriptions filled at the dispensary at the Navy Hospital for free. :thumbsup2

Lol! I made Tracey go up a size a few years ago because he *could* button the 34 waist shorts but I was afraid he'd put someone's eye out. :lmao:

I generally had good luck at Gap. I used to love that I could wear their mediums & 10s where everywhere else I had larges & 12s. Have they changed??? I've been kinda watching since, I think, their CEO was cut lose some time ago. Maybe the last year?? Seems like I read that. The Gap was so hip when I was a teenager but they definitely don't cater to the younger crowd nowadays. Like I'm creepin up to my later 30s and I still shop there as opposed to the Hollisters & Abercrombies that I'm way too old to pull off for the most part.

Leslee - Camille did respond to Brian! More than that, she also emailed Chandler & they went back and forth a good little bit. That's huge knowing how shy and nervous Chandler is with other kids he doesn't already know (like his cousins). I think Brian said something about the Vibers trying to meet up on embarkation day. I wanna say he was thinking the same time we're all set to meet up?

She texted me at work last week to say I had to sign her up for the Wild Side Teen Adventure at Castaway Cay (at least I hope that is the right thing).

She didn't mention the meet up but I have told both of my girls they are free to do their own thing, within reason. I doubt we'll ever see them. ;)

So I just heard back from the Blue lagoons link and they are under contract w/DCL and I cant book thru them :( I just cant spend almost $300 on a beach.. we cant afford that. Is there anyway around this???? Can I try to get there once I am off the ship?? Are there any other beaches that you can go to that are not at a hotel?

We can't afford it either but I have to do something in Nassau. I want the boys to at least get off the boat b/c they haven't ever been before and Atlantis is REALLY expensive and boring to walk around for an 8 year old and a 6 year old. Worse comes to worse, we can cancel if the kids want to stay on.... I need to look up the cancellation policy.

Brian is doing the Wild Side teen thing. :) He's psyched. Chandler is too reserved to commit. I told him if he changes his mind we can try to get him signed up if it's still available.

Yeah, on the Dream we paid for an extra Wave phone so the boys each had 1 and we had 1. They could go & do as they pleased. Only real rules were: no going in other staterooms, nobody comes in our stateroom, you have to answer texts from the parents, dinner with the family is mandatory, & let us know where you are. The last night Brian stayed out until after 3. Apparently they closed down Vibe at 1, D-Lounge at 2, then the group found a place to hang on deck 11. I guess they weren't bugging anyone. I eventually called to make him come in. Debarkation day was an early morning & I didn't want him to get no sleep at all. :3dglasses

Wow. Every time I turn around, there are 10+ pages for me to catch up on. Great to see so much excitement & activity! I soooo LOVE the pics ... both furry & non-furry kinds. :lmao:

A big (albeit very belated) welcome to Britster, Sararoonie & Mom2Finn!! Based on your posts, I think you all have become the veterans here quickly. :rotfl2: Great to have you onboard!

As an update on my "dance routine" - I'm not even close. :sad2: I'm having a real hard time losing weight with the 10 boxes of Girl Scout cookies my DH convenient brought home. If I didn't know any better, I'd think my DH is using the cookies to win our weight loss competition. Grrr.

Life has been nutty for us the past few weeks ... DH got a nice promotion at work immediately after his India/Dubai trip, so he's been running amok trying to figure out what exactly he's supposed to do with his new $100M budget. My recommendation was - how about put it towards my immediate retirement?? :lmao:

Since DS is racing fast towards kindergarten, we've been trying to figure school options for him thereafter. I never thought I would be "that mom." You know. The one going overboard figuring out schools. If anyone remembers the movie "Baby Boom" with Diane Keaton, that's what I felt like. :headache: Well, 3 months & 15 school tours later, we finally decided this past weekend. It's just nice to have that off my plate and not feeling like "that mom" any more.

Then, our DS gets an absess on his front left tooth 2 weeks ago. After getting 2 separate dentists' opinions, it was decided the tooth had to come out. All I could imagine is our DS having to get a shot in the gums (we all know how painful those are), have his little tooth yanked out and my either pummeling the dentist or passing out. So, after 1.5 weeks of much weeping and gnashing of teeth, DH took him to the dentist and learned that the absess went away on its own, the x-rays looked perfect, so the tooth is staying put. :confused3 Not complaining.

Plus, I just booked our WDW vacation for October and that was a feat all by itself. Trying to figure out when, flights, resort, tix, dining reservations, show reservations, etc. Enough to drive a sane person mad (and I was already there).

So, thanks for letting me vent a bit. Whew.

With all of that craziness out of the way, I can start concentrating on what's really important: our DCL plans!!! :thumbsup2 Does anyone know if there's anything "special" going on during our cruise since it sounds like we won't even have a character breakfast? For ex, when we were on our last DCL crusie, it was nearing the holidays, so they had gingerbread house making and Tea with Alice. Anything like that going on? Does anyone have a copy of the most recent Personal Navigator? For you vets, what are the major differences b/t the 7-nt v. 5-nt cruises (except for the obvious, of course).

Thanks ... great to see all the updates!

Have a great week!
Annabel

I think Brian had Camille email Chandler to ask him about it. Maybe to get him interested in doing it????

I let Camille drive a little bit around a vacant parking lot over spring break. She kept wanting to go 20mph...IN a parking lot :sad2: I think I'll let her dad teach her to drive.

I'm glad Chandler wants to drive, hopefully it is not too stressful for you ;)

Since we're doing the Dolphin Encounter, the "observer" is $40, as opposed to $69. The "observer" includes all the beach day stuff except the lunch. I've heard you can get PB&J from room service the night before and pack them for the beach. I wonder if people in other rooms can "observe" us??? It says something about "friends and family". Does anyone know? :confused3

Annabel, congrats to your DH on his move up the ladder. And to you for figuring out a school. Oh! And to the little man, too, for successfully avoiding a tooth pull!

The old man has been on me like white on rice to get a room at the Disneyland Hotel booked for November. I can't get it into his skull that DL isn't WDW and I can wait until after the cruise to start planning that trip. Lol!

Chandler said she mentioned it but he's still not wanting to do the Wild Side. He says he wants to keep his first foray onto CC open to explore. Long story, he didn't get to get off the ship at CC on our last trip. We're all parasailing at 3:30 which was his request. :)

Oh yeah, Chandler's an excellent driver. I always thought DH would be better with the teaching and permit year. Nope. Tracey makes Chandler nervous as all heck. The first few times in closer proximity with other cars, especially the interstate, was pretty tough for me nit to climb over him & take the wheel back. The best thing I've done is to let go and let him alone. I read on my phone or distract myself so I'm not micro-managing. He relaxes & does great. He has his moments still...like a little while ago a light turned yellow and he was suddenly undecided if he wanted to go or stop. I was like: pick one! Can't change your mind! He's my cautious kiddo. I think if he was ever to wreck my car he'd be inconsolable from guilt alone. Lol!

Every time I check for Palo brunch, there is an 11am available on the sea day. Just checked again, and it is there. Just keep checking, just keep checking. . . . (think Dory :goodvibes)

That is so weird b/c I keep getting 11:30 over and over???

That is strange. Do you have a brunch reserved for 11:30 that day? Mine is at 11am, I wonder if that is why it keeps coming up? Not sure why it would do that tho!? :confused3

Only 11:30 comes up for me and I have that reserved. I am wanting earlier though.

Kane's doing the Wild Side too. They're going to have a great time.

Ha! I'm 40 and still shopping the Gap but I can hardly see when I go into Afitch or Hollister their lights are so LOW! And I'm now the Old Lady who has to make it a point to comment on how LOW the lights are. How about their ads that tell us how amazing their clothes are, but the model is shirtless and he's with a dog!???:confused3
The guy in charge has changed he was suppose to spice things up, but I'm pretty sure the clothes look the same it's just the sizing that's changed. Jeans I bought last year were a 10, I'm still wearing them they fit fine, new jeans I bought 6 months ago size 12 they fit exactly the same! Go figure.
