May 6, 2007 - 4 night Wonder

Love to be part of a second group, you all sound so knowledgeable and have clearly cruised before. We are (DW and Dme) there for our first cruise and part of a group tied together commercially. You guys know how to have fun.

Hi timber385 and welcome. :dance3: We are a group of 11 familes now (was 11, then vgates had to drop out, now you joined.) Most of us are 1st trip cruisers, but we have a few who have gone before.

I finally bought myself a new bathing suit today :scared1: :lmao:

Trying to pick up the things I need as I see them.

So cool! That means less then that until we leave for WDW! 2 weeks from Friday! So am so excited I don't know what to do with myself. I was hoping it would be spring around here by this point in April, but no such luck. At least I know only 2 1/2 weeks and I get to go to summer!

WOOOOHOOOO!!!!!!!: earboy2:

:cool1: :cool1: :cool1:
I am still waiting for my cruise docs!!!

Me too, but bouncing up and down. :cheer2: We are getting close to the being ready to pack phase. We have to in advance too because DH has to grade exames until 7 or 8 on Thrusday night, and we leave at 4:00 am the next morning (for the airport.) 2 nights at CRS before the boat sails. :cool1:

We are starting the packing this weekend!!! All the ironing and the pirate costumes and jewelry, things we won't need until we leave!!!

Lets talk packing! It seems like there is so much more to pack for this then a normal WDW trip. I would never think of brining heals or fancy shoes to WDW.

I have nothing special for the pirate night. DD does have a few things, like dress up, but I don't have anything planned.

I do have a nice dress and I though DD could wear her Cinderella wedding dress for the more dress up night. Still that is a lot to pack.

What about things for the beach? Should I pack DD's blow up toy? It doesn't take much room and I would guess they will let us use it.

I am nervous about the packing also!! We are staying at the Beach Club for 4 nights before the boat sails, so it is like I am packing for 2 seperate vacations!!
We don't have anything for pirate night either. I heard that we get bandanas or something. I will try to scrounge up eye patches.

2 weeks from Wednesday...:woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

Because we are moving around so much I do plan on packing this way, suitcases for WDW, and ones for the cruise (instead of each person get one suitcase.) We have 2 nights at CSR, 4 on the wonder and then 1 at SSR and that is a lot of moving around.

DD has some eye pacthes, hats (those are big) and soft hooks we might bring. That is it. We are more of princess around here. princess:

Like another poster said, I'm going to start putting the things away that I won't need before the trip - ie: highlighters, swimsuits, etc. I hope to knock out half the packing this way.

Good luck everyone! :thumbsup2

For the first night we all have matching disney dresses and the guys have the shirts, for dress up night I have a sundress, DD has a "Minnie" sundress (it is red with white polka dots) and DH is wearing nice polo shirts and khaki slacks and for pirate night DD and I have pirate costumes and DH has a pirate shirt he is wearing with jeans...since this is our first cruise, we went all out for the themes...we are just so excited...don't forget when packing things you won't need right now to pack medicines you might need...my DD has horrible allergies so we are definately bringing the benadryl!!! And of course, don't forget the Princess Dresses!!!

Thanks for the reminder on medicine!

No kids with us, we are the ancient mariners on this trip. My wife (DW) and I (Dme) are on our first cruise together. DW took one with our daughter 20 yrs ago when a pet died. I took one longer ago ... it was a troop ship to Korea. I just hope we can try to keep up with you. We are looking for fun. And relaxation.

pirate: We have three daughters and none of them are into princesses!:confused3 :confused3 :confused3

We live in Pittsburgh and I might get Pittsburgh Pirate t-shirts for us...that way we will have "pirate attire" and support of our MLB team!! An added plus, the shirts will be worn over and over again!pirate:

:thumbsup2 I just remembered that I got DH the coolest Pirates of the Caribbean T-Shirt at the outlet store near Disney world last May. I guess that takes care of DH. :cool1:

I don't think I have much for me. I am not going to worry too much about it.

ktstewart, I guess my girls can be into princess enough for all of them. princess: princess: I admit, I feed the habit.:rolleyes1

Welcome, Timber285. Timber is our Golden Retriever's name!

About Mousesurplus....DisneyPhD...I usually don't bid on eBay stuff from Mousesurplus because of the high shipping and handling fees..I think we paid nearly $25 s/h for the Wilderness Lodge lamp, but to get the whole deal for under $50 was still a good bargain, so we will just grumble silently to ourselves about the s/h. At least it is a large, gawky package (and something I would not want to try and pick up in Orlando and try to get back in the luggage). I wanted a pair of the Animal Kingdom Lodge curtains they had for auction, but refused to pay nearly $20 in shipping for them, which could easily fit folded in a priority mail container for well under $10. Their shipping prices for pins are pretty obscene, too, so we generally make a point of stopping there ourselves every trip down and grabbing up anything that Southwest will take as regular luggage! Hopefully, their new warehouse will be open after the cruise, and if the AK curtains are there, I'll get them.

About DVC...we just bought in for the first time after our Magic cruise in January points at Saratoga Springs, and then immediately got a small add on at Animal Kingdom. We are looking forward to our first trip "home" with an Old Key West stay after our Wonder cruise!

About being ready to sail...we've been totally consumed this last week. We just bought a used (but very new-looking) Ram pickup truck that will be able to pull our horses and a trailer when we find one. Lots of scurrying around there, including a trip this morning to the DVM which was full of depressed, resigned looking customers who rightly worried they'd be there for hours dealing with surly employees only to find out they were missing some critical piece of information and had to go home empty handed. We lucked out, as all the crabby ones were shouting at the people getting driver's license renewals, and we were helped with our title and plates by a very nice lady.

DH's horse got some kind of festering crud on his legs from all the Chicago mud and we have to go to the barn where we board them every night (45 minutes each way) to basically wash his legs (all four!) and smear what amounts to be diaper rash ointment all over them. Meanwhile, DH's new pirate shirt I've made him is still short the lacing at the collar, my DS's isn't even close to finished, DD wails she can't find any of her shorts from last year, and I have to be completely out of pocket the entire week before our Florida departure date (May 4), including the entire weekend before, due to a Really Badly Timed work assignment. That leaves four hours this Sunday afternoon to do absolutely everything.

Hope the rest of you are faring better. I can tell from reading everyone's posts that this vacation is a much needed pause in the madness for more than a few!
