May 9, 2012: 5 Night Bahamas Cruise on Disney Magic

I just booked the Blue Lagoon Beach day. I just can't spend that much on the dolphins. Even the beach day is a hit to the pocket with 3 kids... but, I'm determined to do SOMETHING.

***ETA**** Just looking around our reservations and happened to see Palo Brunch open at 11:30 on sea day (I booked it)!!! My mom wants us to have a romantic night (ha-ha) but from the reviews I'm reading... brunch is the one to go to! yes?

I have been very tempted book the Blue Lagoon Beach day for our family. It looks like a lot of fun!

Lucky you on the brunch opening! I keep forgetting to look!

We're doing Blue Lagoon Beach Day too, and for the same reason. :) With a 5 year old there aren't a lot of options in Nassau that would keep him happy. I figured a boat ride and beach time on an island would be fun. I guess you can go over and watch the sea lions and dolphins too. Perfect!

Good grab on the brunch!

Ok, that's makes me feel better that someone else is going ;)

I need to pay ahead for it before my husband sees the cost. Then I can say... don't worry, already paid for it! My evil plan.

We'll be on Blue Lagoon too - but we are doing the dolphin encounter. Our little guy loves dolphins and we've done it in Hawaii, so he said he wanted to do it again.

We are also doing the 11:30 brunch on the sea day. I guess we'll see you there! :thumbsup2

YEA!!!

Thank goodness my parents are coming to babysit!!! I can't wait to stuff myself and I'm glad I got a brunch instead of dinner!

The Magic arrived in Port Canaveral this morning, it is on the webcam. :cool1:

We are also doing the brunch at 11:30! I am still contemplating doing something in Nassau or just staying on the ship.

Oh my! I gotta catch up!

DVCTigger - Your pic melts my heart! I love that...

Christina - That IS quite an assortment of critters y'all have! Brian would be so jealous of the reptiles. He dreams of having a pet snake but I told him I'd have to move out of the house if he got one. :scared1:

Jen - Wow! Kitties! Indy & Tucker are gorgeous! Love the pics. So sorry to hear about Tucker. :sad1: Tracey really worries about what will become of me when/if we lose our little Riley. We're so attached to each other. And congrats on getting all your flights moved and your plans coordinated. Big yay for everything coming together! :cool1:

Leslee - Camille did respond to Brian! More than that, she also emailed Chandler & they went back and forth a good little bit. That's huge knowing how shy and nervous Chandler is with other kids he doesn't already know (like his cousins). I think Brian said something about the Vibers trying to meet up on embarkation day. I wanna say he was thinking the same time we're all set to meet up? :confused3

Tiffany - I'm glad you don't mind my chattiness. LOL! I think I might be even worse with the addition of drinky-drinks, tho. I really am looking forward to the smaller size of the Magic over the Dream. Some may not agree, but I see the smaller size as a solid perk. :thumbsup2

Denine - Yes, we *do* homeschool! We were on the fence with it for several years before moving to Texas. Then the 3 nightmare years of problem after problem with the middle school here came to a big, ugly crescendo that pushed us to finally take the plunge. If everything happens for a reason then I'd like to think all that bad stuff we had to go thru was to bring us to homeschooling because it's been an absolute blessing. Of course it has it's challenges but I feel like it's all well worth the effort. The boys especially love it. Both are very adament that they never want to go back to public school. It really was a horrific 3 years they went thru. It's been hard getting them past it. Chandler, especially, because he's such a sensitive kid already. He's come a long way towards healing. Hope you're having the best time ever on your WDW adventure! Safe travels! :goodvibes

Brittany - Yay for your Blue Lagoon and super-duper YAY! for your Palo brunch score! Proof-positive that you should keep checking back because cancellations do happen! My travel agent friend cruises w/DCL a lot and she says Palo lunch is one of her biggest favorite meals to have. I'm soooo jealous she gets to take her family on the agent's preview cruise on the Fantasy next week. Ugh!

BigJon - I have no answer to your question but I am looking forward to actually seeing some live entertainment on this cruise. :cutie:

And lookit all y'all Blue Lagooners!!!! It's lookin' like maybe all the "cool kids" are gonna be congregating on Nassau! :3dglasses Y'all have fun and make sure to come back and tell us all about it. I may need to do another cruise so we can go do that, too. :rolleyes1

Whew! That wraps it up for catchin' up! Now to catch us up!

Yesterday morning I got an email from Southwest Airlines for 20% or 25% off flights by like May 17 or something like that. Tracey & I jumped online and scored him some flights for a pretty reasonable amount. It's better for him to fly while just the boys and I drive for a few reasons. First, the boys & I can leave a day or 2 earlier and split up the drive by stopping in Pensacola to visit my grandmother. Second, the amount of time Tracey spends on the road could be spent in the office bringing home the bacon. So when we plan trips like this it's a trade-off weighing the price of flights against the hours of pay he would get if he spent the driving hours at work. If it's even close to a wash then he'll make the road trip with us because it's time with the family. When the flights are super cheap it makes the moolah he'd earn at work more significant. Gotta fund those future trips! LOL! So, the boys & I are still driving, probably leaving on Saturday or Sunday before the cruise. We'll get us all checked-in at Pop on Monday afternoon and Tracey will arrive later that night. Going home is the same. I'll be driving it while Tracey flies on home to get back to the office in the afternoon.

I finally sat down today and did a bunch of investigation work into where to leave our little fur baby if my mom can't keep her while we're on the trip. I'm still crossing my fingers that Mom will feel a bazillion times better once I get her house super clean for her this week. We went ahead and booked her at VIPet in Kissimmee just in case. I wish we could put her at Best Friends right there at WDW, it'd be much easier. They just don't have availability for our girl. It's been quite a stress trying to figure this out. It's not like I can go look at these facilities ahead of time. :scared: I spent quite a while on the phone today with Sonia at VIPet and think their facility will be fine. Sure is a lot less expensive. I can pay for a loooot of personal cuddle time with all the money saved! :lovestruc

Hello from WDW! It is so nice here right now. Perfect weather; 86 and sunny today. We are at OKW and I am on the patio overlooking on a pond with a water fountain. SO nice to relax!

As far as ships go, we LOVE the Magic! We really have no desire to sail on the big ships. Almost all of our DCL cruises have been on her.

Palo: We love both brunch and dinner. We have also done high tea. They give you so much food there too and it is only supposed to be a snack, not a meal!

As soon as my countdown timer for this trip was up, I plugged in the cruise!

We got the Southwest email too and can't use it. We are traveling on May 6th which is a blackout date and we can't leave a day earlier due to familial obligations. It was a great deal too. :guilty:

Gotta get going. I hope to check in a bit more while here in WDW.

I was homeschooled throughout high school and really liked it. It allowed me to get a real job at 16 and kept me out of a really miserable school district. Right now we're planning to send DS to public or private for early years but I bet we'll end up homeschooling him too eventually.

Glad you got a deal on DH's ticket! Now I need to go see if I got the email and if we can use it to fly into Tampa to see the in-laws! And I'm glad you got Riley all set up somewhere too.

So jealous! Have an amazing time!

Brittany - that's awesome! I finally talked the DH into doing the Palo brunch if we manage to spot a cancellation or if there is a spot when we board. If not, just another reason for a secong cruise! :thumbsup2

Wow that is a Zoo! I'm taxed at just having 2 dogs and 3 kids. I was thinking about a nice little bird that would sing to me, but I hear they throw seed all over the floor. Knowing me I'll find a bird cage for a 1.00 and that will be the deciding factor on whether I get a bird. I'm a nut for bargains, even if they cost me more in the end.
Birds are beautiful BUT they just dont sing pretty... they YELL when they dont get attention AND they make a mess and throw their seed on the floor. Some dont sing/speak... just whistle REALLY loud, when you dont want them to. Just giving the warning. If you dont mind the above, buy the dollar cage and get a bird :rotfl:

What a bunch of cuties!! Those 4 cats would have my husbands allergies going crazy!! Brian is brainwashing our kids that they can never have cats because if they do he can't visit them when they're older. :lmao: They just respond with, "Well, you go see Uncle Pat and he has 3 cats!" They've got him figured out.
My DH is "conveniently allregic" (as he calls it) to cats

You've all inspired me to upload pictures of my fur babies. So here they are:

These are our 4 cats - Bo (black/brown tortie), Mauser (orange), Kiya (gray stripe), and Bella (black and white)

Lastly, and sadly, this is Tucker. Tucker unexpectedly and inexplicably passed away 2 days after Christmas. He was 8 and this house is still not the same.
So sorry to hear about Tucker. Im afraid are Lab is heading in that direction. It just breaks my heart :sad1:

That is so great that you have babysitters coming with!!!!

Sweetpea I got a 25% off code w/SWA. I tried to rebook but only the leg home was cheaper. The way there was more. I booked them separate, and you have to book roundtrip to get 25%... which doesnt end up being a better deal for us... BOO! I am just about done with making the little kids FE gifts..yay! Its been so fun working on them! 48 til we are in WDW hoohoo! :woohoo:

Years back when my boys & my nieces were much smaller my older brother was sorta given a green parrot-type bird (not sure exactly the kind but it was not a small or inexpensive thing). The bird's name was Gracie. Gawd, that thing was awful. My brother being the dear he was kept it at my parents house. I guess it was a smart bird after all because she learned quickly what could get my mother to come pay attention. She would screech and call "Nana!! Nana!! Nanaaaaaa!!!!" It was ear splitting! The bad part was how often it would be the crack of dawn and Gracie decided it was time to be up.....for everyone. "Nana! Nana!" She'd wake the kids and I'd threaten to make breakfast: Gracie legs & eggs. Grrrrr!!!! LOL!

Sorry the discount didn't hook ya up. I guess maybe it was more advantageous for those who weren't previously planning to fly. In contrast, DH had to fly to San Francisco on business last week with less than a weeks notice. Thank goodness the company he works for will be reimbursing that $1400 ticket! :scared1:

That just may be the perfect solution to our current problem.... Kane WILL NOT wake up to his 5:30 AM alarm for school! Every day it wakes us up after going off for 20 min. I could put the bird in his room and then let it wake him up at the crack of dawn. Maybe I could find Gracie and have it yell "Kane... Kane..."

It's a gorgeous day here in Ohio I hope everyone has a great Monday. Let's all pretend we're in WDW with Denine having a Magical Day!:dance3:

Oh man! I am sooooooo far behind! We are settled in at Port Orleans French Quarter. Just a quick 3-night getaway...and I managed to score a cute dress at the outlet this morning. Yea!

Kelly, were your trying to book Best Friends online or by phone? When we were trying to make our reservations for Klondike during the cruise, we first went online and they said no availability. Tried calling to have her put on a waiting list, and they were like, "oh, we have availability for her." Ummmmm, ok. Love that they have an online reservation system, but sometimes I just want to kick its butt!

Haha :lmao: We had a bird that would SCREAM "Help let me out" when it was in it's cage. My mom does home childcare and she had her monthly exterminator come to the house. He heard the bird screaming and thought it was a kid :rotfl: My mom noticed he had a panicked look on his face and he was looking in closets! She had to show him the bird to calm him down :lmao: That bird is gone.

Too funny!!! SOunds like you need a bird!

Palo brunch is up for 11:30 on sea day!!!!!
As of 10:15am EST today
Darn it.. it is already gone :(

Denine and Cindy have a blast!

Good Morning fellow cruisers! Today we hit another big day in our countdown! We now have only :

tharg-5-50-trans.gif
tharg-0-50-trans.gif

DAYS until we sail!! :dance3:

We're doing Blue Lagoon Beach Day too, and for the same reason. :) With a 5 year old there aren't a lot of options in Nassau that would keep him happy. I figured a boat ride and beach time on an island would be fun. I guess you can go over and watch the sea lions and dolphins too. Perfect!
http://www.bahamasbluelagoon.com/

I just booked the Beach Day thru that site.. .WAY cheaper than booking thru DCL. I cant believe Im going to spend that much on a Beach.. but it does look really nice and I like that we can watch the dolphins. I think my kids are going to LOVE it! Brittany I am also not telling my DH what Im spending ;) :rotfl:

So I just heard back from the Blue lagoons link and they are under contract w/DCL and I cant book thru them :( I just cant spend almost $300 on a beach.. we cant afford that. Is there anyway around this???? Can I try to get there once I am off the ship?? Are there any other beaches that you can go to that are not at a hotel?

Maybe I could find Gracie and have it yell "Kane... Kane..."

Does it say something about me that this story makes me want a bird more! :lmao:

LOL! You're so funny! Maybe you could teach a dog to wake Kane! If I get up earlier than Riley wants me to (like this morning) she'll refuse to come downstairs with me to go outside. She'll trot right down the hall and go dig under the covers with one of the boys. Once it gets to be 7 she'll come look for me. Then, it's time to wake the boys. I tell her, "Let's go get your boys!" which sets her off running to their beds jumping around on them, yipping & snorting. They're never as grumpy when it's Riley waking them! Lol!

It was a gorgeous morning in SE Texas, too. Temps were about 68, breezy, and a nice enough cloud cover to keep the rising sun from cooking me while I got my run in. Great day!

That's hillarious! Love it!

Boys & I are on our way to Akabama to my folks house for the week. I really didn't want to go but I'm glad we are now. Mom (foolishly) walked at Sea World for a full day last May with my brother & nieces. She knows she needs an ECV but they were only going to be there 1 day before they'd be checking-in at the Polynesian and her ECV would be waiting there. So, 1 day of walking broke her foot. Then the hillbilly doctors at the horse-spital in the small town they live in didn't bother x-raying it. She finally went to a specialist around christmastime who found the broken bones floating around. She had surgery 7 weeks ago and is still laid-up. If my mother is willing to call me to offer me $500 to clean her house & shampoo carpets I know she's hard up for some help & TLC. So, going to take care of the house and subject my folks to some healthy cooking this week. And she isn't allowed to pay me. It's payback for helping me after the babies were born. Right?

Cindy, I called BFPC several times. Yeah, it's crazy they don't book the villas & VIPs online. I hate calling and leaving messages, too. Several calls and all villas/VIPs are booked up. Sad face. I'm sure Riley will be okay at VIPet. I actually got their number from BFPC. :)
