May 9, 2012: 5 Night Bahamas Cruise on Disney Magic

I believe it is both you get 10%off current price, only have to put 10% down and OBC. I could be wrong but that is how I understand it. :cool1:

yes, 10% off current price AND only 10% deposit BUT if you bump from a 5 day to a 7 day, you have to pay the difference.

I just priced our 7 day Eastern and we had paid a 930.00 deposit (before canceling) and our new deposit will be 580!!!!!! for a verandah... our original room was only oceanview

This is correct! You will still get your 10% off the cruise price. So whatever new cruise you choose, plan on getting 10% off the online price. You will still only need to pay the 10% deposit. So if the cruise is higher cost then the "dummy" you will pay the difference from what you paid when you booked the dummy, but again only to make the total be 10% of the new cruise price. And finally you will get the OBC. So depending on what level of CC you are, and the length of the cruise, the amount you will receive will vary.

Hope that makes things a little more clear! . . . as mud, right?! :lmao:

Hi Everyone! I just read through the whole thread. :) This will be our very first cruise. It will be me, my husband, our three year old son and our baby girl who will be six months. We are all so excited! I would love to be a part of the FE, although I hadn't heard of them before tonight. And I am not crafty at all. I will PM when I have a few more posts.

Emailed you, thanks!!

Ok all...I had to to create a new document in Google docs, since it was not cooperating tonight and I could not load a revised document. I made it easy on myself and just exported as a spreadsheet and will update within the document itself. You will need to use the new link emailed this evening (if you are keeping up with revisions via Google docs). Keep in mind when I first put this on Google, it did not dawn on me my Google account is not associated with my iloverags2 account, so you will receive the email from Cindy. And if you prefer to receive updates via an emailed spreadsheet I will be happy to send to you this way also...just let me know. :)

I think I better go to bed now while I'm still ahead! Oy!

It was tough for me to get the whole thing with the OBB and the dummies down, too. My brain has a numbers-aversion so it was particularly hard for me to flex into the full mental gymnastics. LOL!

After you book your "dummy" at a low deposit amount then move it to a more expensive itinerary it does generate more of a deposit. To figure up how much more you have to pay for the new deposit is a multi-step process. First you need to pull the price of your desired itinerary on the website, take 10% off the cruise price. That's your approximate discounted cruise price. 10% of the discounted cruise price would be your new deposit. Subtract what you already paid for the "dummy" booking and now you have your additional deposit due.

My hubby and sons would freak out completely. Hubby is a huuuuuge aviation buff. Seriously. He lives & breathes flying. His grandfather was retired Army Air Corps/USAF and used to take him flying on weekends since he was a little guy. When hubby was 16 or so he took flying lessons, soloed, and was only a few hours shy of his private license before he got sidelined by life, then marriage. :rolleyes1 He runs flight sims on his mega-gaming desktop. He kills me how much he knows about airplanes. Sometimes he talks about stuff and I'm like "What did you just say????" In our younger, more broke years our favorite thing to do was to load the boys in the car, go get ice cream, and go out by the airport in New Orleans to watch planes. Good times. :upsidedow

Cindy, thank you so much for all your hard work keeping our FE list straight. You are very much appreciated!

I really need to find the time to get on here more often now that it will load for me again!

Welcome to the newbies! Trust me, one cruise and you will be hooked!

We decided to borrow points and stay at Saratoga for those 2 days. It isn't a favorite resort, but it is better than off property! We need to buy more points!

We leave on the 17th for our Flower and Garden Disney trip!!!! After that, I can concentrate on the cruise.

For the person that asked: It has been a long time since our DD was in Flounder's, but she loved it! They were great with the kids. When she was little, we would just get off the ship and walk around with her in the stroller. We never did any excursions. We tried once to do a driving excursion in Acapulco. She got tired and cranky. She was 2, almost 3 at the time. Castaway is great for little ones. Just play in the sand and wade in the water. There are umbrellas available if you get there early enough, otherwise they will already be occupied.

We never get off the ship in Nassau. We let everyone else go and we stay on board. Key West doesn't do anything for me. We have done the obligatory picture at the southernmost point and we are not into bars, especially with a child in tow. I do like the art shops so we may do that and then spend the rest of the day on board. This cruise it is all about relaxation for us.

I'm soooooo excited I can't stand it!!!!!!!

Of coarse travel channel was all about Disney last night ;)

I am shopping for pirate costumes. I am going to surprise DH and DS with them on the cruise. I am even buying a parrot costume for the baby!

That means I might have to see if I can find something A-10 (the plane my husband flies) related, I guess! He tends to be sort of... private I guess about it. He isn't a typical military guy and sometimes feels a little uncomfortable talking about it. When he's off duty he's off, I guess. But he isn't going to see the FE so he'll never know! :littleangel:

If you guys ever go to Jamaica, stay in Montego Bay! People complain about the airplanes taking off overhead but we thought it was really cool. Of course, that's assuming you take a vaca that's not Disney related. XD

That sounds so adorable! DH won't do a costume but I am definitely getting something for DS!

That's COOL! An A-10 is one of my DHs favorite airplanes!!!!

My DH is a CSO (does all the data/internet/phones even makes sure the big O's ipod works) on board Air Force One. Needless to say, he isn't around much this election year ;)

The A-10 is my husband's favorite plane. When we were dating in college, I got him a framed print of one. I think that's when he fell in love ;)

I haven't had a tour yet on it b/c we just got here 2 years ago (we moved to D.C. from Tampa when I was 36 weeks prego) but I've seen it in person at Squadron functions and things when they have in the hanger and it is absolutely HUGE!! The other cool thing is sometimes when they land, they go over our house and it's fun to run outside and "wave to daddy" :goodvibes

Britster18... This was prob'ly before your hubby was w/AF1 but it's my only AF1 story. ;) Remember I mentioned we used to like taking the boys to go eat ice cream and watch planes in New Orleans years ago? Yep, one of our weekly or more trips we forgot that then-President Clinton was in New Orleans for something-or-other. There's a regular road open to daily traffic that runs parallel to the shorter of the 2 runways at that airport with a chain-link fence and short grassy strip between them. The shorter runway is only 5,000 ft long. On that day we made a few passes on that road, could see AF1 in the distance pulled off/parked away from the regular terminals, but there really wasn't much going on. For whatever reason we decided to go to a nearby mall for something, forget exactly what for. On our way back out to the car we noticed right away that there were helicopters all over and regular air traffic was circling far off in the distance. Tracey looked at me and said, "Hurry up! AF-1 is about to take off!" We strapped the boys down and high-tailed it back towards the airport. I kept telling Tracey not to get in a hurry because there was no way they were going to attempt to take that massive airplane off the short runway. Even if we got in prime position we wouldn't see much with it taking off the long runway. Still, we hurried keeping a close eye on the skies as it was very apparent that the airspace was being cleared of all traffic. We made the turn onto the airport/short runway road and directly behind us a police car pulled onto the road with his lights on and closed the road. Tracey was freakin' out! "It's happening! We're going to see it!" I was still not willing to believe it would be on the short runway. 5k feet is not much and we'd seen so many smaller passenger planes use every inch to get off the ground. We rounded the corner and, low and behold, we were right next to AF-1 side-by-side in it's full glory. I couldn't believe it! Tracey slowed down a little but not too much realizing full-well that we could easily be seen as a security threat. We rolled down the windows, watched, and cheered, as that massive aircraft sprung to life. We could see people's faces in the windows of the plane. It was so surreal...and beautiful....and amazing! I know the exact stats on that aircraft aren't put out there for anyone to access but I can tell you that day we watched a frickin' 747 lift off a 5,000 ft. runway using only half the distance available. Now that is impressive! Definitely a highlight of our airport gazing days. Big time!

I don't know if we're going to do the full-blown pirate costumes for this cruise or not. I suspect maybe not. Anytime the topic of Pirate Night comes up Tracey talks about wanting do all-out costumes. Yesterday I finally asked him if he realized how much quality costumes cost to purchase, reenactment quality, not costumes like from a store. I told him and he said, "Yeah. And?" Like that's okay to spend. :confused3 He went on to explain his perspective and it really does make sense. How many Disney cruises do we have booked? There's a Pirate Night on each of them. Investing in or taking the time to construct good quality pirate ensembles for us is more like an investment and something we can add to over time. It's not like they're a one-shot deal. So true! I doubt I spring for all that stuff before this cruise but I see a direction for us to be working towards in the future. pirate:
