Castaway Key day doesn't really require an outfit. :rotfl:

[/QUOTE]

Not even a bathing suit???? :lmao: :lmao:

My packing list is HUGE! We are away from home for 23 nights though, so I reckon I can be excused!

Will mainly be shorts and tshirts for day, with pretty dresses for evenings. Have the piratey outfit sorted for both of us. And the formal stuff. Just got to get DH some new black shoes.
A bikini/swimsuit is the worst thing I have yet to buy...I hate buying new swimwear or underwear...I normally have to try on the whole shop to find just one that fits :confused3

Hi Everyone!

I have not posted in a while do to my kids activities sucking the life out of me;)

Heather

Mine are fixing to get started so I've been trying to get the majority of my shopping done now. Every Saturday for the next several weeks is all booked up in April except the one right before the trip and I refuse to make plans on that day.

So I order a fish extender on EBay...But I have a few questions...

Are we each going to deliver once? Do we know how many are involved?
Just need to go shopping and didn't know what to do:confused3

Thanks

Heather

I'm not sure if anyone is in charge of a list. Sometimes someone volunteers to keep up a list. I don't know that we'll participate but I do like looking at the fish extenders. They are so darn cute.

Definitely a bathing suit! I don't think Disney, or anyone else, would appreciate otherwise!!!!!!!!!! :scared1:

Reading back, I can't believe I typed Castaway Key... can you tell I am working right now??? :3dglasses

Lynn,

I totally agree with the hating to buy a bathing suit thing. I have been bathing suit shopping for WEEKS now. I finally was able to try one on at the Land's End shop at Sears. I have been wanting a tankini or two for a long time now. I was finally lucky enough to find a top that fits and I got the bottom on sale from last years stock. I am still on the hunt for a second and may just do the same thing....top at full price and bottom from whatever is left from last years stuff. The problem with that is finding two that match!

As far as other outfits......I am shopping in my closet first. I have a choice....new clothes or fruity drinks. Guess which one I am leaning towards....tee hee.

We go mainly shorts and t-shirts during the day. Nice pants and tops for all evening meals. We will be going slightly more dressy for formal, semi-formal and Palo, but certainly not evening gown formal.

Ahhh a tankini..............now that would be great...I love those. Except I can't find one that stops my wobbly middle from bulging outwards under the top and over the bottoms!!:rotfl2:

Is anyone bothering to pack beach towels? Or just using the ones provided on ship? They do take up so much room. I think you can rent towels at the waterparks as well? So I shouldn't need them at all for this trip?
Lyn

Sounds like it took as long to get to the UK as to Canada! DH wore his for a half an hour when we got it in the mail ;) What a good sport! He keeps eyeing both them and our "Seabands" and looking a little confused. :confused3

Anyway, since we haven't been on a cruise before, I'm still up in arms about the outfits to pack. I just realized, we don't have a ton of time to shop... :goodvibes I guess this really is a good thing!

I'm thinking for sea days, I'm just going to wear long pants or khakis and wear them all day. And, I'll pack more shorts and skorts for the days that we are at port. Castaway Key day doesn't really require an outfit. :rotfl:

I would love to hear your tips!

Seriously though....Sorry misslissa apparently lyn and I couldn't pass up the opportunity. :lmao: Oh I crack myself up!
Thanks for making me make myself laugh. Okay I'll stop laughing now....

First of all find yourself a good packing list. This is our first every real vacation much less cruise. I didn't have time to make one up and since I never cruised before I wouldn't know everything to bring as I may not think of it so I found one online. I pre-ordered the newest passporter and they give you a pdf of it while you wait for your hard copy to be mailed.

I copied the packing list out of there and I put it in google docs, they have something like an excel spreadsheet. I can access my list anywhere I can get online. I deleted everything that doesn't pertain to me like baby items. Then I take my list everywhere I go. That way I don't have to 'remember' what all we needed and everytime I'm already in a store I can look over my list and see if they have anything I need from there or a store close to there. Saves gas and extra trips.

Of course there are laundry facilities on board. Depends on if you feel like doing laundry during your trip.

I've read if you plan on buying t-shirts then pack that many fewer t-shirts and wear the ones you bought on your trip.

Black skirts/pants make anything look dressier. Or bring bottoms that match several tops. You could get a way with packing fewer bottoms and more tops.

Denim shorts/skirts/skorts match anything for the most part. So do khakis. Bring bottoms that will match several tops. Again that would allow you to bring more tops than bottoms.

Bring at least two bathing suits unless you like wearing a wet one. Some bring several of these.

I mentioned to a friend about the space bags or a similar brand they are in the luggage isle at walmart. Some of them don't have to be vacummed to get the air out anymore you roll them up and it forces the air out and it won't let the air back in. Make sure it says this on the package as some still have to be vacuumed out.

She said they worked fabulously. Neither of us had used them before. She used them to pack some pretty fluffy down jackets for a ski trip that she was worried about having enough room for. You could use them for blankets or pillows or anything that's full of air. Do not use these to pack your husband in. :lmao: There I go again...

Some people use the super large baggies and do this with their clothes. Pack an outfit in each bag and then their husband or their kids just have to grab a bag and put it on. I guess if you can't make yourself pack less then use this type of idea.

I'm only concerned if you wear long pants all day on sea days you may be hot. The passporter says the temps in May are usually 80-85 degrees.

No, I'm not packing towels. I agree they do take up too much room. Of course you could use the space bags I mentioned before if you just have to pack towels. I've read on these boards you can use the towels from the ship to even take on excursions. I've also read that towels are some peoples favorite souvenir. If you think you might buy some then you could bring a space bag and throw it in the bottom of your suitcase and use it to bring the towels home in.

Just in case you missed some earlier posts, I am adding FE participation to the Roll Call List. I will add imheather and captured. I think we also have agreed to just doing one delivery at your convenience rather than having a delivery schedule.

Lyn,

I hear you about the wobbly middle. Well, my middle is just going to have to wobble! I want a 2 piece bathing suit and there is no way in H@#$ that I am stuffing myself into anything that resembles a bikini!

Linda

That is a good idea... bottoms that match lots of tops...

There is no way I am doing laundry on the trip! I am saving that for when I do the 108 day around-the-world cruise with Princess. :goodvibes A girl can dream can't she? :confused3

I never pack towels 'cause I have actually in the past left them behind so that I could pack more souveniers! I am also one of those people who has tons of WDW towels at home.

BTW, I found another DISboard member on another thread who is going on our cruise, I pointed her to the thread~! :wizard:

Well done Misslissa, for finding another recruit to our community!

Has everyone seen this link to an awesome Excel spreadsheet for cruise packing?
I have tested it out, really easy to delete unwanted items and add personal ones.
Some things I would never have thought of on there!

The roll up space bags are a great idea btw, I have a couple somewhere, I will put them at the bottom of one of the cases, and fill them with the dirty washing, squash it all up...lots more room for new stuff then! i always put an empty holdall at the bottom of a case as well, so can be utilised if needs be.

I got a bathing suit last year at Torrid in the US. I'm a bigger girl, so the control top certainly holds everything in, kind of. :goodvibes

I also saw a tankini that I liked. The bottom was like a bikini bottom with a skirt built in over the top.

Okay, like I didn't have enough to do over Spring Break, I decided it would be a fun time to try the Mickey tie-dye shirts. I'm happy with how they turned out, though I don't know if I'd recommend it to anyone who is remotely busy. It was a lot more work that I had anticipated. :sad2:

I'm going to try to post some pics, I've never done that here before... Here goes!

They are sooo cute. You guys did an awesome job. Very cute and it should make it easy to spot each other.

I'm so excited I can hardly sleep. I'm going to be dead by the time the trip finally gets here.

Cute shirts!

I have actually come to a big decision today. With everything going on, and it being our first cruise, I have officially decided not to go with doing the Fish Extenders. As fun as it looks, I think it'll just add plain too much to my list of things to do! :wizard: I can't wait to see yours in the halls though ;)

DH and I spent the whole day shopping, again, for the trip. I picked up an over the door holder, as well as the first shorts I have purchased in YEARS! I generally hate shorts, or short pants, and have come to grips with my legs seeing sun this year.

Really nice shirts, what a great project!

I also have decided that the Fish Extenders will probably be too much for me to handle, tempting to join in as it is. I have a lot going on at work at moment.
But will really enjoy seeing and hearing about others!
