May 3rd-10th****Dis Maytees-May Magic send off

We thought about booking that cruise instead of this May one but, we don't want to cruise in Peak hurricane season. If that had been offered earlier in the year we would have done it.

Welllll.... I think that ranks up there as a reason to keep both cruises... *hrmm* Now I have to figure out how to word it properly.... :thumbsup2

*grin*

Two stops at CC will be very nice. You won't have to pay for drinks or lunch. Also, if the weather is bad one day you always have that second day to fall back on!

GOOD LUCK with that! It would probably take an act of God to get Kyle to agree to another one after the 5/08 trip. That will probably be our last Disney adventure for a while...Not that I'm complaining considering we will have had 7 in the year, but still. :)

Welcome aboard PocaJaz! I've started a passenger list from the info on these threads, and according to it we've got one 8 year old girl, two 6 year old girls, a 5 year old girl, and a 4 year old girl! There are also a bunch of boys onboard in the same age brackets (I know my DS, 5 at cruise time, doesn't yet discriminate in the gender of his playmates!) If we arrange a cruise meet early on, the kids can become acquainted and be more eager to join their new friends in the Oceaneer Club!

Hi, I am new here, but we will be on that cruise too. It will be me, my dh, my kids who will be 10 and 7 and my parents. After the cruise we will go to WDW for a week in the parks (minus grandpa and grandma). I am so excited this is my first cruise and I am already addicted to the TR's and planning pages.

Jennifer,

Welcome! There is a nice little group of us on this thread and then several more families on another thread. It is so much fun meeting and getting to know other DIS'ers both on the cruise and on these threads before the cruise.

My party consists of my partner Lisa and I and 4 of our closest friends. We will be the loud ones onboard. LOL.

Looking forward to getting to know you this year.

Linda

Hi Linda,

Thanks for the nice Welcome. I look forward to getting to know some people before our cruise.

Hi Everyone! We will also be on that cruise. By we I mean me, Jennifer (39 currently) Dh Bruce (40) and our 2 kids Andy who will be 10 and Elisabeth who will be 7.5. We are in room 6002, it is a cat 11 inside price, but has an obstructed porthole so it is actually an outside room. My parents will also be on board on another deck. This is our first cruise and we are very excited, although dh isn't too happy that my parents will be along too.

We are coming from WA state so we decided to come down on Thurs. since it is such a long trip. After the cruise we are doing the parks for 6 days staying at a Marriott Residence Inn. We are cashing in points so the hotel and flight are FREE! And yes, we are pulling our kids out of school for 2 weeks too as also mentioned by a previous poster.

I look forward to meeting everyone.

Question= Is Stingray City on Grand Caymen worth the cost?

Hi Cruisin ears,
Welcome. I have a 10 year old dd so I am sure I will see you in the club:goodvibes

I went on the stingray tour with Capt. Marvins and I thought it was worth EVERY PENNY! The stingrays were adorable and the snorkling was unbelievable. My kids still talk about it:) If I can fiqure it out I will try to post some pictures.

Welcome Aboard. You picked the BEST week to cruise.

Heather

We definitely want to do Stingray City and were looking at Captain Marvin. Anyone do the turtle farm? DH and DS are both nuts about turtles. I was also thinking about the aquarium and the butterfly conservatory in Key West. Any reviews of those outings? My sister recommended Chakanub in Cozumel...I'd love to hear opinions about any of these.

We plan to stay at the CI & S on Friday night. If anyone will be in town with kids who might like to play with DS who will be 5 by cruise time, maybe we can meet up for dinner or breakfast before the cruise. I know that at 10 months away I'm getting a little detail oriented, but I'm psyched.

I heard not such good things about turtle farm.
I heard good things about aquarium and butterflies in Key West
Chakanub was closed when we were in Cozumel last May. We went
to San Francisco Beach which was really great.

I'm getting really close to vacation withdrawal. Ok, so I have absolutely NO RIGHT to say that, but I'm just not sure how I'm going to manage until September! :lmao:

Dawn

Dawn,

I would love to only have to wait until September!!! I have to wait until our cruise next May. This is by far the longest I have ever gone without a WDW trip. I need to focus all my energy on paying for this cruise.

Now, I will be in the Orlando area July 6-9 for a wedding. I am seriously toying with the idea of calling a CM friend of mine to see if he can meet me at WDW for the day on Monday. That just might have to do and will at least take away a bit of the withdrawal I am currently experiencing.

Linda

I know, I know. I DID say I have no right to complain. I've just gotten spoiled. ;) Anytime I even say the word vacation, my husband feigns a heart attack. :scared1: Guess I need to relax a little bit and just let things flow. Of course, AFTER next year's cruise, that will be it for Disney for a long time...The kids start kindergarten 9/08 and we have some other 'things' we need to get accomplished around the house. Not to mention, hubby is going to be promoted to Captain soon (he's in the Department of Corrections) and CPTs don't get OT. :scared: Talk about a shot to the pocketbook!

*yeouch* about the pocketbook. DH is also rumbling about our house needing work, too. I've calmed it down a little, but he's still mentioning that whole "emergency savings" thing. *sigh* He is looking at changing jobs, and we're weighing all the repercussions for him doing that. Work is starting to seriously irritate him, and the 3 night classes this summer aren't helping.

Hey, Dawn, while I've got ya here... Our reservation is still showing Second seating. Do you think that will change before we cruise?

Thanks!
Brandie

Work is seriously irritating me as well. I am searching for a new position within the company, but after 17 years, they need to kick me out...I'd lose too much in severance to just resign.

I just spoke to DCL...they connected our reservations, but they didn't change your dining...they said you are waitlisted for it right now. UGH. That's so not what they said when we were on the phone with them. So, I guess we have to wait and see if we can eat together or not... :(

My bad; I didn't notice it until the other day! *shrug* Hey, it's not any worse than what I first had! :)

Thank you for calling, though!

Brandie

Sure. :) If we don't get it, maybe we can book a Palo brunch or something together? Guess we'll see. Ciao!

As the summer draws on my job is getting increasingly more stressful. July is my NC review month....where the auditors from the state come in and review both homes from top to bottom. I am frantically trying to make sure that all my ducks are in a row. Basically that means going through 11 permanent records with a fine tooth come making sure that all that should be there is actually there. On top of that my summer activities are in full swing. While it is going well, there are still little things that come up every day and lots and lots of planning still to be done for future weeks. The kids are having a great time and the staff are enjoying the activities also. Also in the mix is the fact that we are incredibly short staffed and most of the administration are working very long hours to make sure that everything is covered.

I know that this too shall pass, but it makes for a very tense summer.

Hang in there everyone......our cruise is getting closer every day!
